Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 Terrifying Mission part-2

If I'm looking for money, the cores of monsters or supernatural beings with 3 skulls are the best option; I can get 100 to 150 black tokens from them. But if I managed to get a core from a monster or supernatural being with 4 skulls, it would be around 1,000 to 1,500 black tokens. I could easily fuck Anne for a few months and pay the reservation fee so that no one touches her, and if anyone tries, I can use that as an excuse to torture and kill the person involved and their entire group, then I would get some extra fear points. It sounds too easy, and I don't think it is, but if it happens, I have to try," after thinking for a moment, I hear the laughter of a Smiler near the area where the battles are taking place between the aspiring hunters who came to support the monsters or supernatural beings found in Area 4.

The explosions increase.

The Smiler's laughter becomes constant.

Agonizing and desperate screams erupt.

The explosions continue.

"It looks like the fight will be over soon," I think after hearing the laughter of another Smiler heading toward the area where the fighting is taking place.

"They underestimated the reports we gave them. However, I don't think the first Smiler who attacked came out unscathed. But the truth is that the aspirants will meet a horrible end," I think, and shortly after, I hear in the distance the screams and pleas of the aspiring hunters who were overwhelmed by the second Smiler.

I focus on my surroundings, as there is no point in paying any more attention to the cries in the distance.

A few hours later, when dawn has broken, we leave the building and continue looking for a tall building that is not about to collapse. I remain alert, because although the Smilers usually attack at night, this is not always the case.

More than an hour later, we see a five-story building in the distance on a road I haven't explored, and although the building is old and its walls are cracked, it doesn't look like it's going to collapse anytime soon.

As we run between shops, collapsed buildings, ruined buildings, along deteriorated roads where weeds are beginning to grow, I hear hundreds of footsteps approaching that don't sound like zombies.

-Watson, run if you want to live! -I say to Watson, and we run, avoiding the monsters by taking other paths.

Several minutes later, we reach the building, but Watson is on his knees, catching his breath.

While Watson rests, I look around.

-I've caught my breath. -Watson tells me, although his voice is a little shaky.

We climb the building's dilapidated stairs until we reach the terrace, from which we can see the rest of the ruined city quite well. We also notice that there are still two buildings standing that are the same size as the one we entered, located not too far away, but there were some smaller buildings standing around them, which made it an area where monsters could be hiding.

-How often can you use your ability? -I ask.

-Every six hours. So I can only sense one thing, if it's close to the places I've drawn. -Watson replies.

-Draw the surroundings, and spend two seconds focusing on finding a lone aspiring hunter who must be in the D+ or C rank. -I instruct Watson.

He takes out his drawing instruments and spends a few minutes drawing in a notebook. The drawing is excellent, and he did it in no time. I attribute his speed to his profession as a painter.

When he finishes drawing, we go down to the floor of the building below the terrace. He places the drawings on the floor, and I see Watson's eyes glow purple for two seconds. I also feel the fear in the drawings.

-I sensed someone matching the description you gave me near this spot. -Watson pointed to one of his drawings, a spot in the city where there were still some small buildings standing, making it difficult to see what was moving there. -I can't say more, but if I focus on this specific drawing for six hours, I may get a clearer picture.

After listening to him, I said:

-It's not necessary, let's just keep our distance from that spot.

Watson's eyes widened when he heard my comment. He must be thinking that the person at that spot is someone dangerous. In the end, I don't say anything to him, since I also believe that Lila could be dangerous.

I return to the terrace, observe the surroundings, then look in the direction where the aspiring hunters faced the monsters and supernatural beings. After checking that there was no danger in the vicinity, I go back downstairs.

-Watson, stay here. I'll be back at sunset. -I tell him in a firm voice. Then I take three more bullets out of my backpack and put them in my pants pocket, after which I throw my backpack to Watson, as I don't want to lose my savings or carry any weight that might slow me down if I need to escape.

I leave the building, avoiding the area where I heard hundreds of footsteps, and run while remaining alert to my surroundings. Several minutes later, I stop running and begin to walk very carefully to avoid making unnecessary noise, as I have just arrived near the area where the clashes took place the night before.

I sharpen my senses to perceive my surroundings, to avoid being ambushed by some stealthy monster hidden amid the rubble or ruined buildings.

After a few minutes, I approach the area and see a body whose skin has been torn off, along with its eyes and fingers and toes. The poor thing must have suffered.

I cover one of my boots in fear and crush his head completely, hoping to prevent a new type of undead from emerging.
