Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

I was currently on the edge of my bed, staring wordlessly at the wall, thoughts drifting through nothing in particular.

After Professor Rock's speech to the Sleepers, we were free to go. I stopped by the cafeteria and ate a light meal before heading to my room.

The room I was assigned was decent, although it couldn't compare to my rooms in Ravenheart or my room in the estate that my family owned, not that I cared anyway. Only a fool would think that this place would be able to compete with Ravenheart or even the estate. And I had bigger things to worry about.

I summoned my runes and quickly located the lines that held information about my memories. I looked at the memory that I had received from the awakened terror I killed during my first nightmare.

Mind manipulating bastard.

Memory: [Songweaver's Raiment]

Rank: Awakened

Memory Tier: V

Memory Type: Armor

Memory Description: [In forgotten halls where silence once reigned, a creature sang. The Songweaver wove melodies from the threads of reality itself, each note a strand of ethereal light. Its voice could mend wounds or shatter minds, depending on the tune it chose to sing. When the creature finally fell, its death song echoed through the halls for seven days and seven nights. The melody crystallized into threads that would not fade, beautiful and terrible, forever remembering the voice that created them. Those who wear this armor hear whispers of songs that were never meant for mortal ears.]

Memory Enchantments:

[Silent Steps]: "The wearer's footsteps make no sound, allowing them to move in complete silence."

Huh?

Why can I see the enchantments?

I blinked, staring at the runes floating before me. This shouldn't be possible. I thought the spell didn't display that type of information except for Sunny because of his Blood Weave attribute. I paused for a second, my mind racing through the possibilities. Could this be the effect of my [Third Eye] attribute?

So that's what it did.

A grin spread across my face, something close to excitement bubbling in my chest. The ability to see enchantments was incredibly convenient.

How lucky am I? Normal awakened only had a feeling for what enchantments their memories possessed, but I could simply summon the runes and check.

Do I have the lucky attribute or what?

With a grin still plastered on my face, I read over the enchantment of the armor that I had received from the first nightmare.

There was only one enchantment, which was the Silent Steps enchantment that made the wearer completely silent. It wasn't terrible. Actually, it was very useful, but I was kind of disappointed. Well, not really. But it would've been nice if I got at least one more enchantment.

Might as well see what it looks like.

I summoned Songweaver's Raiment. Blue sparks of light formed around me, forming into a fitted ensemble of dark leather and reinforced fabric. A high-collared shirt served as the base layer, over which sat a sturdy leather vest with metal clasps running down the center. Multiple black straps and harnesses crisscrossed my torso, some purely functional, others holding the armor in place. Dark leather bracers wrapped around my forearms, and a wide belt sat at my waist with additional straps hanging down. The pants were dark and practical, made for combat and long travels. Despite its substantial appearance, it didn't feel like I was wearing anything at all. I could move in it freely.

It looks nice if I don't say so myself.

With a slight smirk on my face, I dismissed the memory and looked at my other memories, curious about what else I'd been given.

I looked at the next memory's runes. The weapon that I had asked for a while back on the day I began to assume that I was infected. Bin was the one I had asked to get them. I didn't ask for anything specifically, just a weapon and something that could resist harsh conditions. I had forgot to ask for an armor memory, but it's not like I needed it.

Memory: [Sentinel's Blade]

Memory Rank: Ascended

Memory Tier: III

Memory Type: Weapon

Memory Description: [A long sword of blackened steel that hungers for battle. Its edge gleams with cold promise, and those who grasp its leather-wrapped hilt feel an insatiable urge to test its bite. The blade was forged by a smith who understood that war is not merely fought—it is fed.]

Memory Enchantments: [Thirst for Battle], [Crimson Trail], [Relentless Edge]

Enchantment Descriptions:

[Thirst for Battle]: "The more blood this blade consumes, the more it heals its wielder. Minor wounds close and vitality is restored with each enemy's lifeblood spilled."

[Crimson Trail]: "Wounds inflicted by this blade bleed profusely, weakening opponents and resisting all efforts to staunch the flow."

[Relentless Edge]: "This blade's edge cannot be dulled or chipped, remaining pristine no matter how fiercely it is used in combat."

An ascended rank memory?

