Looking around my surroundings, I quickly realized I was currently inside a hospital or something close to that.
Everything looked fancy, coupled with the fact that I was basically alone in the room — not a single other patient in sight.
Getting up, I got down from the bed and walked over to the door. I tried opening it, but the doorknob was way too high for me to reach.
But thanks to all the flight training I got from the Radiance — well, her mostly throwing me off the roof of the castle — I can finally fly.
Unfurling my wings, I began to hover off the ground, and reaching for the doorknob, I opened it.
With a soft click, the door unhinged, and I was finally free to leave. I dropped back down to the ground and walked out of the room.
As I walked, I noticed several guards sleeping in a hallway. They seemed to be completely out of it and passed out.
I poked them by the leg, but the moment I did, they fell to the ground still asleep.
Looking down on them, I slapped one of them to see if I could wake them up, but that did absolutely nothing.
I stopped trying to wake them up altogether since that was just a waste of time, so looking for a doctor or a nurse should be the best option right now.
Leaving the sleeping guards, I began looking around to see if I could find anyone else.
As I continued to walk, I stumbled upon someone lying on the ground. I moved closer, and examining them, I found out they were a nurse.
They seemed to be knocked out as well. I looked around more and found more and more demons in the same state.
But as I was looking around, I heard a voice — no, two voices. They were rather quiet, so moving quietly, I followed the sound and found two Goetic demons sneaking around.
They wore rather elegant clothes and didn't bother hiding their faces.
"How long is this going to take? The spell's about to wear off."
"Soon. We're getting close to the new prince's room, and once we capture him, we can use him as leverage to get whatever we want from Lucifer and Lilith."
"I don't know… seems kind of stupid to kidnap a prince. I mean, what if—" He was cut off when the other demon grabbed his face.
"Shut up. We either do this or our house becomes a forgotten relic of the past," he said, letting go and releasing the other demon.
"Fine…" he said, rubbing his face.
They continued to look around, and I was tailing them.
They finally reached my room and entered slowly. Grabbing a glowing white knife from their waist, they removed the blanket to try and subdue me — but they found nothing.
"What the hell… where is he?"
"I don't know, but we need to find him."
They looked around the room, checking everywhere, trying to find me.
Unfortunately for them, I was already outside watching and wide awake. I could just kill them… but I needed to know who sent them and why they wanted me dead.
…
Although this could be a great opportunity for me to practice my stealth. There's only two of them, and they don't seem to pose much of a threat.
So I revealed myself. I knocked on the doorframe, catching their attention. They quickly turned to me and grabbed their weapons.
"Get him!" the Goetic demon yelled at his friend before running at me.
I quickly ran out of the room and into the hallway.
"Don't let him get away!" the Goetic demon said, with his friend trailing behind him.
As I ran, I would occasionally look back to see if they were still chasing me, and once I knew they were, I began hitting every light source I could find, plunging the halls into darkness.
"Keep moving! This hallway doesn't have an exit. We'll catch up soon."
"Great, 'cause the spell's almost over. I don't wanna be here when the Inquisitors arrive."
As we ran, I reached the end of the hallway with no way to escape.
"End of the line, little prince. Just give up, and you'll be reunited with Mommy and Daddy."
I just stood there staring at him, not giving him the satisfaction of a response.
"Are you sure this is the kid? I mean, he doesn't look like a Morningstar."
The bird demon looked so done with his friend and simply pulled out his knife, beginning to walk toward me slowly.
"Now, you can give yourself up without a fight, or we can chop off your limbs so we can drag you back to our hideout. So, what do you say? Do you want the easy way or the hard way? The choice is yours, little prince."
I began to open my mouth, revealing rows of needle-like teeth. The demons stepped back slightly upon seeing my mouth, and I spoke, saying only one word.
"Run."
With that, I destroyed the last light source, plunging the halls into pitch-black darkness.
"Where is he?!" the demon said, sticking close to his friend.
"I don't know! I can't see shit!" he yelled back.
They got back to back, making sure to cover each other's rear.
"Use one of your spells to help us see, dammit!"
"O… okay."
But as he tried using his hands to create the spell, I slipped past them and reached the caster. He was able to complete the spell and make a tiny glowing light around them, but as it glowed, it revealed me staring at him.
He couldn't react fast enough, and with that, I broke both his hands. He dropped to his knees, screaming in pain.
"Ahhh! My hands!" The pain was unbearable. His fingers were bent and broken like paper clips.
As this happened, the other Goetia began slashing at anything. He didn't even get close to hitting me.
It was quite amusing to see the would-be assassins panic so quickly after I simply broke his friend's hands.
But I didn't have time for this. I needed to get home.
So, wasting no time, I jumped to the ceiling, and using my claws, I began crawling. Once I was above the demon, I dropped down on his shoulder.
His face quickly turned pale once he realized what had happened. Turning slowly, he saw my blank expression staring at him as I began to slowly open my mouth, moving closer to his head.
His eyes then began to roll back, and he simply fainted next to his friend, who was still in pain.
The friend then noticed I was now standing on top of his friend's body. He slowly looked up and saw me with my mouth wide open, slowly moving closer to him.
He soon fainted and collapsed, not wanting to deal with this. I quickly closed my mouth and got off them.
Well… that was easy.
