"Your last assistant, Jasmine Acland, was your lover, wasn't she?" My father asked. "I'm sure that little dalliance was quite fun for you, but you have to get serious soon. You're 23, turning 24 soon, and you have to start thinking about marriage."
My lips then pressed into a thin line, feeling uncomfortable with his line of questioning. He still didn't take my relationship with Jasmine seriously. I wasn't giving up on her yet.
It's clear my father was playing matchmaker and wanted me to have something with her...and marriage at that.
"Anyway, I'm sure as you get over Chairman Acland's wife, you'll come to your senses," he told me.
After a few minutes, Leigh-Anne returned to the office with the remaining folders and placed them on the desk.
"Alright, fantastic," my father said as she placed the folders on the table. "Now, Miss Sommers will help you go through the documents and explain anything you don't understand.
Leigh-Anne smiled warmly at me as my father explained.
