Chapter 83 - Chapter 83 — That Evening

Maple Hollow had settled into its nighttime calm, the soft glow of streetlamps reflecting off the damp leaves. Inside Hannah's apartment, the golden light of lamps and the faint scent of vanilla and tea made the space feel warm, intimate, and alive.

Emma was curled up on the couch, blanket draped over her shoulders, sketchbook set aside as her eyes followed Hannah moving around the room. Hannah hummed lightly, adjusting cushions and tidying the shelves, filling the apartment with a quiet, steady energy that made every corner feel alive.

"You make evenings feel… complete," Emma said softly, her voice warm and gentle.

Hannah smiled, settling beside her. Their shoulders brushed, fingers intertwined naturally. "It's easier when the person next to me makes everything feel right," she murmured.

Emma leaned lightly against Hannah, resting her head on her shoulder. "It's the little things, isn't it? The laughter, quiet talks, the just-being-together moments… That's what makes everything perfect."

Hannah's thumb brushed over Emma's hand. "Exactly. The little moments are what make all the days worth it."

They lingered close, letting the soft hum of the night and the gentle glow of the lamps fill the spaces between them. It was quiet intimacy — steady, reassuring, and full of warmth — the kind that didn't need words, only the simple comfort of closeness.

When Emma finally stood to leave, they lingered at the door, hands still entwined. "See you tomorrow?" Hannah asked softly.

"Every day," Emma replied, squeezing her hand gently. "Every single day with you."

Hannah watched her step into the night, the apartment around her feeling like a gentle promise: that even ordinary evenings could feel extraordinary when shared together.
