Sirius Isle – Gajiru and Rebi
"This time, we really came to the right place. Fighting enemy forces? Hahaha, not bad, not bad at all!"
"Let's see… have the enemies arrived yet?"
Kael's telepathic message had just reached them, instantly banishing any lingering boredom. Their spirits surged, electrified with excitement.
Gajiru swayed from side to side, scanning the surroundings, his hands shading his eyes as he peered around with palpable enthusiasm, entirely oblivious to Rebi walking ahead. She seemed listless, drained.
Rebi was caught in a tide of self-blame. She hadn't yet recovered and didn't dwell on whether Gajiru was ignoring her or indifferent. From past encounters, she already knew that was simply Gajiru's nature. Her current concern was her own weakness. Facing this enemy, she wasn't confident she could truly support him.
Was she… a burden to him?
Her low, self-critical thoughts widened the distance between her and Gajiru, though she didn't notice it.
Stomp~ stomp~ stomp~
A nudge from Gajiru snapped Rebi out of her spiraling thoughts. She looked up, dazed, at his playful patting.
Gajiru, still scanning from behind, noticed how far Rebi had drifted. Remembering that the enemy was from the Dark Guild, he hurried to catch up. Waving his hand in front of her, she didn't notice, still lost in guilt and regret.
Seeing her like this stirred something in Gajiru's heart. He understood this feeling; he had felt similar despair when Kael had swiftly taken care of a threat before. All he could do now was tap her on the head, redirecting her attention.
"What's wrong, little one? Feeling down… This is a rare chance to fight!"
"But…"
Rebi opened her mouth to protest, but—
"Shhh~!"
A rustle in the grass, and a samurai sword flashed with icy brilliance, cutting across.
Gajiru immediately hardened his left arm into steel to block the strike while his right hand transformed into a steel dragon staff, smashing into a chicken-headed enemy behind him.
The dog in samurai armor leapt back in shock, eyes wide with caution, as if he had never expected such a rapid response.
"Remember this. Next time, don't wander away from my side… Got it?"
Gajiru slammed his fists together, striking a domineering pose, keeping Rebi safely behind him.
"Looks like you're the invaders—the Dark Guild… Demon Heart!"
Gajiru's eyes gleamed with excitement and disdain. His audacious expression immediately enraged the enemy.
Rebi watched Gajiru's back, her heart pounding. She whispered softly, "Gajiru…"
"Our purpose here… is to hunt Fairies, not watch you two show off your affection!"
"Boom~"
Demon Heart member Yūmaz swung his sword forward, cutting through the air as magical symbols resonated throughout the forest.
"Ah! So noisy!!!"
"The magic… it uses kanji, just like your magic, Rebi." Gajiru covered his ears, shouting over the roar.
"This magic… Eastern characters?"
Rebi recognized the symbols immediately, calling out, but the surrounding noise drowned out their voices.
Yūmaz's spell activated instantly, and his partner, Kamaz, readied himself—years of synchronized teamwork allowing attacks that no one else could anticipate. Kamaz leaped from a hidden location, claws swinging, a triumphant grin on his face.
Yet, surprisingly, Rebi and Gajiru seemed almost prewarned, crouching in unison to evade the strike.
"What—?"
"Impossible! How could they detect that?" Kamaz's jaw dropped, disbelief etched across his face, yet he reacted swiftly, leaping into the air and hurling countless eggs.
"Egg assault~!"
"I slash! I slash! I slash!"
Yūmaz swung his sword, but every attack from the duo seemed to be predicted. Gajiru blocked some, dodged others, as if foreseeing the moves before they came.
"Damn it… I won't believe this~!"
A kanji appeared along Yūmaz's blade, glowing silver. He swung with full force, a horizontal slash aimed at the pair.
Gajiru moved forward, crossing his arms. A magical circle appeared, a blinding light flashing as an iron shield materialized, infused with Haki-like energy.
"Clang~" The metallic impact rang out—the attack blocked effortlessly.
Next was handling the noise.
Rebi leapt into the air, her fingers flying, writing swiftly in midair:
"Solid Kanji—Silence!"
The green kanji '静' shot forward, colliding with the glowing 'Boom' symbol.
"Bang!" A flash of white light, and the forest immediately fell silent.
"What?! My magic… erased?!" The samurai's attack missed, his attention drawn entirely to this sudden event.
"Iron Dragon Staff~!"
Before the chapter ends—
Gajiru seized the opportunity, punching Yūmaz squarely in the face.
"Ahhh~!" Yūmaz screamed in pain, flying backward, crashing through trees as smoke rose around him.
"Eggs, eggs…"
Kamaz spat countless eggs toward Rebi. Calmly, she traced characters in the air: "Solid Kanji, Fire—Fire!" The flames incinerated the eggs instantly. She combined it with another spell: "Solid Kanji—Tornado," lifting the chicken-headed enemy into the air in a swirling vortex. Agonized screams filled the forest.
"Nice work, Rebi! Small in size but fierce in strength. Keep pushing the attack!"
Gajiru patted her head again in praise.
Rebi, embarrassed and flustered, jabbed him with her tiny fists. "Don't touch my head, Gajiru!"
"Ha ha ha~" Gajiru kept patting, ignoring the fallen enemies nearby, continuing to tease her, much to the enemy's frustration.
"Don't get cocky! When our main forces arrive, puny enemies like you will be crushed one by one!"
"Prepare to die… Seven Families, the most fearsome…"
The dog-headed enemy writhed in pain, yet the seven guild members worshiped the destruction, reveling in the imagined suffering of Fairy Tail.
"You don't need to worry about that. Main forces? Hmph!"
"You might not know, but all the S-rank mages of our guild are on this island! They won't survive this!"
Gajiru snorted, turning his gaze to the enemies as if looking at corpses.
"By the way, Rebi, Kael said something about… the word 'exterminate'!"
"Exterminate~"
"Sorry, both of you. Safe travels~ Dark Guild, you got what you deserved!"
"Boom~"
A massive column of smoke rose in the distance.
