The heavens was in chaos.
Gods and goddesses rushed outside, fear in their eyes, some even trembled, chanting oh no oh no.
Even the nasty dragon God looked confused, his body trembling.
The sounds of Guapins and bells rang everywhere, calling upon their divinity, thunders rumbled, there was no doubt about it , the heavenly dao was furious.
In the middle of the sky was the Jade emperor and Jade empress, they stood opposite to each other, their body bound.
A figure made of fog suddenly formed , it raised it's hand and a thunderbolt appeared in its fingers. It stared at Fuxin, it's body trembling with anger.
"Deceiver!"
Thunders rumbled and the gods broke into fearful discussions.
Fuxin didn't move , his voice was soft almost resigned.
"Heavenly dao , your fight is with me , let go of Guayin please"
The dao threw a bolt at him , it crossed his face and landed on the ground in an explosion.
Despite his intentions, Fuxin trembled.
"Both of you deceivers!"
Fuxin stiffened and looked at Guayin.
It was only then he realized Guayin lips was pale and her eyes were closing little by little, when she found him staring, she raised her gold eyes and looked him.
Resignation, fear and…..love.
He wasn't the only one with two love tribulations, she too had another love tribulation.
Her love tribulation was him.
Fuxin started to struggle against his confiles , his eyes filled with fear.
"Heavenly dao! I was the one who made her cultivate! She wasn't supposed to be here in the first place! She …."
"Silence!" The figure threw another bolt , the gods knelt down at the same time hoping they don't drag themselves into the chaos "You two have been rulers of the heavens for millennia ; your accession was a mistake! You two accession was a mistake!!"
"We admit our fault!" Fuxin shouted back "We shouldn't have tried to trick you but we didn't have a choice! Human emotions are hard to detach from !"
"And so what?!" The dao pointed at the gods and goddesses kneeling "These gods and goddesses have to sacrifice something dear to them in order to acessend ! Some losing their children, their parents, their siblings, their lovers! Your accession was a mistake!"
Guayin let out a groan , her head was beaded with sweat , her eyes shut now , Fuxin was feeling the dao pain but he probably won't feel it as much as Guayin who was the direct enforcer of justice.
Tears brimmed in his eyes, his voice trembled " I will do anything…"
The dao looked at him.
"I will do anything….let her go "
A thick silence came upon the heavens.
The dao moved in front of Fuxin , stared at him before circling him almost like it was sizing him up. It then shifted backwards and summoned a thunderbolt.
"Under which condition should I help you? The heavens doesn't hold well to bias"
Fuxin head gears worked quickly " We have help guard the cosmic realms for 25 millennia, heavens , demons and mortal realms. If you enforce justice and you enforce it too harshly, it means the heavenly dao only acts according to whims and knows no loyalty "
"The universe doesn't understand loyalty" the dao moved to Guayin and also circled her as if sizing her up. Fuxin trembled when it tilted it's head and raised the bolt at Guayin "I will start with her "
"STOP!" Fuxin shouted and the dao paused , sweat beaded his forehead " If I take her punishment, it doesn't matter , as long as you're enforcing the law that's what matters"
He swallowed when the dao moved away from Guayin towards him.
"Besides , the heavens doesn't have rules on what happens during a second tribulation. Guayin and I are the first gods whose second love tribulations was acknowledged"
The dao paused, it seemed to be thinking.
Seconds felt like hours as the dao stayed still , then it moved towards Fuxin.
"Okay, I'll combine the punishments and give them to you"
Fuxin let out a relieved sigh.
Fuxin nod his head " I accept the punishment"
The dao stood above the heavens and started to draw thunderbolts from the sky. The gods and goddesses trembled as it kept collecting it , as if pilling it.
Guayin voice was a pained whisper " S..Stop"
Fuxin looked at Guayin, his eyes softened " I will survive it I promise"
Guayin shook her head , tears brimmed in her eyes.
How many decades have they thought the worst of each other?
She had resigned herself to never getting her feelings reciprocated, to never be the first choice , to forever be the villain.
She suddenly remembered about the young God Taohua choosing to perish for his love tribulation , she had thought he was foolish, too sentimental. It was only now she could understand that determination.
That same determination was coursing though her.
The dao gathered a full set of thunderbolts, it was about to throw one at Fuxin to start the punishment when Guayin shouted.
