Selene's POV
The corridors of the Moonfang Pack House felt suffocatingly narrow as I walked through them, my breath tight in my chest and my steps heavier than they had been in months. The residual shock of Daisy collapsing in Alex's arms still clung to my skin like cold mist, and although Lucian walked beside me in absolute silence, his entire aura was vibrating with the same tension that twisted through my stomach.
Tonight had begun as a night of joy, celebration, laughter, and pride. Sixteen young wolves had shifted successfully under the full moon, and the pack had rejoiced the way all packs should during such a sacred milestone. And yet, once again, darkness had crept in from the edges of the night like an unwelcome guest, dragging its poison straight into the heart of our home.
It was beginning to feel as if the moon itself was watching us from behind a veil of troubled clouds, whispering warnings we had not yet learned how to interpret.
