It was a surprise...
A very, VERY big surprise indeed. Being a father? Norrak did not know what to feel at the moment, and to be completely honest, he didn't want to think, because he knew it would only be the negatives.
It's not that Norrak thought Katara being pregnant was bad, or that he didn't want a child... Well, he didn't, but that's besides the point.
But... He was only 22 years old, he was in his prime, his body bursting wiht energy, his heart filled with fighting intent and the desire to keep fucking around with his girls.
He wasn't ready to be a father at such a young age, not to mention that he and the girls are already functionally immortal due to being able to control the ageing of their cells.
What use was a child in their life if they would pass away before their own parents? Yeah, they could be talented and able to become immortal as well, but that's a 1 in a hundred million chance.
Norrak already knows his Six Eyes can't be passed down to his kids because his eyes are not just genetic, but bound to his very soul and existence, so he can't hope for this.
And it's not a guarantee that the kids will be as talented as their mother. Each of these women has a generational talent, and that's something that only comes once in a millennium.
Katara can bend the four elements and every sub-element of water bending, lightning bending from fire, metal bending from earth, and do some crazy shit with wind.
Azula is a genius firebender who is the most talented in the history of firtebending. Born with blue flames, able to utilise every subbending of fire, and even use plasmabending.
And don't even get started with Toph, the best and strongest earthbender in history. Able to bend earth, metal, magma, and create explosions the size of nuclear bombs.
All three of those girls are talented beyond compare, and they could potentially acquire the skill of immortality due to their exceptional talent; however, the children they would have would not be guaranteed to inherit those talents.
Heck, even Mai and Ty Lee, in the four years they gained their water and airbending, have already completely mastered it. Mai can create ice and control blood, while Ty Lee is a menace with airbending.
All five of them have generational talent.
[With Norrak and the girls...]
Norrak paced around the room, the struggles of Katara's labour from the other room loud in his ears. Sweat slid down his temple as he listened to the pained gasps.
"Stop worrying, you big doofus! Cheer up, you're gonna be a father any second from now, though I wish it was mine..." Not able to take it anymore, Toph spoke up with an annoyed tone at Norrak's antics.
Norrak stopped pacing around, Toph's words allowing him to think in the moment, and his worries to lessen.
"You should listen to Toph. Nothing is going to happen, you'll be an awesome dad," Mai spoke up, sitting on a bench with her arms crossed and her legs crossed, smiling at Norrak's cute actions.
It's rare for Norrak to be so disturbed or worried.
"You know that's not what I'm worried about... I'm worried about whether Katara even wanted to have a child," Norrak shook his head with a deep sigh as he looked at the girls.
He was lying like a motherfucker right now, because he was the one who did not want a kid... It did not matter since he knew that Katara actually wanted a kid.
It doesn't matter.
Suddenly.
"Wah! Wah! Wah! Wah!"
The loud cries of a baby rang out from the room, and Norrak immediately burst into the room with worry, his eyes instantly locking onto Katara and the baby in her arms.
Katara looked tired, lying on the bed, her hair dishevelled and sticking to her face from the sweat of her labour. She had a gentle smile on her face, her blue eyes locked onto the baby in her arms.
"Well, I know he is gonna be a charming fellow in the future~," Ty Lee wiped her hands with a cloth from the juices that got on her while she helped Katara give birth.
"Yes, he will definitely break many hearts in the future, my handsome little babyu~," Katara nodded in agreement, reaching out to gently touch the tuft of white hair on the baby's head.
The baby was breathtaking, with very light caramel skin, white hair, and deep blue eyes. Norrak watched without blinking, his eyes locked onto the baby in Katara's arms.
Katara looked up at Norrak, and the smile on her face slightly dimmed, but she was still very happy nevertheless. She knew what was going on in his mind; she always knows what he is thinking.
"Tch! What in the hell is this? Be a man and go hold your child! Don't you see Katara is tired?!" Suddenly, an angry voice filtered through the air, and Norrak turned to look at Azula, who had just walked into the room.
"I-I was going to..." Norrak replied with a stutter as he walked forward to the bedside, his hands taking the baby gently. Norrak placed the baby into his arms as Katara watched with relief.
Time seemed to stop for Norrak, his eyes analysing every single cell in the baby's body. His lips cracked into the tiniest of smiles, his eyes softening from their previous tense light.
"Gaga?"
The baby stopped crying as if by instinct, and her eyes locked onto Norrak. Her little chubby hands reach out to try and touch his chin, soft laughter escaping her lips.
Norrak couldn't take it anymore.
"MY PRINCESS!"
Norrak let out a shout, his eyes curling into smiles as he placed a finger on the baby's lips, who instantly started suckling on his finger wiht delight.
"Princess?"
The tired Katara questioned with confusion. Everyone in the room looked towards Ty Lee instantly, who froze, before a nervous smile broke out on her face.
"I wanted to see if Norrak would prefer a boy or a girl, so I kind of lied," Ty Lee confessed, her shoulders tense and a hint of guilt in her tone. Everyone sighed at Ty Lee's words, shaking their heads.
Katara looked back up at Norrak and her baby, curiosity in her eyes as she opened her mouth to voice a curious question.
"Norrak, I am curious as well. Would you want a boy or a girl?" Katara asked wiht a smile, and Norrak looked up from the baby in his arms, pondering for a few seconds.
"A daughter, I want a daughter because she won't be rebellious when growing up," Norrak finally answered, and Katara chuckled in amusement with a shake of her head.
A daughter is better than a son.
"Do you have a name for her?" Toph stepped forward while asking. She raised a hand and curiously pressed her finger against the baby's cheek, instantly feeling obsessed as she smiled wiht shining eyes.
Norrak looked at Katara, who nodded, indicating he should name her.
"Let's name her..." Norrak paused before smiling as he looked down at the baby in his arms.
"Aqua!"
