Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: You're a Bit Too Extreme

Soon, Coulson arrived on the scene with a squad of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

He immediately saw the smoking Thor and asked with a puzzled expression, "What's with him?"

Du Mu shrugged. "He said he was the God of Thunder, so I just gave him a little shock. Who knew he was so poor at handling electricity."

"God of Thunder?"

Coulson raised an eyebrow, clearly disbelieving Thor's claim.

He crouched down and checked Thor's breathing, confirming he was alive, just knocked unconscious by the electricity.

"Take him away and keep him under strict guard. Notify me immediately when he wakes up."

Coulson ordered his agents, then turned to Du Mu. "Your mission remains the same: keep a close watch on the hammer."

"Okay."

Du Mu returned to his lounge chair and picked up his comic book again.

The other agents began the busy work of processing the scene, lifting the unconscious Thor and carrying him away.

The next day.

Du Mu received a message from Coulson that Thor had woken up and needed his assistance.

When Du Mu arrived outside the temporary detention room, he saw Coulson interrogating Thor.

But Thor wouldn't listen to anything. He shouted, "Mortal, return Mjolnir to me at once! If you return it, I will reward you handsomely when I return to Asgard and take the throne!"

The words sounded about as trustworthy as a scammer asking for money in the name of the First Emperor of China.

Coulson's ears were ringing from the noise. Seeing that communication was impossible, he reluctantly retreated.

Stepping out and seeing Du Mu, Coulson rubbed his temples and sighed. "The guy won't give us anything. He just keeps demanding Mjolnir. I looked it up—Mjolnir is the Hammer of Thor in Norse mythology, the weapon of the God of Thunder, Thor."

"Looks like this guy is really committed to the role," Du Mu chuckled, and with some curiosity, he looked through the observation window at the shouting Thor inside.

[NPC: Thor Odinson]

[Code Name: Thor]

[Affinity: -10]

[Assessment: God of the Hammer, for the glory of the Northern Gods. The Uchiha of Marvel. His strength increases with every family member sacrificed]

[Status: Divine Power Sealed]

Holy cow, this guy really is Thor!

Du Mu was stunned.

Vampires were one thing, but now a god from Norse mythology had popped up.

If that was the case, the hammer outside must be Mjolnir.

Du Mu's mind whirled. He said to Coulson, "Let me go in and talk to him."

Then, without waiting for Coulson's response, he pushed the door and walked into the detention room.

Seeing Du Mu's arrival, Thor, who was shouting happily a moment ago, immediately stopped.

"It's you!"

Thor recognized Du Mu and said furiously, "You vile mortal! How dare you ambush the great God of Thunder!"

Du Mu raised an eyebrow. "A God of Thunder getting knocked out by electricity?"

Thor suddenly fell silent, a flash of awkwardness crossing his face. He stubbornly craned his neck and argued, "That's because my divine power has been sealed! Once I retrieve Mjolnir, I can recover my power!"

[NPC Thor Odinson has issued a new quest to you]

[Quest: Mortal Thor]

[Goal: Help the powerless Thor retrieve Mjolnir]

[Reward: EXP +500, Thor Affinity +30, Item * 1]

Du Mu looked at the quest notification and chuckled. "I don't mind helping you get the hammer, but first, you have to tell me how you ended up here."

"Really? You're willing to help me?"

Thor's eyes lit up as if he had grasped a lifeline.

Desperate to get his hammer back, he didn't bother hiding anything and immediately recounted his experience.

In short, on his coronation day, Thor was provoked by the Frost Giants. In a fit of rage, he led a small group to attack their stronghold, Jotunheim, sparking a war between the two realms. This angered his father, who stripped him of his divine power and banished him and his hammer to Earth.

Du Mu was speechless upon hearing the story.

As a god who had lived for thousands of years, Thor had participated in countless battles. By all accounts, he should be a highly experienced warrior.

Yet, a thousand years of experience led Thor to blindly charge into the enemy's main base!

Is this guy made of muscle, even in his brain?

Du Mu shook his head. "Daring to break into the opposing side's headquarters with just a few people—no wonder your father was so angry."

"You think I shouldn't have done that?"

Thor was quite indignant.

The Frost Giants of Jotunheim had clearly provoked them first. He was only retaliating in kind, but his father chose to banish him to maintain peace.

Du Mu shook his head. "No, I just think your method was too inefficient. Doesn't your Bifrost bridge let you teleport people? Why didn't you just teleport the Jotunheim boss to your territory and then have a righteous group beating? Wouldn't that be better?"

Thor: "..."

Oh right, why didn't I think of that?

Du Mu continued, "If that fails, you could always teleport tens of thousands of nuclear bombs to their territory. I guarantee they wouldn't even dare to breathe heavily afterward."

They probably wouldn't even be breathing at all!

Thor hesitated. "Uh, wouldn't that be a bit much?"

As a highly advanced civilization, Asgard knew exactly what nuclear bombs were.

"Foolish! Hasn't your father practically spelled it out for you? What he wants is nuclear peace!"

Du Mu spoke with an air of disappointment, saying, "There's a saying: Truth only lies within the range of a cannon's fire. Only when you hurt them will they fear you!"

If we actually did that, all of Jotunheim would be gone, and there'd be no one left for us to deal with.

Thor muttered to himself.

As a member of the radical faction, he found Du Mu to be a bit too extreme.

"My father probably didn't mean that," Thor scratched his head.

Du Mu scoffed. "You claim that Asgard is the strongest of the Nine Realms. Do you really think that strength was achieved through peace?"

Thor was momentarily speechless and couldn't refute him.

Could my father actually have meant that?

Du Mu waved his hand. "Forget it, you think about it. I'll take you to get the hammer first."

"Good!"

At the mention of the hammer, Thor immediately tossed his doubts aside and followed Du Mu out of the detention room with renewed excitement.

Coulson didn't stop them. With Du Mu here, Thor posed no threat.

He looked at Du Mu and said, "Do you really think he's the God of Thunder?"

"Let him try."

Du Mu shrugged, leading Thor back to the area where the hammer rested.

"Mjolnir! My old friend!"

The moment Thor saw the hammer, his eyes burst with a light of wild joy. He strode confidently up to the hammer.

"Watch closely, mortals!"

Thor roared with confidence, clutching the leather-wrapped grip of the hammer with his right hand, eager to regain his power.

He took a deep breath and began to pull the hammer up with force.

However...

The hammer remained absolutely motionless.

The wild joy on Thor's face instantly froze, turning into disbelief.

Unwilling to give up, he strained again, veins bulging on his forehead, pulling upward with all his might.

But no matter how hard he pulled, the hammer lay steadily in place, not even lifting a millimeter.

After several fruitless attempts, Thor finally released his grip in despair.

He stumbled backward, his knees buckling. He fell onto the muddy ground with a thump, and roared up at the sky!

"No—!"
