Chapter 28 - Chapter 028: Angel

"So you want me to help you pass the exams?"

Right now I was in a professor's office. Yeah, even I was shocked there was a method to bypass the restricted zone, but it turns out there is. You could actually reach the staff offices—all you really needed was an invitation from a staff member, and that staff member turned out to be this professor in my case.

"I see you brought your little girlfriend with you. Is it for protection?" she asked, her gaze drifting towards Jenny, whose grip on my arm tightened.

"No, she just wanted to tag along," I responded, to which she adjusted her glasses. The woman in question had purple hair and somewhat similar eyes to Jenny—a mix of purple and blue, though hers were more purple than blue. Unlike Jenny, her hair was extremely long, but she had tied it into a bun with a silver hairpin. She wore a black suit that accentuated her hourglass figure.

"I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience, and I'll understand if you can't help me with this," I said with a small bow, to which she kept silent for a moment before speaking.

"This is very unlike you..." she said with squinted eyes. "And last time I checked, you're practically a genius theory-wise, so what's this about?" she asked, and I sighed, then glanced at Jenny, who shook her head, probably understanding what was going through my mind.

"It's complicated," I answered.

"I have all day, you know," she said, pulling off her glasses and biting one of the handles.

"Haah," I exhaled. She wasn't going to help if I didn't give a reasonable explanation—that much was clear.

"I see," she suddenly said, putting on her glasses once again. "Look, if you want this conversation to go anywhere, I advise we have this chat alone." She suddenly stood up.

"No thanks," Jenny spoke up suddenly, glaring at the professor.

"Suit yourself," she said, picking up her handbag as she grabbed an ID card. "But you very well know only I can do something about that," she said with a smile, to which I said nothing, letting Jenny pull me out of the office.

"I always hated that bitch. I don't even know why I suggested this in the first place," she said, pulling me along as she marched forward angrily. After we had left the staff block completely, she suddenly stopped and looked at me. "Just forget about this whole exam. I have some connections that would be able to help us, so just let me handle it," she said, and I nodded slowly.

[What are you planning now?] I heard but kept silent.

It took a long time, but we finally returned to the academy grounds and went to her dorm room, where she cooked a fish meal. I won't lie, it was nicely done. After the meal, she began narrating some elaborate romantic memories which sounded pretty much like fairytales, but she was so happy doing it that I didn't interrupt. After the whole thing, she then escorted me to my own dorm, which was located in the other building for us weaklings. After we got in, she once again began trying to seduce me, but it all got interrupted by a knock which signaled my roommate was back. At this, she begrudgingly left, and that... that was when I began my plans.

I started searching the mini wardrobe, cupboards, and shelves for the phone she was talking about, but to no avail.

"What are you looking for?" my roommate, who looked pretty much like a nerd, asked, to which I considered it before replying, "My phone."

"Phone?" He frowned, then hopped down from the top of the bunk bed. "Isn't it supposed to be with that girl?" he asked, to which I frowned. Which girl?

"Um... that girl with the silver hair. I think her name's Angel," he said, to which I frowned.

"Angel?" I repeated, and he nodded.

"Yes, I'm pretty sure she took it when she brought you back unconscious that night." At his words, my eyes widened and I walked towards him and held him by the shoulders.

"What!" he asked, to which I looked him straight in the eyes.

"Tell me everything. What exactly happened that night and when was it?" I asked, to which he frowned, looking startled.

"Um... it was a week ago, at night. You received a text message from someone, then told me you were heading out. You didn't get back until midnight—roll calls were already over. That was when that girl brought you back in her arms... Um, she said something about you resting and that you were fine, after which she pulled out your phone from your pocket and left," he said, to which I frowned even more. This made absolutely no sense. What really happened? Why her?

"From that day, was there like... changes in my behavior?" I asked, to which he took his time, then nodded.

"Yeah, you've been very quiet, and you always returned early. Today's actually the latest you've been back, now that I think about it."

Wait a minute.

Could it be Angel has something to do with my being here?