"Great heavenly dao!"
The dao stopped and looked at her.
Guayin swallowed, the pain coursing though her was making her dizzy and she could barely speak , but this was the only way she could save both Fuxin and herself.
"Heavenly dao , let me give the punishment"
Everyone including Fuxin stared at Guayin in confusion.
The dao moved towards her , circling her "Why?"
"I am the enforcer of justice from time millennia. You yourself gave me the divine authority to give justice to the gods, if you do it , you're doing my job"
"But I am punishing the two of you for the crime of deception"
Guayin shook her head " He have volunteered to take my punishment so I'm free at the moment, I can do my job"
The dao stopped as if it was thinking.
A few seconds that felt like hours later , it nodded it's head.
"You're right "
Guayin felt the power unbound her and the dao tossed the thunderbolts at her , it stood behind her pointing at Fuxin.
"don't stop until the thunderbolts are done "
Fuxin looked at her , his eyes never leaving her own. He seemed resigned to his fate even if she killed him there.
Guayin swallowed , she took the first thunderbolt and threw it , it passed Fuxin face and landed in the sea.
She felt a threatening presence on her shoulder " You missed !"
Guayin trembled, she swallowed a gulp , her voice was light.
"Ah I missed , I will make sure I get it this time"
The dao shook its head and tried to take the bolts from her hands "No you will probably miss again…"
"I won't!" She dodged it's hands and walked backwards " Remember I'm the enforcer of justice"
The dao stopped as if it was thinking then it reluctantly stepped aside.
Guayin threw the next one , it hit Fuxin squarely in the chest.
Fuxin only shuddered , electricity crackled through his body.
Guayin trembled.
The dao circled her , it's voice almost impatient " throw the the next one "
Guayin took 7 lightening bolts at a time, ignoring the painful electricity crackling through her body , she threw them at once.
They all missed.
"You missed again!" The dao thundered.
"My body is hurting from being in your presence, great heavenly dao. You know I'm the enforcer of justice, I can feel your power directly" Guayin lips were pale , her hair sticking to her face , she genuinely looked weak "I am sorry for missing"
The dao stared at her. It felt something wasn't right somewhere but it couldn't point it out.
Two gods tampered with fate
It should administer their punishment
There have been no previous punishments
So it can only administer the normal love tribulation punishment.
But then the enforcer which was ordained by it said that it was stealing their job.
But that enforcer wasn't doing the work well.
Should it snatch the bolts back or should it let them do their job?
Guayin took one thunderbolt and threw it at Fuxin, his body shuddered and he let out a pained groan.
She took another one and threw it at Fuxin , it hit him squarely in the chest.
The dao nod it's head.
The enforcer is doing their work,
It should let them be.
Perhaps they are really tired.
Guayin took 10 thunderbolts at the same time and….missed.
The dao "…."
It moved closer to her "Throw it one at a time, you miss everytime you take a lot"
Guayin wiped her brow , her voice soft with exhaustion "Yes , great dao"
Guayin grabbed a thunder bolt and threw it
It …. missed
The dao "…."
Something was wrong somewhere….
And so the great heavenly dao stood aside and watch Guayin loose 2/3 of the thunderbolts and only delivered 66 thunderbolts.
Guayin smiled at the heavenly dao as soon as she threw the last bolt ,it disappeared into the sea " Ahhh we are done aren't we?"
"….Yes"
It's enforcer didn't lie ….
But why does it feel like it had been tricked again baaa?!
Fuxin in his weak state knelt and bowed his head " Thank you heavenly dao for being just"
"…." These two were mocking it at this point.
The dao stared at them then dispersed.
As soon as the great dao was gone , everyone rushed towards Fuxin and started infusing him with merits and dao.
Fuxin pushed them aside , his voice was soft "Thank you very much but I just need to rest and…."
Guayin stumbled towards Fuxin, Fuxin raised his hands as she fell into his arms.
As if afraid of being separated, Fuxin hugged her close to his chest; he swayed , trying to comfort her.
Feeling the warmth in her arms ; tears brimmed in her eyes.
"I thought I was going to lose you"
Fuxin hugged her back tightly, his voice was hoarse " I'm here , I'm here"
21 millennia ago , Fuxin entered a village with the goal of finding the most beautiful lady , there he met two love tribulations and fell so deeply in love with one they had to cut his red thread of fate.
