Chapter 7 - I Don't Want a New Brother-in-Law, I Only Want the Old One

"Quick, quick, quick! There's gossip! That guy made Li Wenning cry!"

A student went around knocking on the dance studio doors. Probably a publicity officer, right?

Suddenly, many students rushed out of the dance studios to watch. Today's university students sure are quick to gossip.

They all stood on Li Wenning's side, looking at the man who made her cry with hostility.

"Wenning, crying for this kind of man isn't worth it."

Liang Canwen: ???

"Wenning, tell me what he did to you. Say it out loud. With so many of us here, we won't let him off the hook."

"Exactly!!!"

All the students spoke in unison, with the male students flexing their muscles, ready to teach this man, who was bullying their classmate, a lesson.

Liang Canwen: ???

This is the power of unity?

"Stop crying, tell us what happened! What did he do to you?"

"He… he…" Li Wenning was squatting on the ground, sobbing, like an abandoned kitten, tears streaming down her face. "He wants to break up with me, he doesn't want me anymore."

"Playing with a college student's feelings, how outrageous!"

"He doesn't cherish her after he got her, right?"

"He's just going to throw her away after he's done with her, right?"

Several hot-blooded male classmates rolled up their sleeves.

Liang Canwen was dumbfounded: "Classmates, you've misunderstood. I meant she can come find me anytime in the future, but we don't have a relationship anymore."

"I swear, how can you even say that? No feelings, but you still tell her to find you? I can't stand this, I'm going to beat him to death!"

"Don't..." Li Wenning rushed forward to protect Liang Canwen.

"Li Wenning, you're still protecting this scum?"

Liang Canwen: ???

"Come in." Li Wenning pulled Liang Canwen into the dance studio and closed the door.

The classmates outside were so angry they were pounding their chests and stomping their feet.

"Li Wenning, you're such a disappointment!"

In the dance studio.

Li Wenning was squatting on the floor beside Liang Canwen, crying. Tears dripped onto the floor, and she used her slender index finger to draw circles in them.

"You said you wouldn't be my brother-in-law anymore. You told me to call you by your name, that we have no relationship. You... you don't want your sister-in-law anymore."

"You'll have a new brother-in-law."

"I don't want a new brother-in-law, I only want the old one."

Li Wenning had a deep emotional bond with her brother-in-law. Without him, she wouldn't have been able to get into the Magic Dance Academy.

Li Wenning's family wasn't well-off. Her older sister had married in Magic City. Knowing his sister-in-law was a dance student, and with her upcoming senior year art exams, her brother-in-law used his connections to get Li Wenning into the Magic Dance Academy and brought her to Magic City. She lived with her sister and brother-in-law, crammed into a barbershop.

Liang Canwen would take his sister-in-law to training every morning, then return to cut hair and deliver food. He'd pick her up again in the evening.

At fifteen or sixteen, to have such a good brother-in-law… And with her parents always working far away, only returning for holidays… Did she feel like she had a father figure in him?

Li Wenning worked hard, not wanting to disappoint her brother-in-law, and got into the Magic Dance Academy.

Later, her brother-in-law remained busy, never coming to the Magic Dance Academy.

Today was his first time here, and he said he was divorced from her sister. He wanted to draw a line, to no longer be her brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law didn't want her anymore; her heart was broken.

It wasn't just like a breakup; it hurt more than if her father had abandoned her.

"Alright, alright, don't cry. You can call me whatever you want."

"Brother-in-law, you're not drawing a line anymore?"

"That's enough, you're Yanyan's aunt. Stop crying, get up, you're a grown woman, why are you still crying?"

"You paid 300,000 as a betrothal gift when you married my sister. I'll call Mom and Dad and have them return it to you."

"Forget it, we've been married for five years. There's no such thing as returning the betrothal gift. I appreciate your intentions. I don't want to cause any more unhappiness."

"Brother-in-law, I won't let your 300,000 go to waste."

Li Wenning's eyes were particularly determined.

"Just go practice your dancing. I'm leaving."

Li Wenning tugged at Liang Canwen's sleeve, "Are you going to find a new relationship?"

The sister-in-law was worried that her brother-in-law was looking for a new girlfriend and would start a new relationship, having a new sister-in-law, and wouldn't want her, the old sister-in-law anymore.

"I'm going to take care of some business. A friend of mine lost money in the stock market and wants to sell his beauty salon. I'm going to go take a look."

"I'll go with you, Brother-in-law, wait for me a moment."

Li Wenning ran into the inner room to change clothes.

It was quick.

