Chapter 138 - Chapter 138: White Blood Cells and Platelets!

That day passed uneventfully.

With some time on his hands, Nanashi turned to experimentation.

He decided to investigate the phenomenon of killing evil spirits and demons.

What he found was surprising: their death lines weren't tied to the earth alone.

These entities seemed to be linked to a deeper, more obscure death line.

Not one belonging to this world.

And it appeared to be connected to new doomsday factors.

"Wait… evil spirits and demons have superiors?" he muttered.

The discovery caught him off guard.

Which meant—for now—he couldn't completely eliminate the source of these entities.

Instead of wiping them out all at once, he opted to take his time, purging them zone by zone.

In the process, he effortlessly gained 270,000 Doomsday Points.

From that perspective, evil spirits and demons were quite profitable.

Like an ATM that appeared on a schedule, offering a steady crop of experience points and rewards.

And thankfully, their impact on ordinary humans was minimal.

That night, Nanashi didn't bother hunting them.

He had been spending a lot of time with Yukino and the others lately.

But it had been a while since he'd seen Sayuri.

Given her age, if he ignored her too long... well, things might get out of hand.

At dinner, Sayuri's little foot brushed against him under the table—bold and mischievous.

She even gave him a shameless foot massage.

During this time, Nanashi was noticed by the sharp-eyed Yukino.

She didn't say anything—just internally sighed at their behavior.

Can't they just eat normally?

Yukino silently grumbled in her heart, but being someone who had seen a lot, she simply blushed slightly at the ears and continued eating with composure.

Sayuri, on the other hand, was bolder—completely uninhibited.

Especially with Chito and Yuuri sitting right across from them.

It was clear she'd been holding back for a while.

Nanashi would have to make it up to her properly.

So, after dinner, he personally sent Eriri home.

It had been far too long since he had Sayuri to himself. Tonight was his chance to make up for lost time—if only a little.

Sayuri truly was remarkable.

She always understood exactly what Nanashi needed, as if by instinct.

Time passed.

"Ahh... ngh—no more...?"

Beads of sweat glistened on Sayuri's face. She was exhausted, but her thoughts were still on Nanashi.

"Rest."

He didn't need to go until he was completely empty every single time.

"Mhm…"

Out of love, Sayuri offered to clean him with her mouth, taking the initiative without hesitation.

Feeling the warmth and intimacy, Nanashi straightened slightly and, multitasking, opened the chat group.

Nanashi: "Seitenshi, how are things on your end?"

He was mainly asking about the re-establishment of a new era's order.

Seitenshi: "With Tendo Kikunojo's support, things are progressing smoothly."

Seitenshi: "Humanity that has accepted the Judgment of Master is now called 'New Humanity.' A new system and order have been established. The new era is advancing steadily."

Tendo Kisara: "Tch. I hate to admit it, but that bastard political strategies really are brilliant."

Tendo Kisara: "He even secured support for Seitenshi, from the Daughter of Shiba Heavy Weapons CEO, and Muroto Sumire, one of the Four Sages."

Shiba Miori… Muroto Sumire…

One came from a weapons corporation, the other a renowned doctor.

Exactly the kind of people necessary to drive progress in this new age.

Seitenshi: "With their support, everything becomes much more manageable."

Seitenshi: "By the way, Nanashi—people in the new era have formed a religion around you out of admiration. Should I put a stop to it?"

Nanashi: "Up to you. I have no interest in religious beliefs."

His power didn't originate from faith, so there was no meaning in missionary work.

Saeko: "Religions that encourage fanaticism and destabilize society must be eradicated."

Seitenshi: "Understood."

Nanashi: "Fanaticism? Destabilizing society? Aqua, what do you think?"

Aqua: "!?"

Aqua: "IDIOT NANASHI!!"

"He's unbelievable!"

Aqua puffed out her cheeks and angrily pounded her pillow.

Nanashi was clearly talking about her Axis Cult!

"What are you doing?"

Megumin, sprawled across the table, looked listless.

She was aching to use her explosion magic.

If she didn't release an "orgasm" of magical destruction daily, she felt off.

Aqua suddenly glanced over at Megumin, then stood up and pulled her to her feet. "Let's go blow up the fortress!"

They needed to vent. Hard.

They'd treat that fortress like a punching bag.

"Eh?"

Megumin was stunned at first—but then her eyes lit up.

Now she was very awake.

Meanwhile, Nanashi had just been teasing Aqua and moved on.

Nanashi: "Lemuel—everything okay on your end since I left?"

Lemuel: "You ran pretty fast. That foul-mouthed man chasing you got easily subdued by Patriot."

Nanashi: "Oof."

Patriot was in perfect condition—that man never stood a chance.

Lemuel: "We're heading back to Lungmensoon. Not sure about Rhodes Island's current status."

Lemuel: "By the way, how's the Reunion leader you took away? FrostNova and the others asked me to check in."

Nanashi: "Still the same—lifeless and depressed."

Tallulah had been granted the power of sin, turning her into an Apostle of Sin.

For now, he'd placed her in the Faith World under the care of Kayo, Enju, and the others.

Nothing had changed much.

He had already discovered a way to restore her—but he had no plans to act just yet.

She needed time to reflect.

Training a little dragon girl took patience and finesse.

