Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: once a murderer, always a murderer.

They were allowed to go into their rooms to sleep. She walked down the corridor with Relma fenington. Her mind racing. She had survived the trial only to hand death an easy victory, TIDAN? It was impossible. They were dead, their descendants have been erased from the history of Audrigald. Relma turned to her with a shy grin. '' so what's your signet attribute? '' Relma asked. She paused. Yes a signet, that's the only way she can survive in the academy. But her smile faltered, she didn't have one. Hadn't manifested at all unlike others. This was all wrong, she needed a signet, if nor he would take advantage of her.

'' I don't have one. '' she said. Her eyes shrunk. Relma turned with a tiny satisfaction, she didn't have one. She patted her arm and gave a grin. '' I bet it is one super ability. '' Relma consoled. She turned to face Elara. '' be safe okay '' she said turning and hurrying to her dorm giggling frantically. Elara was tongue tied. It was weird that some one took notice of her, not to talk of asking for her ability. Relma fenington has defied the odds, and that's the kind of best friend she needed. She pushed her hand into her pocket and walked humming a tune to herself. She tried to turn but somehow, a vault door appeared before her. Covered in ivory and runes.

'' weird, this s my wing right? '' she muttered pulling out her ivory envelope but it was gone. She pushed her hand deeper but nothing came out. She turned seeing a shadow begin to enlarge at the Corridor. She knew that physique, he was coming for her coming to have his revenge as he had promised. She groped for the door. Electric spark jolting her rekindling her fears and desperation.

Her heart thumped madly, the shadow loomed. She gripped the vault door, her breathing tensed, her heart flared up. The figure stood before her. A woman who was tall. She had an hour glass shape with wide hips. She wore a v necked flight leathers that exposed her breast. A tattoo spiralled down her neck and hid underneath the clothing on her. A sword was strapped behind her back.

'' Ashwood, luckily I found you here. '' the woman said. Elara tried to breathe. Slowly sucking in wisps of cold air. The woman's eyebrow arched. '' expecting someone else? '' the woman asked. Elara shook her head. Her eyes still locked on the woman. She glanced down at Elara with scorn. Her nose flaring up with prejudice. Elara was bewildered. How can some one's emotion just rapidly swing in matters of second? This was the oddest thing she had experienced. Besides it was normal to be given contemptuous snares. She had received a lot from her counter parts.

'' you will be under my strict guidance, since you are one of our abnormalities? '' the woman said with a well deserved scowl. Elara bit her lips. '' abnormalities... This was the new one. '' she thought. The woman wrinkled her nose as if sensing her thoughts. '' any misdemeanor deserves punishment by law. '' the woman said. Elara was curious, what sort of punishment? Knowing the academy their best treatment could be feeding you to a dragon.

'' certainly not that? '' the woman said as if sensing her thoughts for the second time. Elara gulped, this was a terrifying enemy, she better not get on her bad side. The woman introduced herself as cat noirre. A professor in the academy. She turned to leave, she turned back again with a snare. '' see you tomorrow then, if you even survive the night. '' she bellowed moving swiftly out of view. Elara was taken aback. Survive, she would survive the night. But why, her room should be the safest. I think.

'' so how are we going to survive with her here. '' a amber eyed boy asked. He inhaled, he knew sooner or later she would come, she would threaten all they stand for, all they've built. Elara Ashwood is a threat that they must extinguish. This is it. Their only hope. After all her family murdered his, destroyed his lineage for a curse that did not exist at all. He would get his revenge and save the academy from her. He turned to meet the gaze of the boy who had spoken, '' tonight she dies, Emelda will actualize our goal. '' he said the girl nodded a short brown skinned girl with velvet eyes and a sinister smile. She also wanted the revenge. Her family was exiled because of Elara Ashwood. '' we are protecting Audrigald. '' they said. She twisted her palms into fists. Now it's time for her own protection. She was protecting Audrigald from an outlaw, a cursed.

