Chapter 18 - Sneaking out

Chapter: Campus Chaos & Sparks

The moment Jay and Keifer stepped into their lecture hall, the entire back row of Section E collectively howled.

"WOOOOO! Power couple in the building!" David cupped his hands like a megaphone.

"King Watson and Mrs. Watson, late again, of course," Ci-n muttered, rolling his eyes but grinning.

"Don't tell me you two got… distracted on the way here," Felix wiggled his eyebrows.

Jay smacked his arm on reflex, but her cheeks betrayed her with the faintest pink.

Keifer only smirked, sliding his arm around her chair before she even sat.

"Oh, we definitely got distracted," he said smoothly, eyes glinting.

The entire row—Eman, Erin, Kit, Mayo, Rakki, Mica, Densel, plus David, Cian, and Felix—lost their collective minds.

"NAHHHH YOU DID NOT JUST CONFIRM THAT!"

"Someone record this! Exhibit A in the downfall of Section E's sanity."

"Jay, blink twice if you need rescuing!"

Jay groaned, hiding her face in her hands. "Why did I marry the loudest man alive?"

"Because you couldn't resist me," Keifer shot back instantly, leaning in so his lips brushed her ear, just enough for her to shiver. "And you still can't."

Her hand froze mid-eye roll, because the whisper wasn't meant for the table. The whisper was meant to light her nerves on fire.

"Y'all saw that right? HE LEANED IN. HE DID THE EAR THING." Rakki was practically bouncing in her chair.

"Lord give me strength, I can't watch this." Erin grabbed his notebook and fanned himself.

"Power couple? More like public menace," Mayo muttered while smirking.

The professor hadn't even arrived yet and already Section E was in ruins.

Half an hour later

Class was in session… sort of. Jay was trying to focus, but Keifer's hand on her thigh under the desk had other plans.

She shot him a sharp look.

He raised his brows innocently, scribbling notes. His hand didn't move.

"Stop," she whispered.

"Why?" he whispered back, lips twitching. "You look so cute trying to focus."

Her pen nearly snapped in her grip.

The thing was—if she told him to stop, he'd only push further. If she ignored him, he'd definitely push further.

And right on cue, his fingers squeezed, thumb tracing small, deliberate circles.

Jay choked back a gasp, smacking her notebook over his arm.

Eman and Felix noticed immediately.

"Ohhh nahhhh what's going on under the desk?" Felix said way too loud.

"Friendly reminder this is a university lecture, not your honeymoon suite," Eman added, smirking.

The whole back row erupted again, and Jay wanted the earth to swallow her whole.

Keifer, of course, looked unbothered. Smug, even.

By the time class ended, Jay practically stormed out of the room, dragging Keifer by the wrist.

"Jay? Jay! Where are we going?" he laughed.

"Somewhere they can't see us," she hissed, cheeks blazing.

Empty Study Room, 5 minutes later

Jay shoved the door shut behind them, glaring. "You are unbearable."

Keifer leaned against the desk, all wolfish grin. "You love it."

"Do I? Do I really love being embarrassed in front of our entire friend group?"

"Yes," he said, stepping closer, voice dropping. "Because deep down, you love when I can't keep my hands off you."

She froze.

His forehead pressed to hers, his smirk gone, replaced with something more dangerous—soft and hungry at once.

And before Jay could deliver a comeback, his lips captured hers.

It wasn't soft. It wasn't polite. It was the kind of kiss that left her clutching his shirt, that left him pressing her against the desk like he couldn't possibly get close enough.

Her hands slid up into his hair. His mouth trailed hot down to her jaw, her throat, right where he knew it would make her gasp.

"Keifer—" she breathed.

"Mhmm?" His lips ghosted her skin, his grin audible. "Still mad?"

She yanked him back up by his collar and kissed him harder.

The room filled with the sound of them losing the last bit of patience they had.

Outside, footsteps passed by the hall. A voice—David's—echoed:

"Hey, has anyone seen Jay and Keifer?"

They both froze, lips still brushing, trying not to laugh.

Jay whispered, "If they find us—"

"Then they'll know their guesses were right."

And just like that, he kissed her again.
