Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – The Shadow of War

The sky over the capital city of Aurelia hung heavy, shrouded in a gray veil. In one of the tall towers of the royal palace, the silence was broken by the echo of measured footsteps. A cloaked spy entered the throne room and dropped to one knee before the king. His voice trembled, but the urgency was unmistakable.

Spy:

"Your Majesty… The Solaris Empire is mobilizing its forces. Their target is the fertile lands of Aurelia."

The King of Aurelia struck the armrest of his throne with a clenched fist. The council of advisors exchanged hushed glances. In the king's eyes, there was both fury and the crushing weight of responsibility.

King:

"So… the day has come. We will prepare for war—to protect our people, our children, and our students."

That very evening, the royal bells rang across the capital. Thousands gathered in the central square. The wind whispered through the silence, carrying with it the weight of what was to come. The king stepped up to the grand podium and addressed the crowd:

King:

"The Solaris Empire sets its sights on our prosperity. They want our homes, our lands—our freedom.

But we… we are Aurelia!

Every citizen, every warrior, every student who walks these lands is now bound by fate. You will rise—and you will defend this nation!"

A low murmur rippled through the crowd, rising slowly into applause. Yet among the cheers were those who clung to each other in quiet fear. The people stood caught between hope and dread.

The next morning, the bell towers of Aurelia Academy echoed across the stone corridors. All students were summoned to the great courtyard. Master Marwen stood before them, his expression resolute.

Master Marwen:

"Children… Today, you are no longer just students. From this moment forward, you are defenders of Aurelia.

This is not only about magic. Nor just about swords.

You will fight with your soul. This land is entrusted to your shoulders now."

Whispers spread among the students. Some faces showed courage, others uncertainty. Fear, excitement, and resolve danced among them.

Elias stepped forward, his gaze unwavering.

Elias:

"Whoever they are… we will never surrender these lands."

Riven grinned, a spark of challenge in his eyes.

Riven:

"So, the real fight is finally coming. All our training wasn't for nothing."

Hanami, standing beside Elias, clasped her hands tightly.

Hanami:

"This war may separate us… but I'll be by your side. No matter what."

Lyra spoke for the first time with courage in her voice.

Lyra:

"I'm afraid… but I won't run. We stand together."

Mira Vel:

"Aurelia's light will never fade."

Seraphine Lume:

"We'll show them who we are."

Torin Grell:

"War? This is exactly what I've been waiting for."

Dorian Kal:

"There's no turning back now."

Fenric Hal:

"We'll fight… to survive."

Arion Vey:

"Solaris has underestimated us."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, hundreds of students stood in silence across the academy courtyard. The banners fluttered in the wind, their colors vivid against the darkening sky. Master Marwen addressed them one last time.

Marwen:

"Not tomorrow… but very soon, war will reach our gates.

And you… you will march into it.

Be ready."

The courtyard fell into heavy silence. In the eyes of the students shone a blend of fear, hope, and unyielding determination.
