Chapter 169 - Retaliation

"Ditto, use Teleport, Gyarados, use Aqua Tail, then Hydro Pump!"

A series of instructions sounded, and Ditto quickly went into action.

First, it used Teleport while transformed into Alakazam, appearing behind the knocked-back Charizard.

Then, a dragon roar rang out and water enveloped a Gyarados's tail, slamming Charizard to the ground.

Finally, a supplementary Hydro Pump was launched.

Under the surging water current impact, Charizard immediately lost its ability to battle.

Then, Ditto, transforming into a Pidgeot, landed steadily on the ground before changing back to its harmless appearance. However, no one dared to underestimate it.

Since this Ditto entered the arena, it had defeated several Senior Rank Pokémon in one go.

The number of Pokémon it could transform into was too big. No matter what Pokémon was sent out, Ditto could find a way to counter it, then use a series of dazzling offensives to crush the opponent.

In the crowd, Carlo watched Ditto's performance with eyes full of shock.

According to his understanding, Pokémon like Ditto could only rely on their transformation to be entertaining, and their battle capabilities should be mediocre. How could it possess such outstanding battle ability?

For a moment, Carlo felt the urge to thoroughly study this Ditto.

But in the next second, Carlo dismissed the thought.

The trauma Gu Yuan left on him was still present. No matter what, Carlo would never want to cross paths with Gu Yuan again, as that feeling was simply too terrifying.

Little did he know, the trauma Gu Yuan left him was already beginning to produce negative effects. If this continued, should Carlo encounter Gu Yuan again in the future, he would probably lack the courage to fight.

The battle on the field continued, and another Trainer entered, sending out a Senior Rank Scyther.

To deal with this opponent, Ditto immediately transformed into Charizard. Using its aerial advantage, it launched Fire-type Moves for the attack, winning the battle without any surprise.

Ditto did not accept the next challenge; its stamina was already running low, and continuing the battle would undoubtedly be an unwise choice.

Ditto was also clearly aware of its condition, and it obediently returned to Gu Yuan's side.

Just when the surrounding Trainers thought Gu Yuan would let Sylveon fight next, Gu Yuan surprisingly left with his Pokémon, which was unexpected by many.

In reality, Gu Yuan hadn't planned to battle today, but he brought Ditto to fight freely to ensure its mental state didn't develop any problems.

Now that the goal was achieved, Gu Yuan naturally went to rest. Anyway, there were still several days until his Gym Battle, so he had plenty of time to find other Trainers to spar with.

After returning to his room and washing up briefly, his eyes snapped open. The Alakazam beside him was also ready.

Perhaps in the eyes of others, although Carlo belittled Gu Yuan's Pokémon, he apologized under Gu Yuan's threat, and the matter was settled.

However, for Gu Yuan, his Pokémon were his bottom line. An apology alone was far from enough; he wanted to leave him with a lifelong unforgettable lesson.

Earlier on the battlefield, Gu Yuan had spotted Carlo and marked him secretly using his Psychic abilities. The reason he ended the battle so quickly was partly to go find Carlo.

As night fell, Alakazam used Teleport, and Gu Yuan vanished from the Pokémon Center.

Given Carlo's background, he naturally wouldn't choose to stay at the Pokémon Center. His prior appearance at the Pokémon Center's battlefield was only because he wanted to observe the opponents he might encounter at the Indigo League.

It was important to note that Trainers graduating from the Trainer's Academy could directly participate in the Indigo League; this was one of their privileges.

Arriving near the hotel where Carlo was staying, Gu Yuan did not rush to act but waited patiently instead.

After an unknown length of time, Gu Yuan's eyes suddenly opened. Alakazam immediately used Teleport, and Gu Yuan vanished from the spot.

Continuously using Teleport to appear in the blind spots of surveillance, Gu Yuan quickly arrived at Carlo's residence.

Seeing Carlo sleeping soundly, Haunter immediately went up and used Hypnosis, ensuring Carlo would not wake up.

Next, Haunter began to cooperate with Alakazam to hypnotize Carlo in his sleep.

Visibly, an expression of fear appeared on Carlo's face, and his body began to twitch uncontrollably, covered in cold sweat, as if he had encountered something terrifying in his dream.

This scene lasted for a full hour before Haunter returned to Gu Yuan's shadow.

Gu Yuan then cleaned up any possible traces he might have left before having Alakazam use Teleport to take him away.

On the surface, Carlo seemed to be physically unharmed, but Gu Yuan had inflicted extreme trauma on his mind.

Carlo said Ditto was unsuitable for battle?

Then Gu Yuan would let him suffer a serious blow in his sleep. Later, when he battled others, the scenes he encountered in his nightmare would constantly appear in his mind, making it impossible for him to think calmly.

One could say that in the future, Carlo could only let his Pokémon perform, as the moment he fought someone, he would quickly collapse and be entirely unable to command the battle.

Returning to his room, Gu Yuan, having vented his anger, happily drifted off to sleep.

In the following days, Gu Yuan occasionally took his Pokémon to the battlefield to spar.

Over time, Ditto, Sylveon, Alakazam, and Annihilape had all gained a large number of fans. Especially with the Indigo League approaching, some even listed Gu Yuan as a favorite to win the championship.

It is worth mentioning that Carlo had not yet noticed his abnormality, simply thinking he had just had a nightmare.

After all, Carlo's most common battle method was to evaluate both sides' data using a computer, and finally, let the data speak.

Conversely, amid the flattery of the crowd, Gu Yuan did not become arrogant, but instead became more cautious.

While others were observing his battles, Gu Yuan was also using the battles to observe the strength of the opponents he might encounter.

On the fifth day, it was finally the day of Gu Yuan's Gym Battle.

He arrived at the Viridian Gym early. As soon as he sat on the waiting room chair, his profile was delivered to Giovanni.

Giovanni had some understanding of Gu Yuan. Initially, when Gu Yuan was undercover, he naturally wouldn't attract Giovanni's attention.

However, as Gu Yuan gradually showcased his talent, and was later taken as a student by Elite Four Agatha, possessing Psychic powers and a special ability to help Pokémon grow rapidly, Giovanni naturally wouldn't ignore him.

This was why Shadow wasn't worried that Gu Yuan would betray the organization.

Setting aside Gu Yuan's own resentment toward the League, the information and power the organization possessed were enough to ruin his reputation, making excessive concern unnecessary.

"Ace Rank, is it?"

"Go and modify his profile to quasi-Ace. I think something interesting will happen."

"Yes!"

Setting down Gu Yuan's profile, a hint of anticipation even appeared in Giovanni's eyes.
