Chapter 28 — Lilith POV
"Is that what's bothering you?" I could literally feel his warm breath brushing my face. "That I left after kissing you?"
His fingers twitched around my throat. The grip had lessened a bit, but the threat was still there. Deep inside, I was excited that he was angry. This meant that my plan was working.
Through the exhaustion pulling at my muscles, I felt the thrumming of the bond between us. It felt like a living thing awakened from sleep. It responded through the tension between us, at our close proximity, at the skin-to-skin contact. I could feel the heat radiating from him. Smell his arousal that the bond stirred.
Slowly and deliberately, a smile curled on my lips as I leaned closer.
"Or maybe," as I whispered, my eyes focused on his lips, "the fact that I did kiss you isn't what's bothering you, but because you wanted more."
