Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: This Human Is So Cruel! (7/10)

Night fell, and silence blanketed the land.

On an empty street, two figures suddenly appeared—one was a human dragging a bound zombie.

Watching the zombie stumble slowly along, Fenric frowned and snapped,

"Move it! What are you dawdling for? Believe it or not, I'll smash you right here!"

The zombie trembled in fright, letting out a low, muffled groan.

Its intelligence was limited. It didn't understand a word Fenric said—just a pitiful, mindless creature.

Fenric ignored it and began contemplating his next move.

A single zombie wasn't enough to earn significant points.

Fortunately, zombies could infect humans. If enough humans were bitten, Fenric was confident a whole horde of zombies could be produced in no time.

His plan was simple—capture a large number of humans and feed them to his zombie.

Once they turned and he finished them off, the points would start rolling in.

Don't tell Fenric that zombies are hard to kill.

That might apply to ordinary people—but not to him.

He possessed overwhelming strength and wielded the black blade Shusui, sharp enough to cleave flesh and bone like paper.

If he wanted to, he could turn a zombie into minced meat on the spot.

Even the mutated zombie from the original plot, the evolved "Old Man," would be nothing more than a ragdoll for him now.

However, Fenric's plan was undeniably vicious, even inhumane.

All for the sake of earning points, he disregarded the lives of others.

But this is a dungeon. Just like in a game, he never sees them as real people—only as Non-Playable Characters (NPCs). The only ones he sees as living people are those he knows and holds dear. And he's not a good guy in the first place.

Half an hour later.

Fenric and the zombie arrived at a mountain not far from Renjia Town.

It took him more than an hour to find a well-hidden cave. After driving out a family of wild boars, he claimed it for himself.

With Fenric's current strength, the wild boars didn't dare put up a fight—they fled with their piglets without a sound.

Inside the cave, Fenric drew Shusui and dug a large pit.

Then he tossed the bound zombie into it.

"Until I say otherwise, don't you dare come out and bite anyone. If I catch you sneaking around—believe it or not—I'll hammer you to death!"

The threat was laced with Conqueror Haki.

Om—

The pressure sent shudders through the air.

The zombie let out a terrified howl and shrank back. Resistance? Not even a thought crossed its mind.

The raw aura of dominance from Fenric made its undead instincts tremble in fear.

Next, Fenric rolled over a massive boulder—easily weighing a thousand catties—and used it to seal the pit.

He clapped the dust from his hands, satisfied.

With his power, moving a boulder like that was child's play.

As he made his way back…

Suddenly, Fenric halted.

He turned to glance at the nearby woods, his eyes narrowing.

With his heightened senses, he felt it—something, or someone, was watching him.

But the woods appeared empty. Not a single trace of life.

Fenric snorted coldly and raised his voice:

"Mind your own damn business. Don't you dare mess with what I've hidden. I know where your grave is. If you stick your nose in where it doesn't belong—believe it or not—I'll make sure you vanish for good. Not even your soul will remain!"

Leaving those domineering words hanging in the air, Fenric turned and walked away.

In this world, zombies weren't the only threat.

There were also female ghosts.

In the original plot, one even held a deadly grudge against Master Nine's eldest disciple Chong.

After Fenric left…

A crimson figure appeared in the woods.

Staring in the direction he had gone, the woman in red whispered anxiously,

"That man… is terrifying."

Fenric's body radiated a powerful, masculine energy. His physique was strong, his blood vibrant, and his yang energy overwhelming.

Moreover, with human blood in his hand— a deadly aura clinging to him.

Spirits like her instinctively feared people like Fenric.

Back at the Ren residence.

Master Ren and Ren Tingting were still awake.

The events of the day had left them both shaken.

"Teacher!"

Ren Tingting's eyes lit up the moment she saw Fenric return, and she rushed to his side.

It was as if his presence alone gave her peace of mind.

Master Ren quickly approached as well. "Nephew, what about that monster?"

"Don't worry, Master Ren. It's been handled."

Master Ren breathed a sigh of relief.

"If it weren't for you, my daughter and I… we wouldn't have made it. Nephew, you saved our lives."

"Master Ren, you're too kind."

Actually, Master Ren had recognized something strange about the monster—it resembled his late father.

He wanted to ask Fenric how he had "handled" it, but the words caught in his throat. Instead, he forced a smile and said,

"Nephew, it's getting late. I won't keep you from resting."

"Tingting, go to sleep as well."

Ren Tingting clung to Fenric's arm and said softly,

"Father, I… I'm too scared."

Master Ren was at a loss.

He couldn't blame her. Truthfully, he was still a little shaken himself.

But he couldn't very well ask Fenric to sleep with his daughter, could he?

Seeing Master Ren hesitate, Fenric smiled.

"Tingting, go rest. I'll stand guard at your door tonight."

Master Ren was stunned, then chuckled.

"That's very kind of you, nephew."

As for Ren Tingting—her heart melted. Fenric's words were sweeter than honey.

The next morning.

The sun rose.

Ren Tingting woke up unusually late—unsurprising, considering how late she fell asleep.

As soon as she got up, she ran to the door.

Seeing Fenric reading a book on a chair on her door, she couldn't help but smile brightly.

"Teacher really stayed up all night to keep watch..."

Her heart swelled with joy.

"Teacher, are you tired? Do you want to rest?"

Fenric shook his head.

With his current strength and endurance, he could go three days and nights without sleep if he had to.

"Tingting, I want to ask you something."

"Teacher, if it's something I know, I'll tell you everything."

Fenric smiled.

"It's not that serious. I just want to know—who's the worst person in Renjia Town? Someone truly notorious."

Before launching his plan, he needed to run an experiment.

He had to confirm that killing zombies would actually earn him points.

So…

Fenric intended to round up some human scum—and offer them up to the zombie in the pit.

But just as Ren Tingting was about to respond, Master Nine arrived at the Ren residence with his two disciples, looking anxious.
