Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Player-Made Exoskeleton Armor

"So I need to reach Level 10 to implant Gene-seed?"

Qin Yun looked at the prompt, lost in thought.

The physical prowess of a Level 10 player far exceeded that of an ordinary person.

But in the Warhammer universe, such powerhouses barely met the basic requirements for Astartes ascension.

"I still need to keep saving up Faith Points to exchange for Gene-seed."

After checking the requirements for becoming an Astartes, Qin Yun looked at the time-limited missions.

[Time-limited Mission: Assist Belisarius Cawl in traveling to Macragge.

The Fortress of Cadia has fallen, the Era of Ending is upon us, and humanity faces its greatest crisis ever. Yet, a sliver of hope remains amidst the despair.

After ten thousand years of work, Belisarius Cawl has created a mysterious suit of armor capable of resurrecting a Primarch.

Unfortunately, the Despoiler, Abaddon, has also learned this news.

He has dispatched his most capable agents to prevent the Primarch's resurrection.

Phase 1: Assist Belisarius Crawl in escaping Cadia (Mission expired, invalid)

Phase 2: Assist Belisarius Cawl in evading Abaddon's pursuing forces and reaching Macragge (In progress, available to accept)]

[Time-limited Mission: Assist the Blood Angels Chapter in resisting the Leviathan Fleet

The Hive Mind covets the Blood Angels with their unique gene-sequence.

It has dispatched the Leviathan Fleet intending to destroy the Blood Angels' home world and obtain this unique gene-sequence.

Phase 1: Assist Chapter Master Dante in defending the Baal System (Mission expired, invalid)

Phase 2: Assist the fleet in delaying the Tyranid fleet in the void (Mission expired, invalid)

Phase 3: Assist the Blood Angels and their successor chapters in resisting the Tyranids on Baal (In progress, available to accept)

Friendly reminder: The mission location is within a Warp anomaly zone. Time flow in this area differs from other regions. Please consider carefully.]

"Mechanicus Archmagos Belisarius Cawl is heading to Macragge! That means Guilliman hasn't been resurrected yet."

Due to the Warp, time varies across different sectors.

After the Great Rift expanded, time in various regions became chaotic.

For example, the Battle for Baal only lasted a few months for the Blood Angels and the Tyranids, but decades passed elsewhere.

Until now, Qin Yun only knew he was in the Era of Ending, but not the specific galactic situation.

From the descriptions of the time-limited missions, he managed to figure out the current timeline.

Guilliman not being resurrected yet meant events like the Lion's Gate incident, the Indomitus Crusade, the Plague Wars, etc., hadn't happened.

"With my current strength, even if I rushed over, I wouldn't be of much help!"

"Better to enhance my strength as quickly as possible, then participate in the battle for Macragge, to gain the Primarch's support and trust."

Guilliman is the Imperial Regent and, for a long time, the only loyalist Primarch awake.

His power is staggering.

He can mobilize the entire Imperium's manpower and resources.

Gaining his support would make many troubles insignificant.

Qin Yun had died once and personally experienced the horrors of the Warp.

He knew clearly that without the Emperor's protection, his end would be miserable.

With the Great Rift open, the Gods and the Emperor would take the field personally, and a final outcome was inevitable.

If the Imperium lost, the Chaos Gods would devour the entire galaxy as prophesied.

As for other factions, if humanity lost, they'd probably be finished too.

The Aeldar are now a dying race.

The Ynnari are solely focused on resurrecting Ynnead to fight Slaanesh.

But one of the Croneswords needed to resurrect the Aeldari God of the Dead is in Slaanesh's possession.

The Orks don't care what happens to the galaxy.

They just want to WAAAGH!.

The Necrons slept for 60 million years; their minds are muddled.

Although their technology is advanced, their entire race is fragmented, a scattered mess.

As for the T'au Empire... Qin Yun just wants to laugh.

Regarding the Tyranids, you should be thankful if they don't eat you.

Qin Yun had no choice but to tie himself firmly to the Emperor and the Imperium on the same war chariot.

Helping the Imperium, helping humanity strive for victory, was the only choice.

If all else fails, getting Guilliman to agree to install thrusters on Terra would be an option.

Then, if the situation looks bad, they could just leave.

Performing a Warhammer 40k version of The Wandering Earth with the Emperor.

The battle to reclaim in the Space Station was in full swing.

Most players were diligently earning Faith Points, Contribution Points, and leveling up.

But some players disliked combat and preferred tinkering with all sorts of things.

For example, Dora (Dora is the true Omnissiah), whose real-world profession involved intelligent algorithms and robotics.

After entering the game, he initially followed other players to kill zombies and cultists.

But as he fought, he started thinking about something else.

Warhammer OL was a 100% realistic game.

You could repair reactors, pilot battleships.

Even real-world knowledge and professional skills could be used here.

So why not do what he loved within the game?

No time like the present.

He gathered a few players and founded Dora's Workshop.

The workshop's first goal was to create low-cost exoskeletons.

