Kevin's cold voice continued to ring out:
"Stella, that day you chose to be with me, didn't you already know this outcome? I can give you what you want, but the status of Knight's daughter-in-law, sorry, that's not something you can dream of."
Her voice was choked, full of resentment:
"Kevin, you're so cruel."
"It's just a mutually beneficial relationship; there's no need to say such unnecessary words."
Stella seemed to be fiercely attacked, her voice trembling:
"Then why is she allowed? Her family is bankrupt, her background is worthless, yet she can still be Knight's daughter-in-law. As for me, why can't I?"
Alex's face immediately darkened. He was about to step forward to say a few words, but Emma noticed and quickly shook her head to signal him not to pay attention to the argument. She really didn't want to get involved in meaningless arguments.
Alex took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger rising in his chest. In the end, he did not confront her anymore.
Kevin's voice became colder:
"It seems like you want to end this relationship."
Stella immediately panicked, realizing that she had just lost control:
"Sorry, sorry, Kevin. It's my fault, I just blurted it out because I was so heartbroken. I really love you, can you forgive me?"
"Remember, I don't want to hear any more nonsense. If there is a next time, we will really end it." Kevin's cold voice made Stella's heart feel as though it were being squeezed.
She sobbed:
"I understand, I won't do it again."
"Okay, wipe your tears and go out first. I'll stay for another ten minutes and then go out."
Emma sighed in her heart. So Alex's brother was like that.
The handle of the stage glass door creaked slightly. Stella walked out with a sad and empty expression.
A cold voice rang out from behind:
"Have you two seen enough?"
Alex chuckled, pulling Emma's shoulders to face his brother, smiling weakly:
"Not enough. If you want, you can continue to perform another act for us to see."
Kevin squinted, his sharp gaze stopped on Alex, then slowly turned to Emma.
"Don't blame me for not reminding you. Your mother has already booked a plane ticket to New York. Instead of messing with me here, why don't you go home and think of a way to deal with her properly?"
Kevin said as he left the stage exactly ten minutes later. Emma finally breathed a sigh of relief. Just now, she was worried that the Knight brothers would fight right here.
This was the first time she discovered that the relationship between Alex and his brother was this bad.
"Is the relationship between the two of you already this bad?"
Alex smiled weakly:
"Not born from the same mother, how can it be good?"
In the darkness, Alex's expression became vague and unpredictable. He emphasized each word:
"Emma, I never intended to marry you only by agreement."
"But we signed a marriage contract..."
"It was to reassure you, so I signed it. If I didn't sign it, you wouldn't have married me, right?"
Alex stepped closer, his eyes burning in the night as if he wanted to burn everything. He looked straight into Emma's eyes.
She lowered her eyes to avoid that burning gaze, but he didn't allow it. Alex continued to move forward, his fingers gently lifting her chin, forcing her to face him.
For the first time, Emma realized that Alex had a slightly crazy and overwhelming possessiveness.
"Alex, our marriage is only temporary. At that time, because of a little impulsiveness, I proposed to you."
"Now you want to take back that offer?"
"I'm sorry for hurting you. I didn't mean to. Besides, I've been married before. Your brother just said that, and your mother seems to object. We've already made it clear, if we both meet someone we like, we'll get a divorce immediately."
"I like you."
Alex's voice dropped, his eyes fixed on her:
"Emma, I like you. I've never thought about divorce, and I'll never think about it again."
Emma's heart was pounding, feeling like it was about to jump out of her chest. She was completely confused by this sudden confession. "So what? Even though you've been married eighteen times, I still like you. Equal social status? For me, that's unnecessary. Only weak people need to take advantage of others' help. I'm very rich, and I don't need those complicated marriages." Alex looked at her sad eyes, her cheeks flushed. He couldn't help but recall the kiss in the car just now, feeling that it was still not enough. His Adam's apple moved slightly, his eyes deepened.
"From the beginning to the end, all I need is you. Even if your family goes bankrupt, even if you have been married, Alex's wife can only be you for the rest of his life. So are you willing to accept my feelings?"
Emma held her hand tightly, feeling as if she were walking on clouds. Every word Alex confessed was like a breeze passing through her heart, making her heart waver.
Can she trust his feelings?
Can she trust someone else again?
She didn't dare. She was afraid. Afraid that this time would be a mistake.
Alex raised his eyebrows slightly, his voice both domineering and decisive:
"You can't refuse. If you don't agree, I will continue to pursue you until you agree."
He looked at her, smiling lightly:
"Okay, Emma. If anyone else comes in, we won't even hope to leave this stage tonight."
---
When Emma walked out of the stage area, she was surprised to see that Stella hadn't left yet. She just stood in a corner, coldly watching Kevin chatting happily with a few people.
"Editor-in-Chief."
Stella turned around, her expression expressionless, as if nothing had happened just now.
"Take my business card, go find President Knight. Say that we at *Crown Holdings* want to do a special interview with him."
Emma hesitantly took the business card from Stella's hand:
"Okay, I'll try, but President Knight might not agree."
Stella glanced at her, her voice carrying an unpredictable hidden meaning:
"He will agree."
How could he miss the opportunity to mock the younger brother and sister-in-law he hated the most?
Emma took a deep breath, mustered up the courage to approach Kevin. She bit her lip, tried to keep calm, and said:
"Mr. Kevin, I am a reporter from *Crown Holdings*, and I want to do a special interview with you. Do you have time?"
Kevin glanced at her coldly, his tone distant:
"I'm not free right now."
But his eyes swept over, seeing Alex standing far away, his face darkened. Suddenly, Kevin changed his tone:
"Tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, you can contact my assistant."
His words surprised Emma. But she also understood that this decision was not for her, but for the man staring from afar.
