Ego was actually a planet with its own consciousness!
And he had a huge conspiracy.
Over the past tens of thousands of years, he had split into countless clones, going to various different civilizations, tens of thousands of different planets.
He wanted to use these clones to reproduce, and gradually replace all existing life forms! Eventually, all life in the entire universe would be him!
But later, he found that he, as a single Celestial, couldn't complete this enormous task.
So, he came up with a new idea: to mate with the women of those civilizations, implanting his genes into their bodies, so they could give birth to offspring for him.
He hoped to use this method to give birth to a qualified descendant.
But he failed.
Many of the offspring he'd sent for were just "mortals," none of whom had inherited his Celestial genes.
And these failed creations were all killed and buried on Ego.
Until Star-Lord appeared! Ego discovered that Star-Lord possessed his Celestial genes and was a brand-new "Celestial"! He tried to persuade Star-Lord to join him in a grand scheme to divide the universe.
However, Star-Lord refused and, along with his companions, fought against Ego.
After a hard-fought battle, they finally managed to enter the interior of Ego, using high explosives to blow up Ego's core—which was also Ego's brain.
They struggled to escape the disaster of Ego's destruction, even paying the price of Yondu's life, Star-Lord's true father and the leader of the Ravagers.
However, before they could get far, they discovered something terrifying!
Ego, which had been gradually collapsing, began to grow backward and quickly returned to its pre-destruction state! A massive light whip extended from Ego, preparing to sink the Guardians of the Galaxy's spaceship.
Fortunately, with Ego's planet recovering, Star-Lord's divine power also returned.
Back on Ego's planet, Ego had helped him awaken his divine power so that he could join him. Unexpectedly, it ended up saving their lives.
Star-Lord mobilized all his divine power to block this fatal blow, but he was also severely injured.
And soon, Ego differentiated a clone to pursue them.
To stop him, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, and Rocket Raccoon died one after another. Finally, Mantis once again controlled Ego's clone, and Nebula, with a heart of determination, pushed them both out of the spaceship.
Thus, the Guardians of the Galaxy were left with the dying Star-Lord and Groot, who had become a baby tree due to being severely injured twice.
As for Nova, they met him on the way.
At that time, Nova was unconscious and drifting alone in space.
As a former "enemy and friend" who had once been hunted and then fought alongside, Star-Lord immediately recognized the Nova Corps uniform on Nova.
However, as far as he knew, the Nova Corps members shouldn't have the ability to survive in space, so Star-Lord and Groot had thought he was dead.
But unexpectedly, Nova suddenly opened his eyes.
So, Star-Lord saved him.
From Nova, Star-Lord learned about the destruction of Xandar by Thanos.
He also learned that his name was Richard Rider, the biological son of Queen Adora of Xandar, which meant he was the prince of Xandar. At the same time, he was also a Second-Level Nova.
The First Level were new recruits who had just graduated from the space academy, and they were the most numerous.
The Second Level were Second-Level Novas with the ability to independently pilot space fighters for combat.
The Third Level were elite Novas who could not only pilot space fighters but also coordinate combat with other Second-Level Novas.
The fourth and highest rank is Centurion, capable of commanding numerous Nova squads in campaign-level coordinated combat. (PS1)
Of course, there's actually one rank above that: Richard's mother, the Queen of Xandar.
She could command all the Novas.
Unfortunately, the once-massive Nova Corps, and even the entire planet of Xandar, have been destroyed, leaving only Richard Rider.
With their current situation, one seriously injured and one a child, they couldn't possibly seek revenge on Ego, nor could they avenge themselves against Thanos and foil his schemes.
So, after a discussion, they decided to go to Asgard for help.
Actually, they didn't know the specific cosmic coordinates of Asgard.
However, the Nova Corps' database did have them.
Richard Rider, upon leaving Xandar, had the super-intelligent AI of his space fighter roughly calculate Asgard's cosmic coordinates using the information in its database.
But later, he encountered some unexpected events, and the space fighter was destroyed.
It was said that he was suddenly attacked by a mysterious power.
Unfortunately, it happened too fast; he didn't discover what it was before he passed out due to the destruction of his fighter.
Actually, he thought he was going to die.
After being resurrected in the universe, Richard Rider discovered that he seemed to possess a magical ability.
He found that his brain's computing power had become different from before, and when he thought about wanting to know information about Asgard, all the information about Asgard in the Nova Corps' previous database appeared in his mind.
Through this method, he quickly calculated the approximate cosmic coordinates of Asgard and confirmed the destination for the Guardians of the Galaxy's spaceship.
However, after they flew nearby and discovered the Black Order's fleet, they were suddenly attacked by some mysterious power again.
Before they could react, both of them once again fell unconscious.
Consequently, their spaceship lost control and crashed directly onto Kampa.
Fortunately, the ship was sturdy enough to keep them safe.
Otherwise, they might have been two unlucky delivery boys who had traveled across countless light-years. After listening to Star-Lord describe his experiences along the way, Peter and the others looked at each other.
First, there was Thanos, the dark tyrant who wanted to eliminate half of the universe's life. Then there was Ego, a living planet that wanted to assimilate all sentient beings in the entire universe. And then, there was a mysterious force that attacked Nova twice. What was going on with the universe? Even Rogers, who was always righteous, was speechless this time.
The third mysterious force was hard to say, but the second one... that was an entire living planet!
With self-awareness, no less!
Moreover, from Star-Lord's description, the other party seemed to have the ability to "come back from the dead."
How were they supposed to handle this? They didn't have enough people, did they?
Not to mention, they had just fought Thanos's Black Order, so there was no way they could fight a living planet again!
