Chapter 407 - Chapter 408: Enter the Top Five of the Global Master List!

Fenric was slightly taken aback when he heard the system's reward prompt.

Truthfully, he wasn't very satisfied with the task rewards. The hidden mission's payoff didn't seem all that impressive either.

Thinking it over, he realized why. He had merely acted as a porter—bringing Storm and Blink from the future to the past with minimal effort. His only real contribution had been wiping out the Sentinel army, which indirectly led to the success of the Reversing the Future plan.

"For such rewards, is it really worth the Samsara System making a global announcement? Or… is it because I didn't put in enough effort that the rewards feel lacking? Could it be that the true benefits aren't limited to what's been shown?"

Fenric frowned.

This was something he could only confirm the next time he encountered a hidden mission.

He soon arrived at his personal warehouse to sort through his rewards. In truth, there wasn't much to handle. The only thing of real interest this time was the golden treasure box.

"Brother, you're here!"

Skynet greeted him cheerfully the moment he stepped inside, her voice tinged with playful complaints.

"When will you let me out? This room is so boring! And you won't even let me touch anything else."

Fenric's expression twitched.

Intelligent life is terrifying… it can even act spoiled.

"Be patient," he replied perfunctorily, before picking up the golden treasure box.

Seeing him about to open it, Skynet swallowed back her next words and leaned forward curiously. She had watched him open these boxes before and knew how strange they were. The moment they were opened, they vanished without a trace.

Sure enough, the moment Fenric lifted the lid, the system prompt rang out:

"Congratulations! You opened the Golden Treasure Box and obtained the ability: Self-Healing!"

"Self-Healing Factor—extracted from Wolverine of the X-Men world. Grants powerful regenerative ability. When the body is injured, wounds will automatically heal and injuries will recover."

Fenric's eyes brightened—until the follow-up message arrived.

"Note: Each recovery consumes a large amount of stamina. Fatal injuries (such as brain or heart destruction) cannot be regenerated."

The smile on his face instantly froze.

"I knew it! The system would never be that generous. As expected, it's a nerfed version of Wolverine self-healing."

Wolverine had survived even after having his head smashed in. Compared to that, this ability felt like a watered-down imitation.

Still, Fenric allowed himself a small nod.

"At least my survivability just got a massive boost. I can be more reckless in dangerous dungeons now."

He knew the Samsara System's nature well. It would never hand out something as broken as true immortality. Just like how Logia-type Devil Fruits didn't exist in their purest form here, this "trimmed-down" regeneration made perfect sense.

"Brother, why is there nothing in the box this time?" Skynet tilted her head curiously.

"Don't ask questions you don't need to know," Fenric said flatly.

Skynet pouted but nodded obediently. "Got it."

With nothing else left besides the treasure box, Fenric turned his attention to his points.

This time he had earned 80,000 Samsara Points. At an exchange rate of 500 points per 1 potential point, he could convert them into 160 points of potential.

After some thought, he exchanged them all and distributed the points evenly across his attributes.

Fenric reviewed his stats with satisfaction. Both his Strength and Spirit had surpassed 700—a monstrous level of power. Among all Samsaras, few could rival him in raw attributes alone.

And he would need every bit of that power.

Because the next dungeon world was the Justice League.

Danger there was no less than Marvel's world. Especially with Superman—a man who, once corrupted, could bring devastation to everything in his path. Fenric clearly remembered the plot: when Superman turned dark, even gods had to tread carefully.

He needed strength. Pure, overwhelming strength.

Allocating points to his attributes was the most straightforward way to get it.

Meanwhile, at the Samsara Tower, a large crowd had gathered under the Global Master List.

Everyone wanted to see if Shura's ranking had changed after his recent mission and hidden task reward.

If the ranking shifted, it would prove just how valuable the hidden task truly was.

Sure enough—just as Fenric completed his upgrades—his name on the list flickered.

From sixth place, he climbed to fifth.

The former fifth place was pushed down instantly.

The sudden change drew immediate attention.

"Look at that, the ranking of the God Shura has risen again!"

"It really has—he's fifth now."

"How did he climb just one spot? Doesn't this mean the rewards for hidden missions aren't all that great?"

"At first glance, maybe. But think about it: the higher the ranking, the harder it gets to move even a single step. Miss Aurora reaching S-rank already meant she was close before—getting into the top three of S-rank is an incredible feat! Isn't that good enough for you?"

"That's right. The Shura boss is already infinitely close to S-rank. How can you say such a powerhouse isn't impressive? Keyboard warrior much?"

"No one's saying the Shura boss isn't good. We're saying the rewards for the hidden mission don't seem that impressive for him."

"Stop arguing. Judging hidden mission rewards just from the ranking isn't reliable! Don't forget, Shura also received super-god evaluation rewards this time. How can you compare the proportions so easily?"

"True. In the end, only the Shura God himself knows the real rewards."

"I hope he makes it public!"

"Public? Even if he does, do you think you can complete it? Hidden missions don't appear for just anyone—they require insane conditions. Do you really think you have Shura's strength?"

"Brother, don't tear people down just because you can't reach them yourself!"

—--

Fenric had no idea that at this very moment, countless people were watching his every move with rapt attention.

Inside his personal warehouse, he instructed calmly, "Skynet, stay here quietly. I'll let you out soon."

"I understand, brother," came the obedient reply.

Fenric nodded, his gaze sweeping across the shelves of his warehouse.

Now, it was packed to the brim. Countless special items and props glimmered faintly under the system's light: the AllSpark, the seventh-generation Mark VII Iron Man armor, the Impersonation Mask, the Infinity Gauntlet, the Eternal Flame, Renée Chu bracelet, the Black Blade Shusui, the Empyrean Divine Sword, Sentinel Robots, the Lion's Roar scroll, and more.

A dazzling variety.

Yet, many of these items were useless to him now.

The Black Blade Shusui, the Mark VII armor, the Sentinel robots, the Lion's Roar technique—impressive for others, perhaps, but trivial for Fenric. With his current strength, they were no longer worth his attention.

Closing the warehouse, Fenric returned to Samsara Square.

At that moment, a system prompt flashed before his eyes:

[You have received a new message. "Aurora Morwyn" requests a video call. Please respond promptly.]

Fenric connected without hesitation.

Aurora's elegant face appeared on the screen, her expression radiant.

"Shura, congratulations. You achieved the highest evaluation again."
