As Elijah continued laying on his bed, a knocking sound came from the door.
Immediately wearing his shirt, Elijah ran forwards the door to open it, only to spot no one.
Poking his head out of the door, he looked around
The surroundings were dark, all the lights were off and the windows were covered
'…?'
Closing the door behind him, Elijah walked to one of the windows, wanting to open the curtains when he hears a soft hiss from behind
'What in the…'
Elijah behind, wanting to see the source of the noise, and he was greeted by an ominous candle that was lit.
The candle illuminated the surroundings.
Azreal was sitting right in front of the candle, his hands grasped together, covering his mouth. His eyes starring directly at Elijah as his lips parted.
"You're here"
Ignoring the sharp gaze, Elijah looked around.
Next to the candle, Serena sat cross legged, her hair braided into a ponytail.
She drank a sip of coffee as she exuded a sense of elegance.
Saoirse was leaning her arm on a sword sheathe, her other hand resting her chin
"… what is this suppose to be about?"
Elijah asked as he took a small step back
He felt like he was about to get hit by something.
"We have decided the your punishment"
"…okay?"
"We will not tell Mr Farrell about your "decision" however,"
"You will get smacked.
"What?"
Upon hearing saoirse's calm continuation of azreal's message, Elijah let out a confused sound before he got smacked in the back of his head
"Ah! Ow!"
Multiple times.
He turned back to look at the culprit.
Looking at Kevin who was grinning ear to ear, Elijah simply sighed
"Wait so you guys aren't telling Mr Farrell right?"
"Mhm, so don't do it again"
Kevin replied casually as he turned on the lights.
Serena blew out the candle as she placed her teacup down.
Serena sat up, stretching her limbs before turning to Azreal
"So when is Mr Farrell coming back?"
Azreal shrugged
"I'm not sure, he hasn't responded yet"
"You don't think he's in trouble… right? That "Zaire" used Fire and Water magic, didn't he?"
Kevin asked as he jumped onto Elijah's back.
"Hey get off.. you're heavy"
"I don't know, but seeing as how he has yet to call backup, it's probably nothin"
Azreal shrugged once more and relaxed his body on the sofa.
"Alright, let's go to back to our original mission, shall we?"
Serena uncrossed her legs, pouring tea into her tea cup once more.
"Elijah, did you notice anything strange when you separated from the group?"
Elijah, caught off guard by her question, blinked a few times before pushing Kevin off his shoulder
"Ow :("
Clearing his throat, Elijah started speaking
"Well.. starting from the start"
***
"So that's how it is"
Azreal replied.
At this point, everyone had gotten into a comfortable position, other than Elijah who was still standing.
"So, the mecernaries are probably behind the demonic creatures, and the elemental stuff comes from those cards?
Kevin, who was laying on his side, asked
"I think so"
Elijah replied as he leaned his body against the wall
"Can you make any sense of this? Serena?"
Azreal turned to Serena, who was an apostle of the law and this wielded divinity
"The mecernaries are definitely in this. There may be some who aren't but majority are in the plan of demonic beings. Mecernary work has always been viewed as the lowest of the low. Unlike adventurers and knights or basically any other profession, they are freelancers. It's probable these mecernaries have run out of money or got enticed by whatever was promised. As for the elemental cards…I am unfamiliar with elemental energy and I can barely generate any. Elemental energy doesn't just require divinity it also requires talent. As for how the cards were made… I'm not sure either."
Azreal simply nodded at Serena's response before turning back to his phone
"Hey, is anyone there? Room service~"
The five turned their attention to the door
"Did… anyone order room service?"
Elijah asked, tilting his head.
Kevin raised his hand
"I ordered us some pizza"
"Again..? You're going to get fat. Last week you ate like 14…"
Saoirse mumbled under her breath.
Ignoring it, Kevin rushed to the door.
Just as he was about to open the door, Serena immediately ran to him, pulling him away from the door.
A knife came through the door, hitting the sofa where Azreal was sitting on.
Saoirse immediately unsheathed her sword, Elijah rushing to the bags to get all their weapons
Azreal, hiding in front of the sofa, looked back
"You missed"
A manly voice was heard from outside the door
"Seem's were being attacked"
"Are you only capable of stating the obvious?"
Serena teased Azreal as she slid on her gauntlets
***
"So that's the consequence for using the divinity stone to trap yourself?"
The two were slowly walking back to the town, with Zaire in front and Farrell at the back
Farrell looked at Zaire's back
Zaire simply nodded.
He hadn't spoken much during the trip, it was mostly Farrell doing the talking
'Well, he was never talkative in the past… why would he be now?'
Shoving that thought back into his mind, Farrell continued bombarding Zaire with questions
"So are you technically a demigod of time now?"
Upon hearing the word demigod, Zaire stopped walking
"Demigod… I suppose?
"What is that suppose to mean?"
"I have the divinity of one but my physique barely rivals a trained human. That's all. I can't use my divinity often, even using the clock, without drawbacks"
"Does that include a short lifespan?"
"…"
Zaire continued walking, not answering the question
After walking in silence together for about 2 minutes, Zaire spoke up again
"Our ending is not predetermined"
"…? Pardon?"
"You know of the prophecy, don't you?"
Zaire turned back, his empty eyes staring into farreal's soul
"The demigod of life, tearing into the corruption, will turn our world of strife into one of tranquility. Are you saying this prophecy will not come to pass?"
Farrell asked, curious. This prophecy was presented by the previous demigod of time and the leader of the clock keepers. She even used most of her divinity just for this prophecy, so how could it not come true? Unless even if he or other demigods use their divinity to change it, it's at most would result in slight word changes. Unless.. it was a demigod of time…
"You.. you don't mean-"
Zaire turned his body fully to Farrell
"You know fully well how humans are.you already have an idea of who the hero is, don't you? Aren't you curious why there is no mention of his comrades? Or other demigods in the prophecy? This prophecy only dictates the death of corruption, not about humanity. That's why I'm here"
"You don't mean to say…"
A loud bang was heard in the distance
"Seems the mecernaries are acting up now"
Zaire said calmly, looking up at the sky.
Farrell grumbled, immediately summoning a sword.
"I'll listen to your story later, you best fully explain yourself"
After uttering that, he ran full speed, to the direction of the town.
'Just as quick to rush into battle and help others as he used to be'
Suppressing a sigh, zaire pulled his rapier out. He clicked a button in his jacket's pocket, and a gush of wind appeared where he originally was. His figure now nowhere to be found
