Chapter 2 - Trust in the Family

I got up from the bed and went to open the door, where my big sister was waiting for me.

Yeah, in my family, I am the youngest.

She smiled at me when she saw, "Morning, brother, so tell me, what Class did you awaken?"

She looked like a little child waiting for the promised candy from her parents.

"Good morning, Lara", I smiled at my sister, "I was just checking my status when you knocked".

"Where are parents?" I asked her.

"Oh, they were waiting by the dining table, as they didn't want to overwhelm you", she said.

"Oh", I curved my lips, "and you couldn't wait like them", I teased her lack of patience.

Patience was something Lara lacked, and her awakened Class doesn't help her in that area.

When she was 15, she awakened the Fire Mage Class. Lack of Patience and Fire Mage; the combination was not good,, and there are examples to support that.

"Hmph", Lara pouted, "I just wanted to know about my favourite brother's awakening. That's all", she said.

"Favourite brother", I laughed, "I am the only brother you have", I said, teasing her even more.

She stomped in a pout and left for the dining hall, and I followed her. There they were, my parents, as Lara said.

"Ray dear, how was the night?" my mom asked me as she pulled me towards her with her hands.

She was asking about my awakening. I can see the eager faces of them all. Though my sister was pouting earlier, she was still keen to learn about my awakening.

Before me stand two options.

One was to tell them everything, and the Second would be to hide status and keep it a secret.

Both options have their Pros and Cons.

I trust my family without a doubt. If I can't even trust them with this, who can I trust in this world?

Family, after all, was someone you could trust with your secrets.

Sure, there are broken families who would stab each other in the back over titles or wealth, but I assume my family is not like that.

The problem was that if I told them about my status, and if by chance they slipped up or were forced to reveal the matter, then our entire family might be hunted by greedy people to get their hands on me.

Of course, I don't think they would slip up, as they would know that if these secrets leaked, then the family would be in danger. But if compelled by someone stronger, can they keep it a secret?

The more people knew about something, the less likely it was to remain a secret.

Even so, there is an advantage for me. My father and mother had the same Primary Class, which was Farmer. My father, to support the family, took Hunter as his Secondary Class, while my mother took the Class called Herbalist.

One might wonder why, with such classes, we should be living better than in a dilapidated house. It was because our father was injured three years ago, and to heal him, it wiped out a lot of saved money.

After that, he hasn't recovered well enough to go out and has been doing just farming regular crops. Also, there were two of us, and as my sister awakened Fire Mage Class, that cost a lot to help her grow.

Sure, there would be a lot of returns, as long as she doesn't do anything reckless and progresses steadily, but for now, we remain poor.

Anyway, my sister was divergent in my family, awakening as a Fire Mage, when my parents and their parents awakened as Farmers.

So, when I say I am a Farmer, no one would look again at me. It would be a great protection for me. No one would suspect that a farmer is hiding some secrets. I would be safe.

So, my decision was to tell them everything. It shows my trust in them and also, I don't want it to be awkward in the future, when they would inevitably come to know about this.

I smiled at them and instead of telling them one thing at a time, I decided to show them my status. If it were just one anomaly, I could have just said that to them, but there are a lot of anomalies, and no one in their right mind would believe me, not even my loving family.

It was sad that one can't see status of another, unless they show it to you.

[Would you like to share your status with Gerard?]

[Would you like to share your status with Mary?]

[Would you like to share your status with Lara?]

I clicked 'Yes' for all three.

A second later, I heard three 'Yes', each coming from one of my family. The recipient also need to agree to see the status for this to work.

When they saw my status, they stilled for a movement.

Their eyes bulged as if they were ready to pop out, and the jaws dropped in shock. Well, that was expected—nothing out of expectations there.

They became statues, which should be normal for anyone who laid their eyes on my status.
