Chapter 41 - Chapter 41 Prime Minister Tower 2

Red Keep, Maegor's Holdfast, Queen's Bedroom.

Ser Jaime stood by the bed, looking at Cersei, who was still asleep, and unconsciously curved his lips slightly.

The soft silk quilt, on the contrary, better highlighted the beautiful curves of the dreaming woman.

Jaime's Adam's apple bobbed, and he reached out to lightly touch Cersei's instep, which was exposed from under the quilt.

"Good day, Your Majesty."

Cersei's eyelashes fluttered, her full, long legs straightened, her beautiful feet stretched out, and her toes spread open one by one before closing together.

After a brief moment of confusion, a smile filled Cersei's eyes. "Good day, Ser Jaime, help your Queen get up."

Cersei took the robe Jaime handed her and wrapped it around her body, then sat down in front of the dressing table: "Ser Jaime, I feel like you're a little different from usual? Am I mistaken?"

The usually composed Jaime's heart actually flustered, but he calmly said: "Perhaps you are in a good mood?"

Cersei glanced at Jaime and said: "Tell me, what is it really?"

Jaime walked behind Cersei, placing his broad hands on her shoulders: "Princess Myrcella has always hoped you could teach her how to braid hair, and I feel today is the perfect time."

Cersei slightly raised her head, met Jaime's gaze, and a smile appeared on her face: "Alright, I promise you, Ser, for your sake, we'll go in a moment."

...

Red Keep, Prime Minister's Tower.

Tap, tap ~ Green walked at a normal pace, but in his mind, he was analyzing the conversation he had just had with Varys.

Varys is a quick-witted power player, and his little birds are everywhere.

In Green's memories from before his transmigration, Varys said that he served not the King or Queen, but the people.

There were also analyses that Varys was the best person who looked like a bad person.

Varys's various behaviors, when viewed comprehensively, were too contradictory; Green could not categorize Varys as a person.

Green had already stepped into the game of power, and he also had his own political stance.

Although Varys's words were very friendly, Green himself was used to facing all kinds of people speaking all kinds of purposeful words, so Green instinctively remained vigilant about the words from a power player's mouth.

First, it was confirmed that Varys had done work beneficial to Green in front of Duke Jon beforehand, showing friendliness to Green.

There is no unprovoked love in the game of power. What was Varys's purpose?

Was Green, a descendant of the Dragon family's exemplary loyal ministers, being recruited in advance to be a thug for the Dragon family's return to the Iron Throne?

Green immediately rejected this possibility; Dragon Mom couldn't get "venture capital" before she had dragons.

Green originally thought he could develop discreetly before the plot officially unfolded, but ever since he stepped into King's Landing, he felt very passive; a small action by the adults would consume a lot of Green's energy.

Green felt he needed to change his mindset and proactively plan some things.

Green walked out of the stairs and reached the second floor.

Green stopped, glanced left and right, and saw a Gold Cloak walking towards him.

"Good day, Lord Baron, please follow me."

Green raised an eyebrow and nodded slightly.

The defense was tight on the outside but loose on the inside; the floors were seemingly separated, yet there were channels of communication between them. The Prime Minister's Tower had its own unique operating mechanism.

The Gold Cloak led Green to a door with no special markings and stopped.

The Gold Cloak silently opened the door and stood aside: "Please enter, Lord Baron."

Inside the study.

After Green entered, he saw an old man buried in piles of documents.

Green walked a few steps in front of the desk, bowed with his hand over his chest: "Good day, Duke Jon."

Jon lifted his head from the pile of documents, and his cloudy eyes glanced at Green: "I'll be busy for a little while longer. I don't like attendants disturbing my work. Help yourself, just treat it like your own home, find a chair and sit, there's something to drink in the liquor cabinet."

Duke Jon spoke in a kind tone, like a benevolent old man chatting with his nephew.

After speaking, Jon's attention returned to the pile of documents.

Green did not have the habit of treating alcohol as an ordinary beverage, to be drunk anytime, anywhere.

Green pulled out the chair angled in front of the desk, sat down, and closed his eyes to rest.

After quite some time, Duke Jon put down the document in his hand and slammed a stamp on it, placing it aside.

Hearing the movement, Green opened his eyes, meeting Duke Jon's gaze.

"I'm old, not as diligent as before. You've waited a long time, young Baron, you are very patient."

Duke Jon was very amiable. Green humbly shook his head, but his vigilance heightened.

Duke Jon leaned back in his chair and said: "As the Protector of the Vale, I am very sorry for what happened to your cousin, alas."

"As an apology, I can help your cousin find an excellent young man, so she can start anew."

Green replied respectfully: "Thank you for your kindness, Duke, my cousin wishes to rest for a while."

"That's fine too. She is still young. Tell me when she has recovered; there are still many excellent young men in the Vale."

Green pressed his hand to his chest and nodded, expressing his gratitude again.

"I can feel your anger. A small merchant from Seagull Town, quite audacious, dared to insult a noble lady."

Duke Jon paused, then asked: "Has the blood of that merchant's family appeased your anger?"

Green seemed very confused: "Whose blood?"

"Wu Shou'er Maekar's family. Do I need to remind you further?"

The amiable old man had vanished.
