Ignoring the situation behind her for the moment, Xu Jingyi was dragged along, utterly baffled.
Leaving with such a display of displeasure in front of so many people was impolite, but she held her tongue until they were in the car.
"What's wrong? What happened?
Did President Li harass you?"
Xu Jingyi saw that Lin Ruoyan's face was not good and wanted to comfort her.
However, Xu Jingyi still had some reservations, and although her tone was full of concern, her body deliberately maintained a distance.
Lin Ruoyan was still fuming and hadn't noticed anything amiss.
Her face was turned to the side, and her chest was still heaving dramatically from what had just happened.
"Ms. Xu, I'm asking you, please don't go to such lengths to find me these so-called excellent young men. I don't need them."
She lowered her voice, trying to control her tone, but her impatience was still evident.
This was the first time she had called Xu Jingyi.
"Ms. Xu" instead of "Sister-in-law."
Even when they had argued over their disagreements, she had still restrained herself, calling her sister-in-law to maintain some semblance of civility.
But now, she really couldn't hold back anymore.
"What will people think of me if you do this so publicly?
Huh? Do they think I'm so desperate to get married that I'm searching for a man all over the city?"
Xu Jingyi's face changed. Sure enough, "Did he do anything inappropriate to you?"
Her words were very clear.
Hearing them, Xu Jingyi understood that because she had caused someone to hallucinate, they thought Lin Ruoyan was desperate to get married, so they didn't even consider their own situation before trying to get involved.
"Ha, no, what could he do to me?" She sneered.
Having drunk some alcohol and already being angry, especially facing Xu Jingyi, she began to speak without reservation.
"He's interested in you, asking me if you're thinking about remarrying, if you'd consider him."
Xu Jingyi was a little taken aback by her words, but at least she knew Lin Ruoyan hadn't been harassed.
She patted her chest, relieved.
Lin Ruoyan's reaction made her even angrier. What did this mean? Facing Xu Jingyi, she was still not mature enough, and her words unconsciously became harsh.
"Ha, what? Are you thrilled that someone is interested in you?"
"Have you already decided you want to find another one?"
As soon as she finished speaking, she was slapped across the face. Xu Jingyi looked at her coldly, "Have you said enough?"
"What did I say wrong?"
Lin Ruoyan glared at her, her neck stiff. "I've told you so many times I don't want to date or go on blind dates, but you keep pushing it. Aren't you just using me as an excuse to find someone you like?"
Her voice trembled as she spoke. "How is it? Have you found someone you like recently?"
"As long as you show a little interest, they'll probably fall for you easily, right? Just like that man tonight, you didn't even have to do anything, and he was already hooked."
"Oh, so you like younger men, that's why you're using me as a cover."
Xu Jingyi was trembling with anger. She raised her arm again, but seeing the other person's fury, she lowered it.
"If that's what you think, then I really misjudged you," Xu Jingyi said, her voice chilling. "I wanted you to be happy, for Ruofeng's sake."
"Since that's the case, I won't interfere with you anymore. Do whatever you want."
"As for whether I remarry or who I like, it's none of your business.
We'll go our separate ways from now on, and we won't interfere with each other."
After she finished speaking, she turned and got out of the car, as if she didn't want to have anything more to do with her.
Lin Ruoyan was also angry, but she still subconsciously grabbed the other person's wrist to stop her from getting out of the car. After hesitating for a long time, she finally spoke, "Let's talk about it when we get home."
Xu Jingyi wasn't in the mood to listen to her now, and she sneered, asking, "Home? What home? Since I'm this kind of person in your heart, then from now on, I'm no longer your sister-in-law.
I'll go pack my things and move out in a few days."
Lin Ruoyan immediately panicked when she heard this.
She gripped Xu Jingyi's wrist even harder. Standing up, she put her arms around Xu Jingyi's waist to stop her from getting out of the car.
Both of them were angry, and both had considerable strength. In the struggle, Xu Jingyi's dress had its shoulder strap torn, and it slipped down, exposing half of her chest.
Xu Jingyi looked down and subconsciously glanced at Lin Ruoyan, only to see that Lin Ruoyan was staring at her chest. The air suddenly became silent.
Xu Jingyi stopped struggling and used her hands to pull the dress up, covering her chest as she sat back down obediently.
Her face was very red, whether it was because she had been drinking or for some other reason.
Lin Ruoyan's neck was also red. She instinctively took off her own clothes and draped them over Xu Jingyi.
Neither of them realized something was wrong, but that was the biggest problem.
The first night, Xu Jingyi dressed like that in front of her, and she didn't think anything of it. Later, in the fitting room, even more of Xu Jingyi's body was exposed, but now, just a little bit of exposure made her so shy.
Hiding and covering up like that was not normal.
But at the moment, Lin Ruoyan couldn't think so much. Her mind was blank, and she clenched her fists at her sides, trying to silently calm her breathing.
So white…
So soft…
She couldn't help but look at Xu Jingyi, only to see that the other person had almost buried her face in her coat.
"I'm sorry, sister-in-law, I didn't expect to ruin your clothes." She stammered an apology, "Um… I'll compensate you with a new one someday."
Xu Jingyi didn't say anything.