Li Wenning put on a JK Uniform, a white shirt and a plaid pleated skirt. Her long, straight black hair cascaded down her back. With her 170cm height, she walked out gracefully. Her long legs were clad in over-the-knee white socks that created a slightly constricting look. More than ten centimeters of fair, tender thigh flesh were visible between the white socks and the pleated skirt—an area known as "absolute territory," symbolizing sacredness and inviolability.

"Brother-in-law, do I look good?"

She walked over and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"You're really growing up, little girl. You're getting better at dressing up."

"Thank you, Brother-in-law, for your praise~" Li Wenning twirled the edge of her pleated skirt with a delicate hand gesture, then performed a slight curtsy, using the dance etiquette to express her thanks.

"Don't let it go to your head. You can't neglect your studies. Study hard, and you'll have a bright future, understand?"

"I understand, Brother-in-law. You're starting to sound like my dad."

Li Wenning opened the door, and a student immediately blurted out angrily, "Did this man, Li Wenning, bully you?"

"No, Brother-in-law didn't bully me."

"Brother-in-law?"

"He's my brother-in-law. Excuse us, everyone. My brother-in-law and I have important business to attend to."

"???"

All the students stared at the two of them as they walked away, completely bewildered.

"It's actually her brother-in-law?"

"She's usually so aloof and independent, but so attentive in front of her brother-in-law?"

"Doing serious business? What serious business could a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law possibly have?"

On the verdant campus, Li Wenning, wearing a JK Uniform, walked ahead. The summer breeze lifted her pleated skirt slightly, and her slender fingers held the edge down.

All along the way, she kept calling him "Brother-in-law" while introducing her school to her brother-in-law.

Why not "Brother-in-law, how short he is?"

Because, Liang Canwen is not short.

Some of Li Wenning's classmates who recognized her saw this scene and realized that the aloof Li Wenning could also smile so gently.

"Brother-in-law, where's the address? Which bus do we take?"

Li Wenning walked towards the school gate while replying.

"I drove here. It's parked over there in your school's parking spot. Let's go."

Liang Canwen pointed over there.

"Brother-in-law, you bought a car?"

"Yeah."

"Brother-in-law, you're awesome."

Li Wenning ran to the Wuling Rongguang van, a happy smile on her face.

A sapphire blue Bentley Bentayga was parked in the next parking space.

Someone was appraising the car.

"This car is gorgeous! If I had one, I could just park it in front of a bar and chicks would flock to me, right?"

"The latest model is expensive, of course. Judging by the interior, it should be the top configuration, probably costing over 5 million yuan to buy."

"Damn, that expensive! I don't know whose new toy this is, but I'm envious."

Li Wenning glanced at the Bentley Bentayga worth millions, but only for a moment, before she turned her attention away.

"Brother-in-law, open the door! I want to get in and enjoy the air conditioning."

Are the two sisters actually related? The difference between them is so huge. If she's the older sister, all she cares about is that impractical Bentley.

A van? Sorry, a noble little fairy wouldn't ride in that! The younger sister is different. She's been focused on this new Wuling Rongguang van because she thinks it's something her brother-in-law could afford, and more precious than any luxury car.

"Wenning, you're mistaken. That one over there is my car."

Liang Canwen took out his key and pressed the button.

The sapphire blue Bentley Bentayga flashed.

The onlookers all turned their heads.

"Excuse me."

The onlookers quickly made way, and Liang Canwen opened the front passenger door.

Li Wenning's head was buzzing, thinking she was seeing things.

Her brother-in-law's car was this multi-million dollar Bentley?

Under the gaze of all her classmates, Li Wenning got into the passenger seat of the Bentley. The owner closed the door, returned to the driver's seat, and started the Bentley Bentayga, driving away.

"See? I told you, a Bentley owner shows up, and he'll take her away in less than a day, believe it now?"

"That's Li Wenning, though... My heart, my youth is over."

In the car.

Li Wenning looked around at the burgundy interior, and touched the center console, saying in disbelief, "Brother-in-law, this car is really yours?"

"Yeah, I bought it."

"How could you…"

Li Wenning hesitated, knowing his brother-in-law's situation.

"My parents were tricked into selling their house to invest, and they lost a lot of money that they couldn't get back. Recently, that investment revived, and it's started to show some success, bringing me a lot of returns."

Liang Canwen's parents had indeed committed suicide after a failed investment. All their savings, plus a house in Magic City, totaling over ten million, made this a reasonable explanation.

"Brother-in-law is amazing. Brother-in-law and Yanyan's lives will get better and better."
