I arranged to meet Chase that afternoon.
After my interview, I'd called him, and he sounded as thrilled as I felt. He didn't pepper me with questions—just sent his location and told me to come by.
Standing outside the plaza where his tattoo shop was situated, I found myself frozen for a moment, staring up at the sign hanging above the entrance.

Stepping inside, the aroma of fresh ink and pristine leather hit me immediately.
The space was breathtaking. It dwarfed the tiny place he'd owned near my old school by at least ten times.
Chase had shown me glimpses during our video calls, but nothing could compare to actually being here.
"How... how did you manage all this?" I breathed, slowly spinning to take in the entire space.
From behind the front desk, Chase flashed a grin, his arms crossed. "You dig it?"
"Dig it? Chase, this is absolutely amazing," I said, emotion thickening my voice. "It's huge...sophisticated and spotless. It's flawless."
