Masego was shocked by Enzo's gesture of mercy.
A flash appeared changing the whole scenery as it dimmed down, revealing two children standing opposite from each other as a group of children surround.
It was a flashback of Masego and Enzo childhood as they were
play-fighting against each other, and we saw how Enzo rustled him.
"Enzo I challenge you for your role as the leader of the group." A younger me had said as points my stick towards Enzo.
Enzo was always one who accepts a challenge just to prove a point. "Masego, I accept your challenge and prove to you why I lead the group." Enzo had said to me as he got in stance.
The sky was covered with dark clouds, and the air was sweet but cold like a breath mint, exactly how I remembered.
We had a stanceoff as Davy was our referee and then a ball bounced as Enzo started his attack.
I was getting pushed back as Enzo was going on the attack. I could see the growing frustration on Enzo's face same thing as always, as he force me back and then he stop before I could react, Enzo had hit my arm and leg simultaneously.
I was put on my knee just like this as all I could only think is how ? How did I lose to him..
Enzo said with a smirk, "Your defeat was inevitable." I saw sweat come down his face, he looks exhausted as he had got ready to finish me.
"This is unfair, I WASN'T NEVER GOING WIN AGAINST IN A FIGHT, LET GO AGAIN IN SOMETHING ELSE!" I had said aggressive towards Enzo as everyone in the group watch me as I was getting more and more frustrated.
But before I could continue my rant, Enzo had stop me.
"This is the reason why you not the leader, if you can't fight for your friends then how can you expect us to trust you to lead us away from this growing conflict.," Enzo said as he poked his stick at my head, as the sky had clear up and the sun shine on him as the birds chirp on Enzo victory over him.
"At that moment I couldn't understand why at that time, that Enzo was always the one leading us or maybe I just jealous how he defied the odds where defeat is certain but yet still won, but it felt like world was praising Enzo for his victories and my defeats, as he had lightly hit me, confirming my defeat.
The memory getting consume by the darkness as Masego body and head was lower and consume but a light shine a light upon Masego face as the darkness vanished. Masego lifted his head to see Enzo smile as he lend him a hand.
I sighed a breath of relieved "Of course you still help a loser like me." I said as I took his hand and got up, while we hear cheers from the students around who are watching the play fight.
"I finally the sky isn't covered with dark clouds, it was because I couldn't didn't see Enzo as leader but as a obstacle and blockage in my path, that why it seemed so unfair that he was in the position for so long without change because I didn't change." Masego said with a clenched fist but then.
"Then I realised, Enzo was right you can't expect to lead others when you can't protect them and I was a fool to think I could lead them when you did a better job keeping us out of trouble." Masego relax his fist.
I looked over Enzo and seeing how everyone praise him for his victory and even carry him as he looked exhaust.
I was prepared to leave when.
"Don't praise me alone, it was both me and my friend to provide this level of performance isn't that right Masego."
At the moment I truly understand that my view on Enzo that you were a rustles, cold leader changed to you being warm and consideration person .
"You right, it took both of us to provide this level of performance." I said as we both bow and laugh as the bell rings, indicating that break is over. We grabbed our bags, and Davy stopped me.
"Hey Masego, how you feeling, you not hurt right?" Davy said as I watched Enzo carry ahead of them.
"Of course, I couldn't been better." I said as Enzo got off waiting for us.
"What taking you guys long, we can't be late it, technical science class so let hurry up." Enzo said as the same raven fly above Enzo.
Enzo had looked up seeing glimpse of the raven did as varied call causing Enzo to be uneasy as it flew pass me.
I turned to see where it lands. And it landed at the hangout spot picking up my broken stick I used as a blade as it flew away.
"You coming Masego?" Davy said as he walked past me.
"Yea I coming." I said as I caught up to Enzo and Davy as we talked about the fight and how I felt it l impossible to beat Enzo as if he could snapped his hand.
As Enzo, Masego, and Davy walked up stairs The set had turned on and off when Enzo snapped as the raven can be seen flying to a district as it fly pass building as we see a sign saying "Ekurhuleni district". It finally landed on it nest putting the stick in nest structure.
The raven croak and a crow caw back as we see from belong the masked figure, user 02, standing infront of a building -abandoned Ekurhuleni District Building looms over its surroundings, a skeletal remnant of its former self. Its once-polished concrete facade is now cracked and stained, streaked with years of rain and neglect. Faded government insignias barely cling to the walls, their edges curling like dead leaves. Rows of shattered windows stare vacantly, some covered in grime, others gaping open, revealing the dark emptiness within.
Vegetation has begun its slow takeover—vines slither up the walls, weaving through the cracks, while tufts of grass sprout defiantly from the building's foundation. The rusted remains of signage creak in the wind, their faded letters barely legible under layers of dust and peeling paint. The main entrance, once bustling with officials and workers, is now a forgotten threshold, its heavy double doors left ajar, revealing nothing but shadow beyond.
"Mr Charles, your trial begins now." The masked figure, user 02, said in a menacing and cold tone.
