Vivienne snapped her gaze back to Delilah. "Tell me."
Delilah shrank a little. Her heart fluttered in her chest. "I don't…" she swallowed, cheeks flushing. "I mean—being Luna would be… an added bonus." She felt childish admitting it aloud, but she pushed on. "I just want to be with Eric."
That wasn't entirely the truth, though. What she wanted was someone who made her feel safe. Someone powerful enough to love her like her father never did.
But she kept that buried deep.
Even Vivienne didn't know all of it.
"Then you will not do what I did. You will not be me." Her fingers tightened around Delilah's shoulders. "You will fight for what you want."
Delilah blinked, startled. "Aunt Viv—"
"And under no circumstances," Vivienne hissed, "will you let anyone take what you want from you. Do you understand me?"
Delilah stumbled back a step. "Aunt Viv! You're scaring me!"
