Noah's POV
I grabbed his hand before he could take another step, my fingers tightening around his wrist as if letting go might mean losing the truth forever. His body froze at my touch, going rigid instantly.
"Noah," he said sharply, his voice dropping into that familiar warning tone that used to make my stomach twist and my words trip over themselves. "For the millionth time, fucking let it go."
There was a time when that voice would've scared me into silence. Back then, I would've nodded, apologized, and shrunk back into myself like I always did.
But not anymore.
I didn't let him go. Instead, I stepped closer, forcing him to face me, my heart pounding so loud I was sure he could hear it. My hands shook, but my voice held steady, which felt like a small miracle.
"No," I said, quiet but firm. "I won't."
There was a reason why some people knew me to be quite stubborn.
