Xavier's POV:
It was all perfect—until the bus driver had to ruin everything. Seriously, could he not see I was in the middle of something important? My moment with Alex was finally heating up. She was practically in my arms, her breath quickening as I held her close, her pulse racing beneath my fingertips. The world outside the bus, the usual noise of school, the dull hum of the engine—everything had faded. There was just us. That was all that mattered.
And then, of course, the damn bus driver had to yell for us to get off. "Get out, you two! I need to take the bus back to the garage!" His voice was sharp, harsh—an interruption I didn't need. He couldn't have picked a worse time. He completely wrecking the fragile spell I had cast between me and Alexandria.
