Chapter 15 - Blame the damn circumstances

Ughhhhh~

"Fine, come back!"

Asuna shouted at the top of her lungs.

She knew that if I left, she probably wouldn't be able to find anyone else.

But I completely ignored her.

Understanding what I wanted, Asuna felt conflicted.

"Okay, I apologise."

Gritting her teeth, she, at last, conceded.

It was hard for a proud woman like her to give in.

But it was an important part of my strategy.

Finally, after hearing what I wanted, I turned around.

"Complete the sentence!"

I coldly reprimanded her.

"What do you mean by complete the sentence?"

"I already apologised, now be happy!"

Asuna tried to brush off my concern.

"No, you should be aware why I am angry and what I am making you apologise for."

There was no room for negotiation.

If you neglected such things from the beginning itself, then only you can be blamed for being labelled as a beta & dog-licking guy.

As a man, you must always take a stand for yourself.

Sensing my intense gaze over her, Asuna's shoulders flinched.

"No room for negotiation?"

She meekly asked, but still faced my adamant attitude.

Sighs~

"You should be happy, you are the first guy I am apologising to."

"I am sorry for raising my hand to beat you."

In a barely audible voice, she slowly spoke.

I knew this was the limit if I pushed any further she might really lose it.

Really, this feeling of making such a strong and arrogant bitch give in feels so satisfying.

At least if I die, in hell, I can still boast I made a breathtaking beauty cry sorry, Haha~

"Sir, I brought various things, you will definitely like them."

Suddenly, the hostess Shana came with a large number of dresses alongside her.

Her loud voice brought a change to the previously depressing mood.

Looking at such colourful clothes in Shana's hand, Asuna immediately got excited.

"Yes, show them fast."

Sages have told the truth: When it comes to shopping and buying, every woman becomes a completely different breed.

Asuna's downcast mood was instantly full of delight.

"Now, who is acting like a child?"

"Jumping up and down after seeing some flashy clothes, huh?"

Bending down a little, I slowly whispered into Asuna's ears.

"You won't understand, this is a girl's thing!"

Asuna glared back at me.

But as if remembering something, her smile soon faltered.

"Aaah, I don't have enough money to buy these expensive outfits."

With an aggrieved face, she whispered back at me.

"Do you really want a new shiny dress?"

Like luring a small kid with candy, I tempted her.

"Yes."

Asuna replied straightforwardly.

"But this time I can't kill this human."

I thought Asuna would say- Let's just kill this store manager and rob her directly, but her reply was different?

Perhaps, feeling my confusion, she added,

"Things bought with money are more dazzling than getting them for free."

"Life is the same: Only after hard work do objectives feel worthwhile."

Asuna seemed to be in a trance as she recollected some painful memory of hers.

I kept staring at her.

Never thought such philosophical words could come out of such a cold-hearted killer.

Maybe this is what it means by the phrase- Everyone has a story.

"Hey, why are you not speaking?"

After watching me become absentminded, Asuna pulled the tug on my sleeve.

Her quick action brought me back to reality, but my mind had long pondered many things in these few seconds.

"Everyone has a story."

"We are here today because of our circumstances, it's the time and circumstances we grew up in that shaped our actions and eventually our personalities."

-My voice was soft as a mosquito yet it sounded crystal clear in her ears.

"I got it, it's not your fault that you are such a cold-hearted killer, you too must have your story."

I recited melancholically.

My words seemed to strike a chord with her.

Growing up an orphan, because of her mixed bloodline, Asuna was always discriminated against and bullied by others. As a result, she was always wronged.

Thus always alone against the harsh world, she became what she is today: ruthless and inhumane.

But this was the first time someone tried to understand her plight and said it's okay!

It was the first time someone was telling her it's not her fault.

"W-Why do you have to say all this?"

Taken aback, Asuna stuttered to complete her words.

But this time instead of her usual coldness, her eyes were filled with a never-before-seen tenderness.

"It's okay, I got a big saving, we will buy what suits you!"

"Didn't I tell you I had always been working hard 6 to 5?"

I mischievously winked at her.

Asuna was flabbergasted and just stood in her spot.

[Give her a second heartfelt moment.]

Just as I read the abrupt system's prompt, Shana who was watching our interaction from afar, reproached us.

"Guys, I know you are a young couple and need to speak in each other's ears to decide some things."

"But we are getting late if you want to see the full collection, I promise you won't be disappointed with our store's exclusive designs."

With a sly smile, Shana openly teased us.
