Chapter 9 - CHAPTER NINE: A FREAK FOR A NANNY

~DAVEN'S POV

It was evening now. I didn't wait around for any of the remaining classes that I had for the day before heading home. The day before had been terrible.

THE DAY EARLIER

I was seated across from the Sheriff who's face was drawn together in a frown. "I know your parents are trying to cover you up but that cover won't hold up for long, I promise you that."

I rolled my eyes in a bid to suppress the frustration that gnawed in my chest.

"I didn't do anything." I yelled, letting the frustration seep through.

"Then explain to me why you were there in the woods covered with blood. Not to mention that you were just a few metres away from the dead body."

"I don't know how I got there and I'm not even lying." I explained, my hands flying about in the air trying so hard to make my point clear but it seemed like it only hit a road block.

"These deaths only started occurring after your family moved to Darnville and those darn billionaires always have dirty linens in their closets." The Sheriff yelled at him.

They both turned head from side to side, each noting the stares that they attracted their way in the station.

I drew in a very long breath and leaned into the table. "I think I get it now."

The Sheriff's brows furrowed slightly in confusion.

"I think you have an issue with really rich people." I remarked and smirked like I had just made a very important observation.

The Sheriff's face hardened. "All I'm glad about is that you aren't trying to deny that you were indeed there." He stated.

I relaxed back in my seat and folded my hands against my chest with a flat expression on my face.

"Now, tell me exactly what you were doing in the woods at that particular time and why you were covered in so much blood?" He asked and pulled out a note pad ready to finally start with the actual interrogation.

I shrugged casually, "I don't remember."

He put down his pen, the lines on his facial gradually becoming visible with frustration. "What do you take us for at this precinct?"

I shrugged once again. "You already suspect me so I don't know what else you want me to do and I am telling the truth, I really don't remember."

He pointed his index at me. "There was no single scar on your body and yet you were covered in blood and dirt and you dare to tell me that you don't remember?"

"I need my lawyer to sue y'all a*ses. I really don't remember. Do you expect me to admit to something I didn't do and really don't remember?"

This entire scene played out after I had woken up after that strange nightmare which happened on the day my father and I got into a serious argument.

I couldn't obviously tell him about the nightmare and in truth, I didn't remember what had happened and how I got to the forest. I was going to be on the Sheriff's radar for quite a while.

The day after, when I got to school, the sympathetic look the students flashed my way made me want to dig the ground and disappear underneath.

My mom had mentioned something about getting someone to look over me like I was a five year old. We had a serious argument about it and my temper exploded. She had to make me do breathing exercises which I agreed to reluctantly.

It was all so exhausting.

PRESENT DAY

I walked out the bathroom, my white towel dropping low from my waist and the other one wrapped around my head. I walked over to my closet and pulled out a casual light jogger and a white singlet.

My hand moved to unwrap the towel to get dressed.

"Don't…take it off." A small voice came from the corner.

It belonged to a female

My hands froze and my gosh, I felt my heart beating so fast in my chest. My eyes were wide with shock as I slowly turned my head to the side where the voice had filtered from.

Upon seeing Alison my hands flew to my chest and my towel dropped. She screamed so loud I felt like my ears were going to pop. She threw her hands in the air, reached for the door and dashed out like she had just seen a ghost while her scream echoed through the halls as she ran.

That was when I realized that my towel was on the floor and my manhood was on display.

I immediately grabbed my pants and slid my legs into them and wore my singlet over my head.

Then I sprinted out of my room, down the stairs and straight to the lounge area where my mother sat with Alison shaking like a leaf in front of her.

"Mom." I called out to my mom and she turned to me in her chair.

"Daven." She replied with her usual calmness.

I stomped my feet as I got to stand in front of her. "You didn't tell me you would be hiring her." I stated, and pointed at Alison, eyeing her like she had horns on her head.

My mother blinked rapidly, her face blank and void of any emotions whatsoever.

"Do you two know each other?" She asked.

I closed my eyes and drew in a long breath. Then opened them up again. "She is the freak of Darnville."

I didn't mind looking at her as I made that statement.

My mother's lips slowly lifted into a smile. It was so creepy I felt shivers run down my spine and anxiety creeping into my body. What exactly was she thinking?

"I can see that I've made a perfect choice."

My jaws dropped. "You can't be serious, mom."

"Um... yes ma'am." Alison added. "I think he's too old to need a nanny."

My mother scoffed. "Nonsense!" She exclaimed. "I think it's just right because you both have close age ranges." Then she turned to Alison. "You can perhaps help him with his anger problems."

I could feel the side of my neck turn red in embarrassment. "Mom." I tried to stop her from talking even further.

"Enough!" She snapped and stood up from her seat. "She will stay and that's final."

Then she turned to Alison and flashed her a sweet smile. "You can start your work tomorrow. I'll tell you all that you have to know then." Then she turned and began making her way to the stairs, her heels clicking against the tiles.

"And if you do start, make sure to make yourself at home." She threw over her shoulder before walking away.

I buried my face in my palms. This was going to be a disaster.
