'35 Skill Points? Considering that the last time I took a few bites out of an Elite, I got 30. I am not going to complain.' Michael mused before putting all of them into stamina. Since it had been the only stat that had remained in the two digits, it was time to bump it up.
His stamina was now 115 points, and with Berserker applied at its full potential, it reached 765 points.
Feeling like he could run several marathons back-to-back, Michael followed after his team, pouncing on the next Elite alien.
However, unlike last time, this one was much more careful. It had witnessed the demise of its own kin, so it wasn't just about to rush in and fight recklessly.
Raising one of its four arms, it pointed at Victoria and her team before releasing a mighty roar.
Following its command, the nearby Higher tier aliens shifted their forces from reaching the energy shield to aiding the Elite in getting rid of the humans.
"It would have been so much easier if they were brainless like the rest." Michael groaned in displeasure before going to the front.
"I will take their aggro. You get rid of the Elite!" Since he was the only one in the Early Adept realm, his potential power was obviously the weakest. It would be better if he got rid of the small fry while his teammates got rid of the threat.
Victoria's eyes focused on his back for a few seconds. 'He thinks much faster than most experienced captains. Not to mention he doesn't allow his ego to get to his head and knows when and which role to play.'
A small smile formed on her peerless face. 'I am glad that I took him along.'
Slash!
With a clean slash, he decapitated the two Higher aliens that had been about to attack him. Not wasting even a second, he pounced on the next, making way for his team.
Amelia, the only one still unfamiliar with Michael's might, observed him in silence.
'He was recently promoted to a captain, and yet he is able to go toe-to-toe with several Highers at the same time? I can see why Daredevil and Victoria wanted to take him along.' She thought before using her electric whip to catch the Elite.
However, it had seen that move before. It flung it to the side with its sword before readying the two cannons at her, deeming her the biggest threat.
"I thought that you creatures were supposed to be smart… When I am on the battlefield, I will always be the biggest obstacle. If you fail to realize that, then your end is inevitable," Victoria said coldly, releasing her killing aura.
Under the unexpected force, the Elite staggered for a second.
"You are mine!" Ava didn't miss the chance before assaulting with her hammer.
BOOM!
Cracks appeared on the Elite's shell, unable to tank the force completely.
Amelia capitalized on the opportunity immediately, throwing several thin needles that were connected to her arm with wires. This time, the Elite couldn't have anticipated her move, lighting up like a lightbulb.
Roar!
With its movements restricted, Victoria quickly decapitated it on the spot.
The second Elite fell to the ground. She instantly turned to Michael. He should have still been tied up fighting the Higher aliens. After helping him break free, they would have gone to their next target.
"...MICHAEL!" But to her horror, while the three women had been fighting the Elite, a second had come to ambush them.
He had thought about calling out to them, but doing so would have distracted them, preventing them from killing it. So he had judged he could hold it up for a few seconds.
"Fuck, to think I could be reduced from fighting titans to struggling against a mere Elite." He coughed blood, his crimson eyes fixed on the undamaged Elite creature before him.
'Fighting Titans? Hey, do you mean you remember your past life or something similar? HAHAHA!' Hearing his companion, his sword couldn't help but laugh. Even his soul weapon didn't know he had come back in time, so it was a realistic reaction.
"For fuck's sake, shut your mouth and just do your only job. Slice!" Michael roared, his sword meeting the two blades of the Elite alien.
The edges of his vision blurred, and he was sent backward, skidding across the hard ground.
Since both Dash and Blink were on cooldown, he was left with few options.
"What do you think you are doing to my Michael?!" Ava roared, hitting the back of the unsuspecting alien with full force.
Taken by surprise, it fell onto its knees. Amelia took the chance to electrocute it while Victoria dealt the final blow.
"Michael!" After she decapitated it, she rushed to his side, eager to examine his condition.
"Nothing a few healing syringes aren't going to fix." He said calmly after injecting all of the ones he had taken with him.
"This was beyond reckless!" She retorted.
"It turned out fine, right? Plus, look around us. Do you think we can play it safe now?"
Just like Michael had said, with the death of three Elite aliens, the other dozens had taken note of their existence and began to walk towards them.
Aside from them, there were two other teams that had gone beyond the energy shield to face the Elites, but they had yet to kill any, barely keeping one busy.
Michael's conclusion had been simple: they had to take as many as they could before they were circled. Knowing he was right, Victoria couldn't claim what he had done had been reckless.
"You idiot!" But the same wasn't true for Ava. She pounced on him before embracing him in her slender arms.
'We are in the middle of a battlefield. What are these two doing?' Amelia wondered, watching from a distance. It was clear her two teammates cared for the man earnestly for reasons that eluded her.
'Thankfully, the Higher aliens are ignoring us now that the Elites have focused on us. So we have a second of breather before experiencing hell.' She sighed, getting ready for the worst.
"We were targeted sooner than I would have liked." Victoria said, her mind racing, coming up with a plan.
"Actually." Michael placed his palm over her shoulder, catching her attention.
"I have an idea." He said with a warm smile, a little blood still visible on his lips.
