Cherreads

Chapter 3 - Ch 3: Gleam

The ice like streets of the Scatten Bereich brought a spectacle about them. It seemed as if today they were there to welcome each step taken by it's travelers. Offering a confort within it's travelers that puts one at ease.

Among those that journeyed on these peaceful walkways, were a trio of Sternritters. They were a odd bunch to behold as they all seemed to be very different in form of fashion all the way too behavior. The blond haired boy, Gremmy, was wearing his usual long trech coat with a high collar and hood, along with trousers. While the long black haired girl, Giselle, wore a thigh-length sweater with black leggings. The short blonde, Liltotto, had on altered trench coat that formed into a skirt at the bottom and wore leggings.

As they were walking to a local store they displayed there traits very well. Gremmy was very curious about everything Giselle or Liltotto had to say. Giselle would frequently play around while walking, having her arms out to the sides and jumping from side to side with each step. Liltotto would spout curses every now and then while also staying in toon with the others.

Yet despite the groups oddities they enjoyed their stroll to the store. They kept there pace leisurely, while talking with each other. By doing so it allowed Gremmy to feel a great deal of emotions. Brightening his mind with thoughts about different esthetics that one could have for decor or designs on practical use things like clothes and housing. Though these may seem minimal Gremmy never truly spent much time with anyone in all the years he's spent in the wandenreich; he was mostly a recluse who stayed to himself after all.

Having absolutely enjoyed the walk with his fellow Sternritters he was even more excited when they came upon the shop they were heading to. It wasn't that fancy of a place as it was a general supplies store. The exterior was grey and covered in ice like the rest of the buildings in the Schatten Bereich. The front of the building consisted of one double door entrance and a sign that said "Mart" above it. Though the bland apparel was quite common place. Knowing this Gremmy thought maybe he could add a little bit of flare to this building. He thought of a Quincy five star symbol being added on the sides of the sign. He then added a blue reflective color starting from the middle of each star stretching to each end point. Scrunching a bit he took a look at the building once more and gave himself a personal pass on his work.

Whatching Gremmy magically change the shape of the building was a rather astonishing thing. His very mind molding the shape of his surroundings. It was something Giselle found to be very perplexing, but at the same time she felt drawn toward these strange abilities. She found his since of choice befitting of the building but had a lingering question.

"Hey Gremmy-kun," she began. " If you can change this building like it's some arts and crafts project, shouldn't you be able to change it into whatever you want?" Giselle finished her remark while staring toward Gremmy expectantly.

Noticing that Giselle might not fully understand he answered with a explanation.

" True, I could turn the whole building into something completely new. But I just wanted to add a little extra on the outside so it stood out some more. Also, in case you've forgotten I can do anything I imagine." He added truthfully.

Pausing for a moment Giselle thought about what he just said; He can do anything he imagines. Then asked him another question, " Wait does that mean you can make decorations to?" He titled his head up in thought for a second on how to respond.

Returning his gaze back to Giselle he said, "Yes and No". This made Giselle give him a confused look which he then explained. " I can make decorations but not without context of what type they would be. They could be for a birthday, festival, holiday, or random occasion. In which case I would have to imagine it being similar in design for those themes."

"Ok, then make the decorations I want," she said with a almost demanding tone. Gremmy stepped back a little stunned by Giselle's change in demeanor. "Just kidding," she snickered. Then began again, " Although that could've saved us a trip, yet here me are Gremmy-kun, if only you said something sooner. tsk, tsk, tsk." She raised her right arm towards him and started to wagged her finger during the last part to show her dissappointment in him.

Racking his mind he wanted to apologize but didn't want Liltotto to get angry either for not being stubborn. Which thinking of her, he realized the blonde he was mentioning wasn't next to them. Turning his attention to the store entrance he saw she was waiting on them.

Tapping her foot on the ground, Liltotto grew annoyed as the two quicies drew closer. "Let's go in, oh and stop bicker please when all we had to do was go into the god-dam store." They both went to apologize but opted to not test her patients and went inside.

The interior of the store greeted them with a open lobby. Further in was rows of shelves in each of the respective aisles. To the left of the store was a check out lane, with a employee waiting for customers to check out.

Liltotto took a quick look of her surroundings. Her eyes tracing the aisles, then landing back on her friend, " Gigi, remember the sweets?" Pausing she let her words sink, "Don't forget." Reminding her was for the best, since Liltotto wasn't too sure her friend would have actually remembered; she was kinda a airhead.

Giselle could see the admonishment in Liltotto's expression, causing her to shrink a little. She often does forget though recalling her own habits, so she understood her friends intention. Although wasn't going to do what she wanted just yet, "I wouldn't forget Lil-san but I want my decorations first, please." Then Giselle put on her cute face once again trying to charm her. Gremmy even seemed eager to take her side after that. Which Liltotto saw and ignored both of them, accepting that this was truly childish of Giselle. Yet she relented, " Fine let's grab your decorations." Giselle twirled in delight from her answere thinking her charms persuaded her.

