Chapter 16 - A place for me

A large stone with various wreaths around it. Many people gathered; forming a line in front of it.

Hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of people gathered, wearing different clothes.

I was asked to stand in the front position with a wreath in my hand. My head spun; I looked back and saw six women standing directly behind me.

Three of them wore magnificent chronicler robes full of attributes, and with different colors.

I recognized two of them; wearing white and green preservation teacher clothes, with her was a woman in green. Then there was the alpha warding in white and blue clothes, by her side I saw my sister's smiling face when our gazes met.

For the one wearing black and red clothes, I didn't know who she was, one thing was for sure, my friend waved her hand standing by her side.

Then behind those six, I saw six separate horizontal lines. Standing in parallel, consisting of four to six women, wearing Chronicler clothes with different colors in each line. Each was accompanied by a woman, perhaps their assistant or student.

Behind them again was a line with more people, perhaps dozens if counted, and then after that was the largest line, which would be impossible for me to count without tools and meticulousness.

The Alpha or preservation teacher stepped towards me.

"Go forward, then place that there."

She asked me to place the wreath, right in front of the large stone.

I stepped slowly and placed it there. If seen up close, this large stone had many inscriptions carved on its surface, but the writing was very foreign to me; I didn't recognize any of the letters carved there.

I tried to touch its surface. Suddenly the sky turned black, dark clouds accompanied by strong winds gradually formed.

"Eh..., what is this?" I thought, "Is it forbidden to touch it?" I slowly retreated, sweat began to soak my entire body, accompanied by a feeling of guilt for having touched the stone and causing the change in weather.

Someone touched me, pulling my body away from the stone. Then a rumbling sound was heard and lightning struck the stone.

My breathing became heavy afterwards. I looked back and saw the alpha warding behind me.

I looked at her and she looked back.

"Are you alright?"

I nodded in response. I had no physical injuries, just a feeling of shock and a little confusion with the atmosphere here.

They were all very calm, not even surprised by the lightning strike.

The preservation teacher approached, coming towards us both.

"Is anyone hurt?"

I shook my head. Afterwards, the alpha warding helped me stand. But my legs trembled, unable to stand properly and almost fell.

If it weren't for someone catching me from behind, I might have fallen.

I looked back, and saw a terrifying mask painted on my sister's face. She was the one who caught and pulled me away.

She didn't look at me, her face was straight, directed directly at the two women in front of me.

The alpha warding in front of me patted the preservation teacher's shoulder and said:

"I leave this to you." She then walked towards the stone, which was now shattered by lightning.

"Eh..." the preservation teacher's response was brief.

She raised both hands, trying to speak to my sister behind me.

"Calm down, okay..., let's move to another place."

Then a loud voice was heard.

"The tribute ceremony..., cancelled..., due to unexpected disturbance. Everyone disperse, return to your respective places."

The woman wearing the black and red Chronicler clothes spoke, she stood directly in front of all the lines.

I looked at her and thought that her aura of dominance was similar to the teacher's. I felt her strength, just by looking at her athletic body.

Her clothes were perhaps the most different in terms of appearance and color; more open and darker in color.

The preservation teacher looked at me, she probably noticed my interest.

"Do you want to know who she is?"

I nodded.

"She is the alpha of the annihilation division, she is your friend's teacher."

Answered the preservation teacher.

Now it made sense; why she stood in line with the alphas, including the preservation teacher, even though her appearance was slightly different, and also why my friend stood by her side.

After knowing that, I felt alienated. I lived and grew up here, but didn't know who was around me, not only because this place was so vast and large.

I almost never met anyone other than my teacher, unless they came to my place like what the preservation teacher did.

But perhaps the separate buildings were also the cause, I thought.

I knew and was friends with some students, because we were in the same dormitory. But not for those in different dormitories.

If I think about it, my world is limited to what is around me. I feel this is my home, the building where I live, but it seems not.

I am connected to this place, because the teacher is here. I leave this place because the teacher invites me to leave, then what if she is nowhere? Will I still have a place?

"Stay away!!!"

The preservation teacher tried to stroke my head, she might have felt something. But my sister pulled me away; she didn't allow her to touch or even come near.

I couldn't move right now, my legs were paralyzed again after rehabilitation previously enabled me to walk slowly. But it seems I still need further rehabilitation.
