By the time we reached Yun Si's apartment building, the sky had completely darkened.
I tilted my head slightly, looking up at the familiar structure. It was almost identical to my own place, just a little bigger. My hand moved to my phone again, turning the screen on.
There was still no reply from Su Ye.
I pressed my lips together, staring at his name for a brief second, then locked the phone again. He must be busy, I told myself.
Yun Si pulled the car into a parking spot and turned off the engine. "Come on. You look half-dead," she said as she unbuckled her seatbelt.
I forced a small smile and stepped out of the car, my legs still feeling a little heavy. The cool night air brushed against my face as we walked toward the entrance.
Inside the building, the lobby lights glowed softly. Everything smelled faintly of air freshener and polished marble. We approached the elevator, and Yun Si pressed the button without hesitation.
The doors slid open with a soft ding.
