Chapter 59 - CHAPTER 59.

"You know what," I exhaled, "I could use the air. I'll walk with you."

She brightened.

"Perfect. Come on."

She took the lead, moving through the crowd with surprising confidence.

People moved for her.

Security guards nodded at her.

That should have been my first warning.

But I followed.

We slipped into a quieter hallway near the back of the museum. A guard leaned against the wall, scrolling through his phone. He looked up, saw her, and smirked.

"Back again?"

"Don't tell on me now" she teased.

He unlocked the door for us.

We stepped into the courtyard.

Cool wind brushed my skin.

The space was dimly lit with soft ground lamps, the glow catching on the glass walls.

I turned to thank her…

But she was stepping back through the door.

Inside.

And then the lock clicked.

I froze, utterly confused.

"Hey...what the hell are you doing?"

She smiled at me through the glass.

A slow, sharp expression.

She lifted the joint to her lips and exhaled smoke against the pane.
