John sat by his friends in the waiting room, a single wall splitting them from the imprisoned Ill shaped people. Room filled with knights from all status awaiting a job to do
William reading the instruction spoke saying
"So basically, there are a couple of places like this one scattered across the capital, but we are not allowed outside the zone operated by this one"
Henry replied "I guess the masked man doesn't the slightest trust in us yet"
"He would've allowed us into the outskirts, i guess the butler is under his command as well," said Thomas
"I still feel weird about him" said John "The butler, I mean. He seems, too kind towards us, sometimes weird, he even force that act of coolness"
"Hey that secret stair thingy is cool" replied Thomas
"I don't blame him" said Isabel "I'd want to look cool in front of me as well"
Sara spoke pushing Isabel's mouth shutting her up "Jokes aside, he is forcing that smile, although we can't see behind the mask his voice is one of a cheerful, old man or something I don't know"
John replied agreeing on that "He tries to act like that merchant we met on the way, you know the one that smiled to everybody, handing over sweet stuff back at the snake head castle"
"At least that one seemed genuine, this one seems to be pushing it," replied Sara
"Don't be too hard on the guy" said Isabel "He gave us shelter, warm food, comfort"
"Sheep speak of their farmer like that" said Thomas "But once he goes hungry, the first to taste the cold knives of his are the fattest"
"You calling me a fat sheep?" asked Isabel
"What if is not trying to swallow us" said Henry "Maybe he'd rather use or ally with us"
"Why do you think that?" asked John
Henry replied "It doesn't make sense how the masked man would act so cold whilst the butler is trying his best to get on our good side"
"Couldn't that be an act of theirs?" said William putting his assumption down "The masked man did tell us once about the bad wolf good wolf trick"
"What's that?" asked Isabel
Henry replied "It is when two people with the same goal approaching one with the first acting mean and using force, while the other is coming out as kind and friendly"
Henry doubled down saying "It does seem the both of them are on the same side, with the masked man having more authority"
"I wonder what is doing right now," said Isabel
"He might be behind the walls listening to our conversation" replied Thomas trying to creep here out
"Now that you say it" John seemed to have a serious though in mind "We never saw his face, or at the very least we don't know how he looks, even his sound is blurry behind that steal mask"
"What an information…" said Thomas as Sara hit his belly's side shutting him up
"What I mean is, he might be anyone at tis point" said John "We know nothing about him, he can adapt any personality staying out of sight"
Isabel having a shiver travel down her spine said "This place is sure full of creepy people wOh"
"Man, this is so boring, can't some catastrophic stuff happen already" said Thomas
"In stories stuff like that tend to happen either suddenly or when you talk about them" said William "that is used by writers to fill the silence and emptiness between the action and whatever other stuff"
"So… descriptive" said Thomas shocked by the amount of info his brain had to process "And you say you don't read fantasy stories"
"Not everything I read is fantasy," said William "I just like to rest every once in a while"
"What a weird way to say you never take a rest from reading" replied Thomas
Ring!!!
"Finally, the sound of a bell" said Thomas rushing forward towards the door to check out wish direction they should go
"What a timing, the masked man is monitoring us after all," said Isabel
Opening the door, he hit a solid object causing him to fall backwards
"Let's go, we got work to do" said Ino the chain knight guiding them out, he was the one who stopped Thomas
"What's up with all these standing in weird places overgrown people covering us with their shadows and" said Thomas to his twin Isabel
"Your just short" replied Isabel making him stutter "And weak"
"The second part is not true!" replied Thomas following after her as they went through a dark tunnel
"What? are you going to fight a fragile girl like me to show yourself as the strong heroic man you are?" asked Isabel as Ino guided them with his torch
Thomas dumbfounded answered her "Your broke a bandit's neck in the market…"
Without hesitation shattering his ego she replied "So you are bandit status"
"That guy was Huge! Monstrous!! More like a Viking then he a human" replied Thomas
Isabel thought about it for a second "Hmm… So, one Viking is enough for you to…. Blegh" she said making an imaginary knife with her handing slicing her own throat
"I am not and you know it, I even killed a couple of them back in that camp whilst having only a few available, and if you remember correctly—" Thomas stopped talking once he noticed her smile
"You fell for it" Isabel said facing the path before them
"I fell for it…." replied Thomas admitting defeat
"Ser Ino??" William spoke up "When we came her, we did so by stairs… we've been walking for some time now"
"We are heading to our destination" replied Ino
"But—" said William just to spot a light in the distance
"Huh???" he seemed both confused and shocked to find out that they reached the capital, walking out if the tunnel into the public with knights and guards standing on each side
"What is so weird?" asked Isabel
"We were underground, and we only walked straight without climbing any stairs at all," said William "What kind of horse magic is that?!"
"Now that I think about it, we went a bit deep beneath the castle," said Henry
Ino without any words spoken he reached his hand inside a pot of water made for birds, he poured it on the ground as it went deep slipping towards the dark
"It… is sliding inside" said William leaning down to watch it, he then stood up and said to Ino "What kind of crazy architect managed such a thing. This is impossible to notice"
"We took the job, wasting time here is prohibited" said Ino "let's go before the infection spreads"
Continuing to follow him Isabel asked "What was that fuss all about?"
William replied to her "So you know how water tries its hardest to go towards the lowest point possible"
"Yeh??" said Isabel
"That path we walked, is a slide reaching underneath the castle we stay at," said William
"Why go through such trouble trying to prefect it?" asked Sara
"To not waste space" replied Henry "If they make it too high or too low, the building will have a very noticeable hight difference, wish will affect the capital's reputation"
"That theory… dose seem true," said Isabel
"I just wish that whoever made it was to be alive" said William "The skills he has must be something else"
Cutting the conversation short Ino said "We reached it" folding the map shut and placing it in his pocket
A knight twitched in place behind a box, hands over his head biting on his teeth wide eyed
Noticing the knight, he rushed pushing the little box into his hands and fleeing the scene
"What was that for?" asked William
"He did his part, now it is time for you to do yours" replied Ino
"Why so hasty though?" asked William
"It must be a mutated, wish only leads to it having to roam free for a pretty long time" replied Ino leading the way once more
"How long?" asked Isabel
"2 maybe 3 days" replied Ino as he stopped
"Is it Infront of us?" asked John getting ready
"No…" replied Ino "I just stopped to allow you the lead. I am here merely to make sure you don't get… Too injured"
John gripping his weapon tight
"Man your boring," said Thomas
"Huh??" John stared him in confusion
Thomas replied "You always seem to be worried about every detail, don't see perfection just got with the wave" he walked forward facing them with his back to the unknow
"He is right" said Sara with her hand on his shoulder as she followed "Don't push too hard, you might snap, you don't have to think about everything at once"
The others did the same as well, forcing him to take a deep breath and follow up in the hunt