Lemuel: "Got it. I'll update FrostNova and the others."

Nanashi: "Good. I just wanted to make sure you were safe, Lemuel. As long as you're okay, I'm relieved."

Lemuel: "Hey! I'm totally fine!"

Arknight World

"Texas, why's Lemuel wriggling on the sofa like a worm?"

Lemuel squirmed and kept giggling on the couch.

Croissant could only think, Lemuel, please stop. You're scaring me!

Sora tilted her head, adorably guessing, "She must be thinking about something happy."

Texas looked up and noticed the faint pink light glowing from Lemuel's halo.

"…Hmm."

Crunch. She bit off the end of her pocky stick.

She'd seen this kind of glow before.

One night, after a shower, she passed by Lemuel's room and noticed movement.

Peeking through the slightly ajar door, she saw Lemuel engaged in... woman self pleasure.

Her halo then was glowing even brighter pink than it was now.

Back then, the only person that came to mind… was him—Nanashi.

When had that even started?

Texas had no idea.

Lemuel had always been with them—yet somehow, she'd been connecting with someone else the whole time without any of them noticing.

But... if it was him, it made perfect sense.

Nanashi World

Seeing that no one seemed to be bothering Lemuel, he felt a bit more at ease.

Just then, a new notification popped up in the chat group.

[Ding! White Blood Cell has joined the chat group!]

[Ding! Platelet has joined the chat group!]

"???"

Nanashi blinked, wondering if he had misread the names.

"Mm… what's wrong… Nanashi…" Sayuri, noticing the subtle shift in his posture, asked in a dazed voice.

Nanashi shook his head and gently patted her on the head. "It's nothing. Just keep going."

"Okay…" she replied softly, relaxing again as she dutifully resumed her efforts.

Meanwhile, Nanashi's attention had already shifted fully to the chat group.

Silver Wolf: "White blood cells? Platelets? Is this what I think it is?"

Tushan Honghong: "What are white blood cells and platelets?"

In her time, the concept of "cells" was still foreign.

Silver Wolf: "To put it simply, most living organisms—like humans—are made up of cells. White blood cells and platelets are types of cells responsible for body functions."

Lemuel: "It might be a code name. A lot of people in our world go by aliases."

March 7th: "Yeah, that makes sense, but these names are super weird."

Kisara Tendo: "Using cells as code names could work symbolically. Like, white blood cells represent fighting off enemies—pretty abstract, but not impossible."

Nanashi raised an eyebrow, amused. They were all completely missing the point.

They didn't know. But he did.

He knew there could be living, anthropomorphized cells.

It reminded him of Cells at Work!—a story where human cells are personified and fight off pathogens.

White Blood Cell: "I'm White Blood Cell 1196. Is this a new method of communication? Is there a bacterial or viral invasion we need to handle?"

Platelet: "If there's a wound, we'll be there right away!"

Nanashi: "…"

That confirmed it—these were actual anthropomorphized cells.

Emilia: "Are the new members speaking in code?"

Momonga: "Could be. Some guilds use secret phrases to coordinate in battle."

Saeko: "Same with organized groups. It helps keep things confidential."

Seitenshi: "Yes, during covert operations, we use code names too."

Platelet: "Um… I don't really understand what everyone's talking about…"

Nanashi cleared his throat.

Nanashi: "Ahem. I should probably clear up the confusion. As strange as it sounds, I believe the two new members are literal cells—white blood cells and platelets—living inside a body."

Silver Wolf: "You mean actual cells… joined the chat group?!"

Bronya: "But they're talking…"

March 7th: "No way! That has to be a joke. How could cells talk?!"

Platelet: "B-but we can talk to each other…"

Suoh: "…"

Momonga: "I trust you, sir, but this is kind of hard to swallow."

Nanashi: "It's the truth. The world is vast—full of bizarre things. These two are anthropomorphized cells."

Aqua: "As the goddess of water… this is a first for me."

Nanashi: "Actually, I'm really curious about something."

Esdeath: "Oh? What kind of curiosity?"

Nami: "Yeah, what is it?"

Nanashi: "White Blood Cell, Platelet—can you see your personal information in the group interface?"

White Blood Cell: "Yes."

Platelet: "I-I can too…"

Nanashi: "Can you tell me what your world's doomsday classification is?"

White Blood Cell: "Future Doomsday (1 Star), I believe."

Platelet: "Yes… same here desu."

Nanashi: "I see…"

Reinhard: "Did you discover something, Mr. Nanashi?"

Nanashi: "I have a theory."

Nanashi: "The central threat of a 1-star doomsday might be related to a single living organism."

Nanashi: "From what we know, a 4-star doomsday centers around a planetary-level crisis."

Nanashi: "So the 2- and 3-star doomsdays may involve apocalyptic events between the scale of an individual and a planet."

Silver Wolf: "That lines up with your earlier observation-point theory."

Bronya: "Since the world that the cells perceive is the organism itself, then its death becomes the end of their world."

Shinobu: "That makes perfect sense…"

That also explained a mystery that had been bothering Nanashi for a long time.

Saeko and Shinobu's worlds didn't qualify as four-star doomsdays not because they were weak—

—but because the apocalypse they faced was on a smaller scale than an entire planet.
