Chapter 18 - And So, the Cat Makes Her Move!

"Big Bear, what's the commission target?"

After leaving the tunnel entrance, Cipher curiously asked Xiong Lei, who was looking at his terminal nearby.

Hearing her question, Xiong Lei handed the terminal to her and explained,

"This mission is to sabotage a small trading outpost belonging to the Fierce Tiger Gang in the North District."

"The commission says that today at 10:30 a.m., the Fierce Tiger Gang from the North Pit District will conduct a small secret transaction with people from the Vortex Gang."

"And the one who posted the commission is another North District gang—the Jackal Gang."

"The Jackal Gang suspects the Fierce Tiger Gang is trying to collude with gangs from other Pit District regions to deal with them. But they don't have any proof yet."

"On the surface, they're still maintaining a 'friendly cooperation' with the Fierce Tiger Gang. So in order to sabotage the deal without openly breaking ties, they issued this commission."

"Once the mission succeeds, the reward is fifty credit points, and they won't claim anything else."

"In other words, if we manage to seize whatever the Fierce Tiger Gang and Vortex Gang are trading, the Jackal Gang won't interfere. As long as the deal is ruined, that's enough."

Originally, Cipher had found it a bit strange.

Why would there be a mission to interfere with a gang's transaction? Logically speaking, shouldn't that be a matter between gangs?

But after reading the rest of the details, she immediately understood.

So in the end, it was still just gang rivalry.

Their team had merely been turned into a hidden blade.

Well, whatever.

As long as they were getting paid.

"Let's go. The address is already on the terminal."

After saying that, Xiong Lei put the terminal away and slipped on the pair of metal gauntlets.

"Wait a moment, Sister Cipher. Here, take this."

Just as Cipher was about to follow Xiong Lei, Luo Lin grabbed her arm.

Cipher turned around in confusion and saw a bulletproof vest being handed to her.

"Sister Cipher, when fighting gangs later, firearms will definitely be involved. You should wear this first."

Taking the vest, Cipher noticed that Lin Wei and Luo Lin had already put theirs on at some point.

She didn't refuse and began putting it on as well.

Although bullets probably wouldn't hurt her anyway… wearing it would at least make them feel better.

"Hmm… this vest feels a little small…"

Once she finished putting it on, Cipher could clearly feel a tight pressure around her chest.

"That's because it was already late yesterday… the weapon shop was closed. And since the commission time is tight today, we didn't have time to buy another one…"

"So I took out my spare vest instead. It's probably a bit small for you, Sister Cipher…"

Hearing Luo Lin's explanation, Cipher instinctively glanced at Luo Lin's chest.

Then she looked down at her own.

Mm.

Luo Lin was more like a pair of small hills.

Meanwhile, hers were practically mountain peaks.

The difference was rather obvious.

No wonder it felt a bit tight.

"It's fine. It doesn't affect anything."

With that said, Cipher ran after Xiong Lei, while Luo Lin and Lin Wei quickly followed behind.

Before long, the group arrived near their destination.

An abandoned warehouse, now functioning as one of the Fierce Tiger Gang's outposts.

About forty meters away from the warehouse, the four members of the Spark Squad stood inside a small alley, observing the building.

When it came to observation ability, Cipher was quite confident that no one in the Pit District could match her.

She merely poked her head out for a quick glance—and instantly gathered a large amount of information.

"There are two guards at the warehouse entrance. Each has a pistol hanging from their waist."

"There's also a person standing at a small second-floor window, keeping watch outside. He hasn't noticed us."

Lin Wei, who had just been about to pull a pair of binoculars out of her bag: ?

How had Cipher already finished gathering the information before she had even taken out the binoculars?

Unwilling to accept it, Lin Wei quietly peeked outside with the binoculars.

After observing for a moment, she pulled her head back with a slightly depressed expression and tossed the binoculars back into her bag.

The situation outside was exactly as Cipher had described.

And the person standing by the second-floor window was wearing clothing that almost blended into the warehouse's color. If she hadn't looked carefully, she might not have noticed him at all.

"It's currently 10:20. There are only ten minutes left until the 10:30 transaction time mentioned in the commission."

Luo Lin glanced at the time on her terminal before issuing instructions.

"Sister Cipher, your observation ability is excellent. Keep watch outside."

"Xiao Wei, check whether there are any electronic devices inside the warehouse. If there are, see if you can use them to draw their attention."

"Big Bear, you'll find an opportunity to attack together with me later."

Everyone nodded and immediately began carrying out Luo Lin's instructions.

Cipher moved back to the alley entrance and poked her head out again to watch the warehouse.

Meanwhile, Lin Wei pulled out something resembling a laptop from her shoulder bag. After opening it and plugging in a device similar to a signal booster, she quickly began typing.

Before long, Cipher spotted a car driving toward the warehouse.

It soon stopped in front of the entrance.

"A car just stopped at the warehouse entrance."

"Four men got out, and they all have guns at their waists. One of them is carrying a briefcase. They're probably the people coming for the trade."

After observing, Cipher turned around and reported to the team.

At that moment, Lin Wei also stopped typing and looked up.

"There are three portable surveillance cameras installed inside the warehouse. Two on the first floor and one on the second floor. I've hacked into all of them."

"According to the camera feeds, there's one person guarding the second floor—the one by the window."

"There are two people inside on the first floor. Counting the four men Sister Cipher mentioned, that makes a total of nine people."

"And they're all armed with pistols."

As she spoke, Lin Wei turned the laptop screen toward the others.

"Nine people… that's a bit troublesome."

After hearing both reports, Luo Lin frowned.

"The main problem is that we're still some distance from the warehouse. With one lookout and two guards at the door, it'll be difficult to approach the warehouse without being noticed."

"If we get spotted, even if Big Bear and I can take down one or two people, we won't be able to easily deal with the rest while seven of them take turns suppressing us with gunfire."

Rubbing her temples, Luo Lin sighed.

Sure enough, commissions like this—offering fifty credit points and possible extra gains—were rarely simple.

"So what you're worried about is getting discovered while approaching the warehouse?"

Leaning against the wall, Cipher rubbed her chin thoughtfully and asked.

Luo Lin froze for a moment before nodding.

"Yes. If we can reach the warehouse entrance without the two guards noticing, Big Bear and I are very confident we can eliminate everyone inside."

"Then that's easy."

Cipher grinned.

"Isn't the problem just not getting noticed? Leave it to me!"

The moment she finished speaking, she lightly pushed off the ground with her toes—then suddenly leapt several meters into the air under everyone's astonished gazes.

Using the wall for leverage twice, she swiftly climbed upward—

And in the next moment, she landed on the rooftop.
