Chapter 12 - A guest in a happy celebration

Days after Inta recovered from the injuries sustained while rescuing the twins, their location was compromised. Inta urged them to flee, but the twins adamantly refused, choosing to face their family's guards alongside him. Inta, vehemently disagreeing with their reckless plan, resorted to knocking them unconscious.

First, Naily fell into darkness. As Inta moved to subdue Maily, a seed of doubt took root in her mind: had he betrayed them? Before she could fully process the thought, Inta knocked her out as well.

When Naily awoke, they were already in the mansion, under the care of their parents' trusted personnel. She anxiously waited for her sister to regain consciousness.

As the incident replayed in her mind, a chilling realization dawned. Twins often shared thoughts, and the suspicion that plagued Maily now consumed Naily: had Inta revealed their location?

Maily woke up with an unsettling calm, but the moment her spirit fully returned, frustration washed over her. She immediately searched for Inta.

"Why are you looking for that boy? He sold us out!" Naily snapped, her voice laced with bitterness. "We're lucky Paleo was on his way to find us!"

"Don't act like you know everything!" Maily retorted, her eyes flashing.

The truth was, when Inta struck Maily, she had partially shielded herself, preventing a complete knockout. She remained semiconscious, feigning unconsciousness while desperately seeking an opportunity to escape Inta. But instead of the betrayal she anticipated, he hid them inside a trash bin, effectively concealing them from immediate detection.

Inta then proceeded as if everything were normal. Moments later, four menacing men cornered him, demanding to know the twins' whereabouts.

When he refused to answer, the interrogation turned brutal. They beat him mercilessly. Maily, still hidden, fought to maintain consciousness, desperately trying to call out, to attract the men's attention, to help Inta. Finally, darkness claimed her.

Hearing the full story, Naily was overwhelmed by guilt. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out, "It would have been better if he had betrayed us than sacrifice himself!"

Once they had recovered, they returned to the place they had shared with Inta, only to find it reduced to ashes. Inta's bloodstained clothes were nailed to the wall – a grim testament to his fate.

Convinced he was dead, they erected a headstone bearing his name, ensuring his memory would forever be etched in their hearts.

In the present, Shinta was visibly nervous as he approached the twins. Naily scrutinized his face, a chilling familiarity stirring within her. He resembled Inta, the Inta of their memories.

The resemblance ignited Naily's fury. She mocked Shinta, her words laced with venom, causing those around them to stare.

"Sit here with us, so these whispers can stop," Naily commanded Shinta, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Naily and Maily were seated at a long, ornate dining table in the heart of a lavish event, awaiting the arrival of the guest of honor.

Meanwhile, Shinta remained stranded outside the gate. He had met his classmates at the entrance, but his appearance aroused the suspicion of the guards. His classmates, with their invitation cards, were easily admitted, but Shinta had nothing to present. Defeated, he turned away from the event and started home.

Inside, a beautiful woman spoke urgently into her phone, inquiring with the head maid whether anyone bearing a scar had arrived.