She sat down on the bed, her room arranged with every necessary thing she needed. A lamp, a small empty shelf, a bird a portrait which was unusually empty. A window, and weirdly a door that led to a balcony. Was this special treatment, were they thinking of her title? She looked up, her breath caught. She turned to meet her ivory envelope on the reading table. The door was opened, someone had stolen her envelope and gave it back. She opened the envelope only to see words that would make her blood drop cold, a newsletter attached to the envelope, her heart thumped madly. Her chest rised and fell. Fear digging into her heart, scaering her mind and destroying her morale. This was all too heartless. Too cruel. Tears as hot as lava spilled out of her eyes leaving a smothering trail on her cheek. Sixteen years was already too short? Fuck her curse, fuck them all.

She crouched by a corner her body shaking violently, her mind blank and her heart heavy. She sucked in wisps of cold hair. Her breath in a frenzied motion. One two thump. She squeezed her hand into fists. How wicked would her family be to do this to her. Silas was right. She was not special, not unique. Just a big bad heartless curse the country needed to get rid of. She squeezed her palms again. It was because she was weak. She was not even leaving up to her name at all. They hated her. He hated her and his revenge was justified. Every single one of them lost their family, lost their friends and their loved one because of her, her curse her family. They hated her but it was no use at all. Killing her would not even make her family flinch because, they would rather forget she existed in the first place. She was a stain to their record. She was on her own now, her survival was hers. And tonight she had one big task, survive death.

***

The cafe was rather arranged every one with a group of their friends. Each wanting to stay away from the cursed girl. Every where she turned, sneers followed, judging eyes. Criticism mowing into her bone. Then he came in his own clique. Her death in fancy boots and a drop dead smile. " We meet again Elara." Xaden smiled. She gulped down fear. Gulped down the fact he could kill her at any given second, right here right now. " It wouldn't be that easy. " He said as if reading her thought. " I want you to suffer slowly till you beg me for mercy. " He smiled slowly but the smile vanish as she turned. He expected the fearful look she always had. The terrified girl he wanted but, before him was the glare of a resilient young woman, some one the world had gave up on. She had her own cross, she had hr own life and neither can he take it away.

'' I do not fear you tidan. '' She said, her mind held into her last hope. She moved forward to leave but some how. A tug at her keg and she fell, her plates smashing into the ground. Salad dressings littered the floor. A magnificent laughter erupted in the hall. Spite burning her throat. He gave a cynical laughter kneeling to gaze squarely at her. '' your life is mine to take, no one else has that right. '' he mocked standing. His clique followed behind him like sheep's. Tears hang at the lid if her eyes. She stood, some one cleaning her up. Even Relma could not interfere on a Tidan's business. She cleaned Elara and helped her out of the hall amidst snares.

She couldn't sleep. Facing the roof with fright. Every creak dazzled her, every step made her cringe. She drummed her fingers erratically against the bed post. '' when will it come? '' she thought. Over the day, she had thought of the lessons, the scares, the criticism from forbidden just like herself. She was destined to be alone. She sat up, gazing at her blessing. '' what a odd looking blessing it was. '' she thought. Her mind racing. She did not find dying pleasant, after all she was a cursed, but neither did she find living any better. She inhaled slowly and walked to the balcony, gazing at the black inky sky. No moon in sight. The door creaked and she turned. Someone in black rushed in. Her knife spurred into action. She slashed at the air but it hit rock. Her body dazed as the figure punched her, blood spurring out of her mouth. The pain seemed to multiply ten folds.

'' you do not deserve to live. Since you arrived every one has been dying. '' the figure said a knife rammed into her abdomen and she faltered. She fell. Tears streaming out of her eyes. ''. Today! Elara Ashwood dies... '' the figure yelled. Elara plunged her hand forward, pain in her heart, fear in her being, she dodged standing, the pain vanished. She gripped the figure, he struggled but she reached the balcony. A kick landed closer to her injury, she winced gripping tight. The figure hit her head on the wall. Metallic scents of blood hitting her nose, she retaliated, shoving her knife upward. A cry of pain and she pushed... Seconds, a scream of pain, drowned by silence. She crouched holding her head in pain. Realization warming her heart. She was alive, for now. She could hear series of whispers from below. People were gathering at her balcony. Fright in her bines as the words came out. '' I KILLED SOMEONE!!! ''