Tech-Priest Tena had a few sets of exoskeletons for sale, but they were expensive.

An industrial exoskeleton for maintenance work cost five hundred thousand Contribution Points.

Players at this stage were pitifully poor.

After getting cybernetic implants or physical enhancements, their remaining Contribution Points were meager, simply couldn't afford an exoskeleton.

And the combat boost from an exoskeleton was obvious.

No player could resist an exoskeleton suit that turned them into a firepower maniac.

Dora saw this market opportunity and prepared to go all out.

If successful, not only could they make a fortune, but they could also realize their dreams.

Human technology isn't actually bad.

In some areas, it even surpasses that of the Necrons and Aeldari.

But due to the Mechanicus's conservatism and stubbornness, products must have a corresponding Standard Template Construct (STC) to be produced.

Otherwise, they are deemed heretical and destroyed by Mechanicus purge fleets.

However, for players like Dora and his group,

The Mechanicus's rules and threats were less valuable than scrap paper.

What kind of player doesn't mess around?

Dora's Workshop quickly assembled their first product using available materials - the Tomorrow I Exoskeleton.

As for why it was called that, because they copied the exoskeleton design from The Tomorrow War.

The cost of one Tomorrow I Exoskeleton was close to zero.

Because there were few people, many warehouses and factories were unguarded, and supplies weren't inventoried.

The players of Dora's Workshop directly took components from warehouses and used factory equipment, essentially at no cost.

Warmaster's team, freshly rested and ready to set out on a mission, was approached mysteriously by Dora.

"Hey, bro, want some gear?"

"What gear?" Warmaster looked at him, confused.

"Exoskeleton armor."

Warmaster's eyes widened, "You're privately selling equipment??"

"Not selling, we made it ourselves," Dora said.

Warmaster looked puzzled, "You made it?"

"Right, Dora's Workshop product, guaranteed quality. Come on, take a look even if you don't buy."

Dora pulled Warmaster into a room.

There were a few other players inside.

Seeing Warmaster and the others enter, they quickly stepped aside.

Warmaster and his team saw an exoskeleton suit placed in the middle of the room.

"Tomorrow I Exoskeleton Armor, load capacity five hundred kilograms, equipped with 24 servo motors, muscle-sensing drive, millisecond-level response, battery life 24 hours, equipped with two heavy machine guns. A proper heavy weapons platform."

Dora introduced the exoskeleton's parameters to Warmaster and the others.

"You built this?" Jūrō looked at Dora.

"We built it," Dora said proudly.

"Interesting, how much are you selling it for?"

Warmaster examined the exoskeleton armor, showing interest.

"Fifty thousand," Dora held up a hand, "Just a fraction of Tech-Priest Tena's shop price."

"No thanks," Warmaster turned to leave.

"Don't be hasty, the price is negotiable, negotiable."

"Twenty thousand."

"Meet me halfway, forty-five thousand."

"Eighteen thousand."

"Hey, wait, why are you lowering the offer?"

"Sixteen thousand. If you sell at this price, we'll take five sets. Otherwise, who can guarantee the quality of this shoddy work? What if it blows up halfway."

"Really can't sell at that price, won't even cover costs. For five sets, I'll give them to you for one hundred fifty thousand."

"Too expensive."

"Then how much do you say?"

"One hundred twenty thousand at most, not a point more."

"Deal!"

Dora slapped his thigh, "I'll make this sale even at a loss today."

After happily receiving 120,000 Contribution Points, Dora had people bring over five Tomorrow I Exoskeleton Armors for delivery.

The five players of Warmaster's squad put on the exoskeleton armor and went off to complete their mission.

While exoskeleton power armor couldn't compare to proper Power Armor, the boost to player combat power was still exaggerated.

The two heavy auto-cannons on the shoulders and the 500 kg load capacity turned them into mobile heavy weapons units.

Wherever they went, the zombie hordes were swept clean, much faster than anyone else's clearing speed.

Back and forth, Dora's Workshop built a reputation for being affordable and reliable.

Many players came to them to buy exoskeleton armor, and business boomed for a while.

Even the Imperial soldiers watched with eager eyes, wishing they had a set themselves.

Qin Yun soon learned about the players privately manufacturing exoskeleton equipment.

He knew this day would come eventually.

If the Fourth Great Chaos God of Gamer didn't pull off some crazy stunts, could they even be called the Fourth Great Chaos God of Gamer?

This was also why he had felt relieved when he heard Tena was from a Forge World on the galactic fringe.

If it were the conservatives from Mars, they'd probably shout about the inviolability of ancestral laws and then order servitors to gun down the players.

"This kind of thing should be encouraged and supported. Provide them with an interest-free loan."

Qin Yun initially thought about giving a direct reward.

But considering that if players had too many Contribution Points, it might hinder their motivation to strive.

He decisively chose another method of support.

Give them interest-free loans, let them hire people, improve products, and expand production scale.

The industrial mass-production approach rests on the players.
