Celine Holmes was nine the day her world ended. One moment, she was laughing in the back seat of her father’s car, excited for her birthday trip.

I walked out of the building, following the scent of his cologne, to the back of the hotel compound. Then I saw them. Two other men in suits had joined them, and they were talking in hushed tones as always, but I could strain my ears to glean some information.


"Mr Clifford had left ten minutes ago," one of the men in suits said, "He couldn't wait any longer; he said that you should meet him in the hotel next to yours."


"He said that?" Mr Cassian said, with a cold tone. He looked towards Lucas and then back at the men in suits. He let out a dry laugh and then brought his gun.


With a loud bang, he wasted the man who had spoken first. A cold chill ran down my spine. Did he just kill someone?


I couldn't move from the spot I stood, and I was shivering from head to toe. I noticed him trying to turn, and I hid swiftly behind the large flower vase decorating the compound corner of the hotel.
