Iris:
"Yes, he did," she replied. "And like I said, I think you did it because your hopes drowned when he announced the wedding ceremony." She paused. "Fifteen days left. It is very exciting."
I only nodded, tightening my arms around my chest.
"Now you should focus on Luca. It will be good for you," she continued, but this time there was no smile on her lips.
She tapped her fingers on the doorframe and met my eyes with a long stare.
"Oh, by the way, that is why there is only one bed here. I am sorry. There were no couches to place inside. I hope you two do not mind sharing a bed." She shrugged lightly, pretending to apologize.
Then she stepped back from the door, and before walking away, she uttered, "Have a good rest."
Her heels clicked softly as she walked down the hallway.
Once she was gone, I stood by the bed and exhaled tiredly.
But then, it did not make sense. Why would she assume Luca and I were sleeping together?
Why was she so sure of it?