Turning her attention back toward the store, Giselle took the lead of the trio,"This way." Walking to the right side of the store they came into a aisle that Giselle recognized. She guided them into the far back where decorations where stored. A small collection of Halloween themed items were there, including a tiny pumpkins, paper doll skeletons, stickers, and a witch hat.

Pure ecstatic joy filled Giselle's body as she looked at the different esthetics. Halloween was always her favorite holiday, it fit her so well, being the 'Zombie'. She gleefully picked up the witch hat sitting it on her head proclaiming, " Look I'm a evil witch come to put a curse on you for entering my lair. Now just one drop of my blood and you'll turn into a monster." Arching her brows she made gave a predatory smile like some madwomen, then cackled sinsterly.

Gremmy went to play along, "No, great witch don't curse me, a poor lad such as I, it would do no good. See I am but a peasant boy if I were to be a monster, my folk would be worried to the scare." False sympathy filled the witches face, " So you say my dear, but as a monster you will be much more terrifying." Then her face became much more malign, " So take my curse boy and know thy price for entering my domain." She then booped Gremmy as if he was now cursed. They then stood there for a moment before both of them bursted out laughing.

"Haha," Giselle was trying to catch her breath, "That was so... funny, you should try acting some time." Curious he asks, "Really?" He knew he wasn't that great but maybe- "No," she mused, completing his thoughts on the subject for him.

Returning her attention back to the decorations, she picked up the paper chain of skeletons unfolding them. She was enthralled in her own world of happiness. Taking the decoration she faced Liltotto with her arms stretched to her sides and hands on each end of the chain. "Look isn't it amazing, there like little baby skeletons, aren't they adorable, Lil." Liltotto could see how much fun she was having and grinned. "Yes Gigi, there adorable."

"Yeah!" She shouted, losing herself into her own world of merriment from Liltotto's approval. Her joy was so very contagious, uplifting, and outrageously so. It was to much, Liltotto's tough appearance began to falter. She couldn't allow that, so she tryed to carefully guide Giselles attiention to there other ojective.

"Gigi, now that we got your supplies, let's get the Candy," she said. Her words broke Giselle from her enchantment, facing herself toward Liltotto then let out a uncermouiously sigh. Started to speak she carried a little bit of gloom in her voice, "Ok...Lil let's go."

"Wait," Gremmy interrupted with a snap of his fingers, creating a backet out of thin air. "Here put everything into this and I'll carry it." Giselle's joy came back as she placed her items into the basket. She said a silent "thank you," then got ready to move onto the next aisle.

Giselle having been to this store many times found the aisle nearly instantly. However she was not expecting to see Berenice Gabrielli. She was picking out some Gummy like candy muttering to herself if whether they were any good.

"Hey! Berenice-san, what are you doing here," Giselle shouted. Berenice jolted up, she wasn't expecting to run into anyone she knew today, least of all a Sternritter. " well if you must know I happened to be looking for something sweet today. Although," she spotted Gremmy, " what are you three doing here?"

Lilltotto answered for them, " Shopping, what else?"

Berenice shruged, " Of course, I'll leave you to it then. But why is Gremmy with you? He never goes anywhere, I didn't even know if he ever went outside, if it wasn't for the commotion the other day."

The truth in her statement struck Gremmy, his anti social traits were as plane as day.

He knew his ability to interact with others was often repellant and egocentric. Something he himself has only just put aside for his curiosity.

" Well, Berenice-san, I was invited by Giselle-san to go with," he clarified.

Berenice still couldn't understand why Giselle would invite him. A man of all people to join her, unless she was planning to zombie fie them. She shook her head, dismissing such a notion since Giselle wasn't allowed to zombie Sternritters.

She began, " I suppose Giselle might do such a thing." Moving closer to Gremmy berenice lowers themself to wisper in his ear. "But be careful she's quite a sadist~"

He gulped, 'could she be like that? She hasn't seemed all that crazy but...' Suddenly Berenice was shoved back, Giselle having a death glare on her face. Her eyes lifeless with a layer of disdain and dred. Which quickly reverted back to normal with her usual care freeness.

"Oops, my bad berenice I didn't mean to push you I just saw you two were a little to close," Giselle apolgizes.

Berenice forced a smile, " No it's my fault I should've know better. Sorry Gremmy wasn't trying to make you uncomfortable." She turned back to take the gummy she was thinking of buying. Then gave a quick farewell before walking off. If you listened closely however you could here her mutter "bitch" when leaving.

Gremmy was left there to wander if what she said was true, but would have think on it later. Liltotto had sweets that needed bought.

" Such a drag," Liltotto remarked on there interaction.

"She isn't that bad Lil, she just puts herself out to much," Giselle commented. Which Liltotto inwardly knew she was faking.

"Let's finish the shopping," she said. Going to the rows of varies candies. She was by no means a picky eater so she just added as much as she could to the backet. A grin forming on her face, "There that will be enough."

They then went to the check out lane. Which went smoothly as the employee checked all there goods with great speed and precision. Once they were done he had even given them a respectful bow.

Finally completing their trip, they exited the building. Engaging themselves with small talk as they traveled back to the Silbern.
