Kamar-Taj.
Inside the room, a light smoke curled upwards, and the melodious sound of a bell drifted in from outside the window. Sunlight spilled onto the tea table, illuminating the person seated beside it.
The Sorcerer Ancient One sat cross-legged, her eyes slightly closed, listening to the approaching footsteps.
"Time truly flies."
Once the person was also seated, the Sorcerer Ancient One opened her eyes.
The person seated opposite the Sorcerer Ancient One was Ailer. After this period of cultivation at Kamar-Taj, Ailer had undergone some subtle changes.
The diet at Kamar-Taj was light, not comparable to the high-energy intake he had in New York, so Ailer looked a bit thinner. However, after reading so many books and undergoing spiritual cultivation, his eyes became more spirited, and his demeanor appeared more restrained.
"You've been at Kamar-Taj for over a year now." The Sorcerer Ancient One picked up her teacup, took a small sip, then put it down and said, "However, cultivation can only lay your foundation. I imagine you are now eager to challenge yourself, aren't you?"
"Yes, Sorcerer." Ailer nodded. Although his sharp-edged demeanor had been somewhat reined in, the confidence in his bones remained unchanged. He looked at the Sorcerer Ancient One with firm eyes and said,
"There are still many enemies waiting for me in the outside World."
Recently, Ailer had increasingly felt that his progress was slow, suggesting that he needed more stimulating methods to unleash his potential.
Furthermore, he was not a Sorcerer, and continuing to stay at Kamar-Taj would not yield much more. Therefore, Ailer had the intention of leaving Kamar-Taj.
"Indeed, while Kamar-Taj is peaceful, it is not paradise for you." The Sorcerer Ancient One closed her eyes and then said,
"I just remembered something you might be interested in. Would you like to hear it?"
"I am all ears," Ailer replied.
"This story is a bit long, so I'll start from the beginning." The Sorcerer Ancient One, like a kindergarten teacher telling a bedtime story, slowly recounted an ancient tale.
"That was when I hadn't yet taken over as Sorcerer Supreme. A Hell Lord deliberately lured three thousand humans into signing a contract, then designed for all of them to fall, ultimately collecting their souls into a single contract.
That place was called 'San Venganza.' It was originally a city of saints. The Hell Lord collected all those human souls into that contract, so the contract was named the 'San Venganza Contract.'
The Hell Lord originally intended to take the San Venganza Contract, but unfortunately, I took over as Sorcerer Supreme at that time. The sensible Hell Lords all reined themselves in then, and that Hell Lord also selectively forgot the existence of the 'San Venganza Contract.'"
Listening to the story told by the Sorcerer Ancient One, Ailer recalled some things.
After this period of mental training, Ailer's original memories became clearer, and he also remembered some details.
The Hell Lord the Sorcerer Ancient One spoke of was named 'Mephisto,' a Hell Demon who particularly enjoyed collecting souls. The archives in Kamar-Taj also documented this Demon's cunning and deceit.
For this long-lived old Demon, the San Venganza Contract was likely just a casual act, as he possessed powerful demonic magic that was considered formidable even among many Hell Lords.
"Where is this contract now?" Ailer remembered that this contract was hidden by the previous Ghost Rider and was concealed in a graveyard.
However, there were too many graveyards in the entire America, and searching them one by one would be too time-consuming.
"The contract is very safe now. I and certain individuals have employed some methods, so no Demon can find the contract." The Sorcerer Ancient One gestured for Ailer not to worry, then said calmly,
"But I've heard rumors that the Hell Lord's child wants to obtain the San Venganza Contract to rebel against his father."
Upon hearing this, Ailer was momentarily puzzled, but he quickly recalled a book describing the parent-child relationships of Hell Demons. The content stated that the offspring of Hell Demons would absolutely challenge their parents, and the success rate was not low. The book's author theorized that this was the 'destiny' of Hell Demons.
Ailer also knew of this little Demon's existence. He was Mephisto's son, nicknamed 'Blackheart.'
"Truly a filial son to a benevolent father," Ailer said pointedly.
"Most parent-child relationships among Demons are like this." The Sorcerer Ancient One shook her head and then said,
"However, I do not wish to see Demons use the Earth as a chessboard. Their father-son conflict is best resolved in Hell."
The Sorcerer Ancient One's words carried an undeniable authority, and this was only the second time Ailer had heard such a tone from her.
The last time was when the Sorcerer Ancient One was eradicating the 'Beast.'
"So you intend to resolve him personally?" Ailer asked tentatively.
"I am old and do not wish to do everything myself. Some matters need to be handled by you young people." The Sorcerer Ancient One returned to her calm tone. She looked at Ailer and asked,
"I want to give you an opportunity to test yourself. How about it? Do you have any thoughts?"
The Sorcerer Ancient One had lived for several hundred years, far exceeding the lifespan limit of the human race. Moreover, her lifespan was nearing its limit, but before she completely departed, she wanted to cultivate some guardians who could protect the Earth.
The next Sorcerer Supreme would come sooner or later, and the Sorcerer Ancient One was not worried about the issue of a successor. However, if she could cultivate more fighting power for the Earth, the Sorcerer Ancient One would be happy to do so.
"A Demon from Hell…" Ailer pondered, "Then, compared to the 'Beast,' who is stronger and who is weaker?"
"Although this Demon is young, his strength is not bad," the Sorcerer Ancient One provided the answer.
Upon hearing this, Ailer became interested. After training for so long at Kamar-Taj, he was very eager for a suitable opponent.
Now it seemed, this Blackheart was just right!
"Where is he?" Ailer seemed to want to fight Blackheart for three hundred rounds right now.
Seeing this, the Sorcerer Ancient One chuckled and replied, "He won't act that quickly. This fellow is somewhat clever and is preparing to find some guys who are barely surviving on Earth to join him."
"It doesn't matter, no matter how many he finds, it's all the same," Ailer said confidently.
"Wear this. It will help you find the Demon better. Find him, then defeat him, and tell the Demons that a warrior has appeared among humans." The Sorcerer Ancient One threw a brass ring to Ailer and opened a portal in the room.
Ailer took the ring and put it on his hand. "Thank you very much for your help during this time."
"It was merely a small favor, but the path ahead is yours to walk alone. Also, write down my number for easy contact. My number is…"
The Sorcerer Ancient One watched Ailer enter the portal, personally seeing off the junior she held in high regard.
