He definitely pushed me back a few steps with that punch as well. I couldn't let my guard down though, he was already coming back in with another swing.
Whiff! Duck! I just barely managed to avoid one of the punches before having to duck. Frog Guy is kind of relentless with his attacks but it wouldn't change the outcome here today.
Taking too many of those punches will definitely wipe me out, that metal is no joke.
At least he isn't using the sword against me, that kind of makes this a bit more doable. Rezex better be figuring something out to help me with this fight since I can't do this forever.
These guys haven't been too bad... All of them were pretty easy to deal with, except for this guy. There's always got to be one guy like among the group like this.
Pinky lost to him so this is a chance to prove I'm stronger than him.
Looking down at my arm I could see that the light was very faint, barely even any mana to use against frog guy. All or nothing, am I right?
It was almost like instinct but I could suddenly feel a strange sensation in my chest as it shifted down towards my arm. It only took a moment but then I realized my arm was glowing bright once again.
That was definitely quite the feeling. My chest doesn't hurt or anything so it seems like I'll be just fine. I probably shouldn't do that recklessly but it should be fine this one time.
I dodged another attack before reeling back my right arm, feeling the surge in my arm all of a sudden. This was the chance to try out something new with this mana.
POW!!! I slam my fist across his face and I can feel a burst of fire to through my fist.
SIZZLE!!!! Frog Guy backs up after taking the punch to the face, flames cover his entire mask. I watched for a moment as he stumbled back, blood still dripping all over the floor from his previous wounds.
Another moment passed and that was when I saw Rezex stab his dagger through the frog guys chest. A purple light piercing through his chest.
Watching the blood splatter all over the floor was definitely something, but it wasn't something new. People bleed all the time from all sorts of different wounds.
Most people in Kairox are used to the sight of blood, whether they want to see it or not. It just became a natural sight for everyone to see.
Only corporate people and the government stay clear from it. Must be nice to be that high up on the food chain.
I'll get there though and I won't be anything like them.
The fight was basically about over with that final blow from Rezex, he won't be standing much longer.
"I didn't expect this..." Frog Guy said before he fell forward.
Thud! I stood there a moment, a bit surprised by how that went. The sensation in my arm was still pulsating quite a bit, but it didn't really hurt or anything.
"Seems like we are finished here. A close enough encounter with the enemies at hand." Rezex spoke up while wiping his blade off.
I shifted my attention towards Reika and the others to see who was still alive and who was just hurt. Reika seemed to be just fine but Pinky was a bit beat up, the other guys were definitely dead now.
Must've had wounds from the fight with this asshole to begin with.
I reloaded my deagle before heading over the talk with them a bit more. Reika didn't seemed shocked by anything that happened here.
"I appreciate you both giving us support like this. I've taken what we needed from the system. A transfer to our truck that's a couple miles from here was initiated already." Reika said with a genuine tone.
"Just doing my job." I replied with a serious one.
I wouldn't want her to think that I give a damn about this group that much, it would make me look weak. I cared about keeping them alive because they serve a purpose to my current goal.
I'd also like to have them by my side when I rise up on my own. This also isn't the end of this whole job either.
Whoever sent these guys is going to hear about what happened and send more after us. Probably someone who can find their way within Karma's headquarters.
There is probably an inside guy at the headquarters waiting on the right signal to begin that phase.
"You really did save our asses Zero... I knew you were the right pick." Pinky spoke up with a bit of weakness in his voice.
"You'd do the same thing for us. Let's get out of here before anyone else shows up." I suggested while giving him a hand up.
After that we got our dead out of there and made our way back towards the car. The government will probably assume the frog guy and the others he came with, are the main perpetrators.
We did our best to leave them in a good enough way that it seemed like they died naturally in a firefight.
(2 hours have gone by.)
It didn't take long to get back to headquarters but we did have to take our time since there were probably people watching for us. It resulted us in taking an alternative route.
I didn't mind seeing a different side of Kairox that I never saw before.
Renji. There's a lot to figure out still.
I'm sure he's alive but I don't think I'm strong enough to rise up just yet. There's still so much time to grow.
"It was a mess but it was successful at least." Reika said with a bit of relief in her voice.
"That's all that matters." Pinky replied with a serious tone.
"Yes, I agree." Rezex chimed in.
Now we wait to see who the traitor is back at headquarters. I'm sure it won't take long for more chaos to unfold.
