Sera's face flushed. "I have never been in Mrs. Blackwood's bedroom," she said. "I don't even know what it looks like. Hell, I don't even know which door it is."
Vivienne folded her arms. "I'm afraid I won't be taking your word for it. If Benedict comes back without the necklace, we will be searching your bedroom."
Sera nodded slowly, swallowing hard. "That's… that's fine. I have nothing to hide."
Moments later, all heads turned as Benedict reappeared.
"I couldn't find it," he said quietly.
Claudia's knees nearly buckled.
"Take me to Sera's bedroom," Vivienne ordered.
Benedict turned instinctively to Claudia, silently asking permission with his eyes. After a long second, she gave a small, shaky nod.
Benedict inclined his head and turned without another word, leading the way back into the heart of the house and up the wide staircase.
They stopped outside Sera's bedroom.
Benedict opened the door.
