Maro put on gloves and picked up the finger he chopped off and inspected it… the tip was already rotting and it was covered in a nasty goo… when Gnarlo went to take a deep breath he threw it in his mouth quickly.
Kadrin threw up on Gnarlo's behalf
Maro was laughing his ass off, until Gnarlo threw both of his knives into Maro. "Worth it"
Gnarlo grabbed some whiskey from his bag and gargled his mouth, to keep the vomit down.
Of the 100 people that were chained around in the room, only 3 were left alive… and they were beastmen… so they let them stay chained up and half dead. They didn't know how much 2 lizard and one goat beastmen were worth but that should be enough for the Pirate Captain.
The trio were lying on the floor recovering… they didn't expect Goblins to be in force at the top… they thought it would be easy… but they encountered a boss immediately.
"Now… we have to go downstairs…one floor at a time…" Gnarlo muttered
"Well it should be a lot easier going forward…" Kadrin stopped talking as the doors leading downstairs started getting pounded on
"Fuck you Dwarf" Gnarlo was still tired but he slipped into the shadows.
Kadrin and Maro gave each other a look and stood by the doors, weapons ready.
The doors blew open and thousands of regular goblins were squirming and running away for dear life… Maro and Kadrin just started chopping them down… The Goblins were more scared of what was beneath them than the two warriors.
[War Cry] Maro bellowed a fearsome roar, some Goblins died of heart attacks immediately but the rest started running back down.
None of the goblins were trying to fight, they were being slaughtered as fast as they could swing, even Gnarlo was out in the open, just stabbing them in the head over and over, they did not even turn to look at them.
Floor after floor they were chasing the goblins down until they got to a large open square in the middle of the mountain. Dwarves were amazing, the square must have been some gathering spot, maybe a market.
Suddenly they weren't moving anymore, the mass of goblins they chased downstairs, ran into the mass of goblins running upstairs and completely clogged the entire room.
The ceilings were vaulted and 20 meters high, goblins were climbing over each other, only to bump into goblins coming the other way… the mountain of Goblins was half way up the ceiling… all the ones at the bottom were for sure dead just by the weight.
It looked like the tide was turning against them, more were running upstairs to the Trio than downstairs.
There must have been at least one hundred thousand goblins squirming in that death pit. Realizing the tide of green was pushing them back, Maro and Kadrin stood in the doorway, the amazons must be pushing them back… perfect kill box.
Kadrin, already wide and muscular, turned on Mithril Skin while Maro kept using Warcry to keep them turning around.
The Crone Initiates of the Amazons had some affinity to Earth magic, with a speciality in manipulating Sand. They were shooting high pressure sand blasts from their end… goblins were being stripped of skin and muscle with every second of exposure.
If they didn't die immediately, their vision and breathing would be heavily impaired, disgusting little animals were tearing at each other trying to escape. They killed more of each other than anything else.
It was a couple of hours before the giant square was completely quiet… mountain of flesh and bones.
Even though so many were dead, there were a couple hundred thousand goblins that dispersed into the desert… There was no way the Amazons outside would even kill a fraction of them… at least there was no food and water for a week in any direction.
Most of them died running in the sand, the stronger goblins ate the weaker ones and drank their blood. There were lines of dead and half eaten goblins in every direction going for kilometers.
Little did they know, that the closest province of the Unity kingdom was where the original logging camp was, tens of thousands sought refuge in the Goblin Lord's domain… bolstering his forces…
With the upper levels cleared a lot faster than expected, they kept to their teams to clear and loot the upper levels… There was nothing ground breaking, they found the gold/silver stashes of the goblins, they found another dwarven armoury… the armour didn't fit the Amazons but they brandished all new fancy Dwarven steel, Kadrin immediately grabbed a shield for himself as well. And, they found another commercial distillery/brewery operation spanning the third floor.
As night fell on them, Maro was planning and plotting his betrayal…he felt like shit doing this to his friends… but he was going to take the worst of it tonight… Kadrin and Maro just had to satisfy one woman each.
He took them to one of the cleaner rooms under the pre-tense of drinking quietly. After an hour of hanging out, he edged closer to the door with his cactus wine and finally confessed, a little bit.
He took a swig "Boys, we did good today… the Amazon's were fucking amazing…"
Kadrin replied "Aye, we couldn't have done it without those scary ladies"
Gnarlo gave him the death eye, one step ahead of Kadrin
Maro continued "You don't even know what I had to do to seal the deal… they made me sleep with them all over again…" as he edged to the door
Gnarlo put his drink down and stood up, Kadrin was still oblivious
Maro finally at the door… "Our part of the bargain isn't done yet"
Gnarlo pulled his knife, Kadrin finally got the hint, he stood up.
"You just have to please one woman each and you are free" he slammed the door behind him as the knife embedded itself into it where his head just was.
Immediately the door was getting bashed from the inside, Maro held firm.
Suddenly Three Dwarven and three Gnomish amazon women came to Maro… Maro gulped on their behalf.
The women bashed the doors back inwards… the look on Gnarlo and Kadrin's face was pure fear… Maro looked down at the floor in shame as the doors shut closed.
Maro, depressed at betraying his friends, deserved what was coming for him… still looking at the floor, he was picked up by a couple of Amazons and he was tossed around amongst the women, who hadn't experienced the Divine blessing yet…
Maro made sure the door was always open so could exaggerate howls of pain, hoping that Gnarlo and Kadrin would forgive him.
