Su Muying, caught off guard by the ambush, froze. She looked at Wang Zhi, whose eyes were bloodshot, and felt the crushing sensation of suffocation. She hadn't expected Wang Zhi to have been enduring the situation just to launch a sneak attack on her.
The few people nearby felt their hearts tighten as they watched Wang Zhi pin down and choke Su Muying. The most nervous was Fatty; he was trembling all over. He dared not imagine what fate awaited Wang Zhi next; in any case, he was already starting to feel afraid for Wang Zhi.
"Choke harder!" Wang Zhi gritted his teeth and said. He knew Su Muying was currently unable to speak because of his grip. He held on tightly, not daring to loosen his hold even slightly, afraid that she would break free, causing all his efforts to be wasted.
Su Muying's gaze also hardened, and she reached out to grip Wang Zhi's neck. Veins bulged on her hand, and Wang Zhi, too, fell into a state of suffocation.
The two mutually choked each other's necks, neither daring to ease their grip. Seeing that the situation was deteriorating, the others nearby rushed forward one after another.
"Stop fighting, both of you."
"Wang Zhi, let go quickly."
The crowd only shouted from the side but didn't rush forward to pull them apart, because interfering rashly before either side let go would likely make the situation worse.
"Wang Zhi, you should just apologize to Ying," You Luo advised from the side.
Both of their faces had turned purplish-red, and their bodies began to tremble. Su Muying's fingernails were gradually digging into both sides of Wang Zhi's neck.
Wang Zhi saw Su Muying's consciousness gradually weakening, yet she still hadn't tapped the ground to beg for mercy. He gradually loosened his grip, knowing that if Su Muying had wanted to, with their combined strength, they could have easily snapped both their necks, but neither of them did.
Seeing Wang Zhi release his grip, Su Muying exerted force in her arms and heavily flung him off her body.
You Luo and Old He helped them both up, respectively.
"What... what were you two doing?"
Only after the two separated did Long Yi of the Flying Tiger Team dare to step forward and ask.
Su Muying took a couple of deep breaths and, once she recovered, pushed You Luo away, looking down at Wang Zhi, and said, "What was the point of your sneak attack/ You would have been dead the moment I turned around. Did you just want to stab me in the back?"
"Captain Wang... just apologize to Sister Ying quickly. You can't win against her," Fatty whispered anxiously beside Wang Zhi.
Wang Zhi did not look up at Ying, but slowly turned his head toward Fatty, his eyes red and somewhat at a loss.
"What did I do wrong?" Wang Zhi asked Fatty, staring at him, who was telling him to apologize.
"Hiss, you're confused, Captain Wang! What right or wrong is there now? You already lost just now; the winner takes all." Fatty urged anxiously.
"I'm sorry, Sister Ying, it was my fault just now." Wang Zhi said, still not raising his head. Yes, the winner takes all.
"What I want isn't an apology, you know that!" Seeing Wang Zhi apologize, Su Muying's expression turned cold again. After speaking, she turned and left.
What I want isn't an apology.
Ying's words took deep root in Wang Zhi's heart, like a guiding light, illuminating the path ahead for him.
"Yes... what she wants isn't an apology, but the ambition to reach the heavens!" Wang Zhi muttered, staring at Ying's departing back.
They had known each other for almost a year, and this was the first time Ying had acted this way toward him. Perhaps it was disappointment, or perhaps dissatisfaction, but the sentiment Ying ultimately expressed was that he should never again be a good-for-nothing who couldn't get back up.
After Su Muying left, everyone's gaze fell upon Wang Zhi.
"It's time to eat." Wang Zhi stood up, brushed the dust off himself, and walked after Su Muying, who was already far away.
...
At a certain Base, Tanaka Jaku sat with several subordinates in a room. Just then, the door was pushed open, and Ling walked in.
"Commander." Ling said to Tanaka Jaku, keeping her head bowed.
"Sit down. You've worked hard out there these past few days."
"I dare not!" Ling, whose mission had failed, replied humbly.
"Heh heh... As for why you were exposed... there was a traitor in Headquarters. You don't need to blame yourself."
"A traitor?!" Hearing the word 'traitor,' Ling suddenly looked up, her eyes wide. She had suffered greatly outside during this time, only to be betrayed by her own people in the end. This made her somewhat angry.
"Don't worry. The Commander himself is handling this matter, so you all don't need to trouble yourselves. The Commander has arranged another task."
As tanaka Jaku spoke, he tossed a photograph of Wang Zhi onto the table and said, "This person-if you encounter him anywhere in the future, remember! You are not allowed to kill him, nor are you allowed to let him go. If this person still exists in this World, capture him, and the Commander will grant a great reward!"
Several subordinates picked up the photograph from the table, each looking at the unfamiliar face, all somewhat bewildered. Why were they suddenly tasked with capturing someone?
Seeing their confusion, Tanaka Jaku chuckled lightly and said, "These are the Commander's instructions. As for why we must do such a foolish thing as capturing a person whose fate is unknown-I don't know either."
As Tanaka Jaku spoke, Ling was already trembling, greatly shocked inwardly.
"Bang! Commander!" Ling cried out in agitation, standing up and slapping the photograph onto the table.
Tanaka Jaku was startled by Ling's sudden outburst and frowned, "What is it?"
"Commander, the person in the photograph... I've seen him!" Ling stared at Tanaka Jaku and said.
"Are you sure?! You've seen him? When? Where?!" Hearing Ling's words, Tanaka Jaku reacted with even more excitement than Ling, because he knew what the Commander's generous reward meant-it meant promotion, greater authority, and more reliance.
"I am absolutely sure! It was the group that came to the camp; he seemed to be their leader!" Ling replied.
"Wonderful! Simply wonderful! This way, we kill two birds with one stone! Heaven truly helps me! Hahaha! Ling, once this is accomplished, I certainly won't treat you unfairly." The more Tanaka Jaku spoke, the more excited he became; he was already picturing the scene after the reward.
"Then, Commander, what is our next step?" Ling asked.
"don't rush, let me think. Do you know where they went?" Tanaka Jaku inquired.
Ling shook her head. "No idea. They only led us thirty kilometers before abandoning all of us, and their attitude was resolute."
"Oh dear... Right, then why couldn't you plant the chip on their vehicle?" Tanaka Jaku questioned after a moment of thought.
"This... they were on high alert at the time; I couldn't retrieve the chip. Even if I had, it would have been discovered." Ling was momentarily stunned, immediately explaining, though she truly hadn't considered it then.
"Ling, you are still too young. But it's fine; you have already completed an important task." Tanaka Jaku patted Ling's shoulder.
"You all go back first! I need to quickly report this matter to the Commander so he knows this person still exists in this world!" Tanaka Jaku said, his eyes shining.
