FEW HOURS EARLIER
"Hut! Hut! Hike!" Stephan called and the game began.
They passed the ball. I caught it and began making my way to the lines of the opposing team. I was almost there when suddenly I felt someone slam into my side and I fell.
The coach's whistle rang out. "Hey, Cross." He yelled out my name. "You better get your act together and plant those ballerina legs firmly on the soil."
A pained grunt left my lips. I looked through my helmet to see Stephan. He flashed me a cocky grin and then jogged away to join the others.
I pushed myself up and once again got into the position. The second call came and just like the first time, it landed in my hand. I took it and began making my way to the oppositions' line when once again, I found myself falling face flat on the ground.
Someone had tripped me.
The coach's whistle rang out again. I banged against the soil in anger as I got on my knees. I raised my head to see the coach's face close to mine.