I stared at the runes in disbelief. Oh wow, how generous of her. Now I feel like a spoiled scion of a great clan. Well, I suppose that's exactly what I am, but who cares?

I read over the enchantments, and with each line my grin grew wider.

What the hell? Is this a meta bleed build weapon or something?

One enchantment makes enemies bleed out profusely and another enchantment allows me to heal with the more blood it's soaked with? What type of broken sword is this? The synergy was almost ridiculous. Every cut would make my enemies weaker while making me stronger. Not to mention it can never be chipped or dulled, so no matter how many people I cut, nothing will happen to the blade.

Well, I guess that's to be expected from an ascended ranked memory. Plus, I didn't have to worry about being weaponless in the dream realm.

This was perfect.

I looked at the last memory, the other one that I had received from my sister.

Memory: [Wayfarer's Embrace]

Memory Rank: Awakened

Memory Tier: III

Memory Type: Garment

Memory Description: [This coat once belonged to a wandering merchant who traversed the Dream Realm's most inhospitable territories in search of rare goods. Though he eventually fell to a Nightmare Creature's ambush, his coat absorbed his determination to reach the next horizon, no matter the weather. Those who wear it find themselves able to push forward through conditions that would force others to seek shelter.]

Memory Enchantments: [Traveler's Comfort]

Enchantment Descriptions:

[Traveler's Comfort]: The wearer remains perfectly comfortable regardless of environmental temperature.

What an unlucky merchant.

I looked over the descriptions, processing the information. It was a garment memory, meaning I could wear it with my armor. That was useful.

Let's see how they look together.

I summoned both the garment and armor together. Blue sparks of light materialized around me, forming the Songweaver's Raiment. Dark leather and reinforced fabric wrapped around my body in a fitted ensemble. A high-collared shirt formed the base, with a sturdy leather vest sitting over it, metal clasps running down the center. Black straps and harnesses crossed over my torso, holding the armor secure. Dark leather bracers covered my forearms, and a wide belt circled my waist with additional straps hanging down. The pants were dark and built for combat and travel.

Over everything, the Wayfarer's Embrace appeared, a long, heavy coat with a large fur-lined hood. The dark fabric reached past my knees, though I felt no weight at all. The coat hung open, showing the harnesses and gear underneath.

The coat instantly made me feel warm, a pleasant sensation spreading through my body. It was an amazing feeling and would serve me well in the dream realm because for all I knew, I could be thrown into a death zone that had terrible weather conditions. Freezing to death before even encountering a nightmare creature would be pathetic.

I guess I should check out my Innate ability as well then.

I dismissed both of the memories and stuck out my hand. I willed for something to appear and a black round orb the size of a baseball materialized in my palm.

This was my innate ability, which allowed me to summon these spheres and control them. I closed my eye and imagined a simple basic long sword. When I opened my eyes, in my hand where the sphere had been was the exact long sword that I had imagined, except it was of a pure black color. I grabbed the handle and swung it around for a bit, testing the weight and balance.

It was a perfect weapon, although its strength wasn't that much because I was still a sleeper, but it would probably grow as I ascended through the ranks. Well, that was if I ascended.

The beauty of it was the versatility. Any weapon I could imagine, I could create. Limited only by imagination.

I reverted the long sword back to its original state. The sphere possessed the ability to fly around as long as I was the one controlling it. It could also do that while in the sword form, so I basically had a flying sword.

Now that's interesting.

With that, I "absorbed" the sphere. I could feel all of my physical capabilities get enhanced, strength flowing through my muscles. The spheres didn't take essence to keep around. Matter of fact, you couldn't really even dismiss them, the only way being absorbing them as well as just keeping them around, but I'd rather keep them in my body. Having flying balls following you around was kind of odd.

I got up and undressed, changing into something more comfortable and collapsed back on my bed.

Four weeks until I go to the dream realm.

I stared at the ceiling. The ascended sword, the armor, my attributes, my Divine Aspect. I had advantages most sleepers could only dream of.

But advantages meant nothing if you were dead.

I wonder where I'll go.

The Dream Realm was vast and unpredictable. But what really mattered was what lived there.

After that, I closed my eyes and fell fast asleep.
